Kahlem's claws tried to dig into the icy path, but it was hopeless. One more step and she could slip and tumble back down the mountain. What was she doing here anyways? Curiosity, of course. Even though the saying curiosity kills the cat was ringing through her mind, she didn't think much of it. Besides, last she looked, she was a wolf.
She glanced once up at the sky where the sun was beating down onto the snow and ice. It was a wonder of how the sun could be so bright and hot on her fur, yet the snow never melted. She had heard of avalanches from the snow that did melt, but those were sometimes rare. Of all things, I hope that sun at least melts some of the ice on this path.
Sighing, Kah lifted a paw and slowly walked along the icy path. She looked up at the tall snow cliffs around her, the thought of an avalanche strong in her mind. She knew nothing about these snow slides, but knew the only way to avoid them was to not be on the mountain. It didn't matter now, though, since she was.
There was probably only one good thing about being up here, and that was the fact that there was no other wolves. She usually was a social loner, but today she just wasn't in the mood to chat with anyone. Or worse, fight with any stupid loner who likes to beat up on the first wolf they see.
One of her paws suddenly slipped and Kah's claws scratched into the ice. She found her footing and slowly tried so stand up straight, slightly dazed. The fur on her neck and along her tail was bristling in fear, but she shook it off. At least if I die, no one will be around to laugh at me.
