‘I think that’s about it…’ The thought trailed through the copper colored femora’s mind as her butterscotch orbs stared at a spot on the tree that now held her scent. A sigh escaped her black lips as she decided she would take a break at Nyspoli’s Pool before she made her way back up Kinath’s high peeks. ‘I can’t believe I’m actually doing this…’ She thought as she trotted up to the pool’s banks and lied down near the water’s edge. Her butterscotch orbs stared into the waters at her reflection. It amazed her how her white and copper pelt shimmered in the sunlight that peered through the clouds that lit the area in a golden glow.
She closed her orbs tightly a soft whine escaped her maw. She wasn’t sure she could do this. Why did this happen now? Everything seemed to be going fine, just right then it happened out of no where a howl that effected her in more ways than one. It’d been crushing news at first, but then, she felt changed, responsible and for the first time in forever, brave, determined, and willing. She felt that she could indeed do this, however, now, she wasn’t so sure. She had no experience in this area at all, could she really be alpha of her pack? Could she really led them as well as Xinelil had, or better? Could she step up to the challenge?
A sigh escaped her maw as she remembered what had happened. She’d been with Avani, Zahir’s alpha, who’d kindly offered to let her stay in her pack and teach her that of herbs. Meikou wanted to learn for Xinelil, there was no denying it, she’d fallen for the alpha brute. Her alpha. She felt a peg stab at her chest and another whine escaped her maw as she covered her head with her paws. Miki had been on her way back to the dens to tell Xin she’d be in Zahir when she heard his howl. Even now, it still echoed clearly in her mind.
"Aldgar Pack, I am ashamed and saddened that I must leave you in this way. It is my last dying wish that you should be left with a fit leader. And so, Meikou, I leave the pack to you. May you lead it well, and never lose faith in yourself. Good bye, my beloved friends."
Tears filled her vision as she remembered his words, how did this happen? She believed Xinelil to be strong, brave, fearless and a fighter, someone who’d never give up, and now. ‘He’s abandon us…’ The thought ran through her mind as she wiped away tears from her butterscotch orbs. She sniffed and let another soft whine escape her maw. ‘I don’t think I can do this.’ She admit to herself silently before Xin’s voice entered her head again. “May you lead it well, and never lose faith in yourself.” His voice echoed and her brows furrowed. ‘He’s right… I can do this. I can.’ She thought more determined now as she cleared her eyes and stood. She’d already started re-marking The Oriens with her scent. All that was left was The Kinath, and Usklhon Caverns.
Furrowing her brows, the mixed hued femme stood up on shaky legs and lifted her head skywards. She did not think about it before hand but the words left her maw in a melody of a howl one that echoed far beyond the Oriens, one she hoped Xinelil would hear and the rest of her pack. “I, Meikou here by claim The Oriens as my own. In honor of our former alpha, Xinelil, may he rest in peace. All members of Aldgar are to report to the dens immediately.” She breathed out slowly as she listened to her howl echo long after she was done. Her ears fell back as she felt her chest tighten with pain. She could do this, it would be hard, but if Xin believed she could then she indeed could.
Licking her black lips, the copper colored femora swallowed hard. She wondered what he pack mates would think, would they willingly follow Xin’s orders and follow her as their alpha? ‘Guess there’s only one way to find out.’ She thought as she made her way back up to Kinath’s peek, only for a moment taking a look back at Nyspoli’s pool. She felt as if she was leaving herself behind, a former her, as she walked forth towards a new her and a new future. Smiling Miki let a single tear escape her butterscotch orbs as she turned forward once more and headed towards Aldgar’s dens where she would meet the rest of the pack.
