Sorry. I'm being extremely cheap right now. Since no one replied to this post so many months ago, I hope it's okay that I just duplicated it once again. If you want me to write a new one though, I'll take this down and rewrite it.

Everything was pitch black. Kai saw nothing but the everlasting darkness, felt nothing but the wind’s soft whisper lightly touching her pelt, heard nothing but the soft sound of her own breath. The small child rested on a large slab of grey rock and was curled into a tight ball, her fuzzy tail resting beside her muzzle. Though it was very unwise for the unguarded femme to sleep in the open, at night, Kai’s grey pelt blended perfectly with the corresponding rock and trees. And as a plus, the rock was hidden from the smiling sun, protected by the generous shadow of the trees.
She slept peacefully. She dreamt of no nightmare filled with booming thunder and pouring rain while being chased by a big monster, nor of a happy dream of clear skies, poppy fields, and butterflies. Instead, she was dreaming a dream of nothingness; a dream with a black screen.
However, as the night slowly passed by and the crack of dawn emerged, a ribbon of light managed to sneak past the defensive leaves of the trees and sliver its way down to the ground. It touched Kai gently, stirring the pup awake. With a great big yawn, the pup slowly opened her eyes. Light suddenly flooded her world, temporary blinding her and providing her much discomfort.
Then suddenly, an unexpected pain hit her. It was not a sharp pain, but instead, a mulled over ache in her stomach. A terrible growl was heard. She was hungry. Ever since she accidentally “ran away” from home three days ago, she had eaten nothing. On the night she was lost, the sky cried and screamed in agonizing pain, and Kai ran and hid in fear. The next day, the pup wandered to a stream. Being a child still, she decided to play in the water and, being an inexperienced child, was swept away by the current. Since it rained the previous night, Kai did not know that the stream would suddenly flow faster. The day after that was spent exploring the new area she was in, and the following day after that was just beginning now.
Extending her body, Kai stretched her legs and let out another yawn. Before exploring again, she decided it would be wise to solve one of her two problems: her hunger. Then after she was satisfied (or whenever her stomach would stop rumbling) she would continue with her biggest concern – what to do now that she was utterly alone. Raising her muzzle in the air and twitching her ears, the cub started to pay close attention to anything that could be classified as food.
To her left was a rabbit. It paid no attention to the femme, as if it could sense that the femme was inexperienced at hunting. Nevertheless, Kai decided to creep slowly and softly toward the furry thing. But, before she was even close enough to pounce on her prey, the rabbit sped away into its protective hole.
With a sigh, Kai knew it would be impossible to catch anything. She was never taught the art of hunting. However, the sight of the clear pool ahead of her still told her to try. Padding toward the water, she reached the rocky edge and looked down. At first, she saw nothing but her own reflection in the clear water, her yellow eyes peering back intensely. However, with closer inspection, she saw something orange flicker by.
Her reaction was to reach for the moving piece of meat. And so she did. And in return was a huge splash along with a sudden cold blast of water to her face. She also scared away all of the fishes that were nearby.
But that didn’t stop her from trying again.
After a few minutes, Kai looked intensely at her reflection again. Her ears perked, paw ready, she waited for another fish to pass by. Once she saw the bright scale of her potential meal, she drove her paw swiftly into the cool water, and following her paw was her maw. Raising her head, in her mouth was nothing but air. Another failed attempt.
Both agitated and frustrated, the pup sat defeated at the end of the pond, an obvious expression of disappointment on her face. ”And I don’t like you either!” cried the pup to the fish, as if they were pointing their nonexistent fingers at her and grinning. With another audible sigh, Kai stood on all fours and decided to retreat. Shaking some water off of her fur, the pup found another rock engulfed with sunlight. There, she lay on her noisy stomach and waited for her pelt to dry.
