Pressing paws against the soft soil of the created path leading towards the Usklhon Caverns. Still hungry and upset from Xinelil's departure, Syren continued on towards the dens. She wasn't too far from Aldgar's home, but she wasn't close either. 'It wouldn't hurt to find a snack...' Syren thought, her stomach squealing in agreement. Pointing her black nose to the ground, inhaling shortly every once in awhile. There were fainted smell of prey, maybe days old. But a fresh scent of a hare was nearby.
“I, Meikou here by claim The Oriens as my own. In honor of our former alpha, Xinelil, may he rest in peace. All members of Aldgar are to report to the dens immediately.”
Lids closing over her teal orbs as a sigh slithered through her lips. 'So Xin is actually gone.' Syren grumbled, narrowed eyes staring up at the dens that weren't too far away now. At least Xin promoted Meikou as the alpha, she seemed like she could be a good one. Trotting up the path to the dens, her stomach still churning with hunger. 'Possibly a hunt will take place after this meeting...' Syren hoped, then the sight of blackberries on a bush caught her attention. Padding over to them, she licked her lips and began plucking the berries from the bush. "Mmm food." Syren murmured to herself. It didn't matter what kind of food she was eating, she was hungry and would eat anything.
After the blackberry snack, she padded up the path to the caves. The brightness of the sun disappeared as Syren entered the den. It was dark, her eyes narrowed to get her vision used to the darkness. Jay was still in the dens, he hadn't left apparently, laying on the den's floor sleeping she assumed. Pink tongue hanging from her maw as she panted softly. There still wasn't a sign of the omega fae, but Syren wasn't really concerned. For all she knew, Shay could be lucky that Xin resigned and left, and nobody else in the pack knew about her, so Shay could leave home free if she wanted to. Shaking out her long brown hued coat then flopping onto her haunches as she waited for the rest of her pack mates.

OOC: I kind of PPed Jay, lemme know if this wasn't alright and I can fix it. :]]
He didn't know how long it'd been since Meikou's claiming howl. He didn't really care either though. Kadhi's mind was on one track and one track only. His head swam with the images of Xin's mutilated corpse, nosing burning with the scent of blood and death and Wrath. His throat was raw, singed by the acids of his stomach. Twice on his return to the dens he'd thrown up despite having nothing left but stomach acid. The scene of destruction was burned into his mind, his intense focus on it enough to make himself sick. His health had taken a sever turn for the worst in the last few hours, body shutting down until all he felt was numbness.
His movements were sporadic, jerky as he climbed the mountainous path to his home. He slipped and stumbled over loose earth, nearly falling to his death and not even caring. He felt... nothing. No pain. No fear. No more anger or sorrow. He was simply numb, void of all feeling. There was nothing left to him. Kadhi was a shadow of his former, spunky self. He'd lost his bite, his bark, that infuriating smugness rooted in insecurity. Since joining Aldgar the little brute had grown up a lot. It was killing him.
Finally the Arabian stumbled into the dens. His eyes were wild as he looked around, trying to focus. His vision was fuzzy, a reflection of his distant, shattered mind. Vaguely he made out the shapes of Syren and Jay. He would not meet their eyes though. He couldn't... It was impossible. Slumping onto the floor, he laid his head atop his paws and closed his eyes. His body still felt as if it were racked by sobs, though no more tears fell. He was shivering, cold... Finally he dared to speak, voice hoarse. "He's dead... The bastard's really dead..." Not once did his eyes open. He could not bring himself to let his pack-mates see the horrors he'd just witnessed.
Jay stirred briefly, his eyes flickering open long enough to see Syren, then watch Kadhi enter the dens sobbing, despite himself. With a yawn, he stretched out length-wise, then rolled over onto his back, his paws floating in the air. His tongue drooped from the side of his maw, panting slightly. With a shake of his head, he finally turned back over and stood, feeling as good as new. He was concerned, however, by the look on Kadhi's face.
"What's wrong, sir?" he asked, genuinely worried by whatever had the brute stirred up. Jay had been out throughout the entire ordeal and had absolutely no memory of the upheaval of the pack. For him, everything was still the same. All that was different was the evident worry in Kadhi's actions. The tears and shaking had him more than just a little frightened. He listened calmly, hoping to catch whatever the brute was mumbling. "He's dead... The bastard's really dead..." Immediately the young brute was alert, his entire body stiff. Who's dead? What is he talking about, no one's dead! Everyone else was just here, everyone was! the thoughts rushed through his head frantically.
