Deep brown eyes flicked slightly with curiosity as the Ethiopian wolf explored this new area of Anikira. He had lived here all his life, yet there were still so many parts of the land he did not know. One of his mixed hued ears flicked slightly at the sound of running water. 'There must be some rapids near by.' He thought, patting along following the faint smell of water. The waters where fresh, yet the salty smell of the ocean lingered in the air. 'Well this is an island.' He thought, chuckling to himself, the water he was smelling, and hearing probably led out into he ocean. Most rivers did. Or they ended in a lake. 'And so Kaoru wanders the almost endless land mass of Anikira in hopes of finding something interesting, and perhaps some food...' He narrated himself as he meandered along. Some might have found it odd that he did that, but then again, who would know? He never spoke of his documentaries out loud, and was always kept in his mind, just for his own amusement. After all he had to entertain himself some how without anyone else to keep him company, or entertained.
Kaoru's eyes brighten with excitement as he came to the waters. The water ran quickly, and the rocks in the river made the waters rough. Rapidly, the water went down stream where he looked off and saw that it did indeed empty out into the ocean. Licking his chops, the Ethiopian wolf leaned down and dripped his muzzle into the rapids and greedily drank the water. How delicious it tasted. Then suddenly without warning the Ethiopian wolf yelped as something hard, wet, and slightly slimy whacked him in the side of the head. "Who's there?" He questioned, looking around. His brown orbs caught the sight of salmon swimming upstream. He frowned slightly, then smirked, crouching down slightly. Food! How wonderful! Exploring worked up quite an appetite.
A small smirk played on the multi-hued brute's maws as he watched the salmon swim along, leaping from the water every now and then. He watched intently trying to read their moves to see if he can catch one with ease. He doubt that though, he never had much luck when it came to fishing. 'And so Kaoru's journey brings him to the banks of an abundant river inhabited by dozens of salmon. Can Kaoru be swift enough to capture a bite to eat?' He smirked and with a swift movement the Ethiopian brute struck out with his paw, as a salmon jumped from the water. His paw made contact but it was not enough to drive the fish from the water. He snapped out, but not far enough, for he was afraid of falling into the running rapids.
"Rats," He frowned, sitting on the banks of the river and watched the fish continue to leap from the waters. Maybe he would be lucky and one would leap straight into his maw if he left it hanging open. He glanced around, no one seemed to be around. So, the Ethiopian wolf did just that. There he sat, looking like an idiot with his maw opened wide, waiting and hoping a fish would leap into his jowls for and easy caught meal. Little did the young brute know, that these lands where inhabit by other wolves, nor did he know that these lands where owned by another. hopefully for his sake, the alpha was friendly and understanding.