"Wha... what are you talking about, Kadhi?" Jay stammered. "Who are you talking about? What happened!" There was now terror in his words, his eyes darting back and forth frantically, hoping to catch whatever was going on. He felt so helpless, so alone, and so young, once again. How could he know how to deal with death? It had been so long since anyone close to him had left him, and now he did not even know who was gone. "Why aren't you telling me?" he demanded, nearly in tears. There was an absolutely horrendous, sickening feeling in his stomach. He knew the news was going to be horrid, and he was simply left waiting until someone would fill him in.
Jay's eyes drifted to Syren, hopeful that perhaps the femme knew what was going on. There was nothing more that he wanted right now than to know what everyone else knew, to feel normal again. Apparently, something big had happened while he was out, and he was not sure if he truly wanted to know...
Teal orbs gazed lazily across the den as she waited, watching Jay stir on the den's floor as he began awakening. Syren smiled and lifted a brow, ruffling her fur once more. A single ear swiveled towards the cave's entrance as claws against stone became louder. 'Ah finally, someone else is here...' Syren licked her lips, rising and padding towards the entrance to greet her pack mate.
It was Kadhi, one of Aldgar's well known members. Syren was quite comfortable around Kadhi, maybe it was because he was smaller and she wasn't intimidated by the brute. But something was off, the long haired femme paused where she stood as she mimicked Kadhi's pained expression. Ears backed as her tail hung loosely between her hinds, Jay beginning to question Kadhi. Syren tilted her head in sorrow, what was wrong with poor Kadhi?
And when the Arabian brute finally spoke, Syren's heart sunk deeply. "No he's not." Syren snapped sadly. She automatically knew Kadhi was talking about Xinelil, there were no other males in the pack besides him and Jay, and both of them where here in the den. That, and he had abandoned the pack, having Meikou take his place. There were no corners around that assumption, Syren just knew. She didn't want to believe it, but she just had to accept. As Jay's brown eyes reached her teal ones, she frowned, not wanting to tell the young brute about his alpha's death.
A whine slithered through her lips as she slowly, in a pained motion, laid down on the cold cave floor. "I don't want him to be... It's not fair. Dammit... He abandoned us..." Syren growled with frustration and sadness, glaring in Jay's direction, tears flooding over her lids and sniffing. "The Alpha is no longer with us, Jay." Turning her gaze to Kadhi, she couldn't even imagine how the smaller brute was feeling. 'I didn't know Xin that long, but it must be even harder for everyone else...' This depression wasn't from her anemia, this was real feelings.
Now she would have to find another pack, since this one was broken. 'It'll never work out for me, I can never settle down.' Whimpering, she closed her eyes as the tears streamed down, two single drops darkening the cave's floor. The aura in the cave was too saddening, she didn't want to stay here, but she didn't want to leave her pack mates to sorrow alone. In her dampened state of mind, instinctively she rose her head, parted her mouth and let out a deep, long, mournful howl that echoed through the caves while the tears continued staining her face.
The toll up the mountain was longer than Meikou had expected. By the time she got up to the mouth of the dens, she was out of breath. Licking her dry, cold near frozen lips, she cranked her neck back and looked back to see if Kahlem was following. Meikou was unsure if the femme would indeed follow, she had given her quite the emotional ride. Miki felt a bit bad for having been so carefree then suddenly so serious. ‘I’ll have to take some time to get used to this whole alpha thing.’ She thought, a sigh escaping her maw.
Her butter scotch orbs peered into the dens’ mouth, however it was too dark for her to see who was inside while she was still out in the bright snow. Wrinkling her nose, she looked back behind her once more before taking a deep breath and walking into the dens. Warmth washed over her, as the den’s was much warmer than it was outside. She shook her pelt, and gave her fellow pack mates, a smile. However the smile quickly faded as she saw them, the look of sorrow on her maws. Meikou’s ears fell back and looking at Kadhi’s broken frame. It broke her heart. The sudden wave of emotions hit her, and she had to suppress a soft, muffled sob as it came out as almost a choking sound. She coughed to cover herself up. Her back turned on her back mates, she could not let them see her cry, and she wouldn’t, not as their alpha.
Taking a deep breath, the mixed colored Tundra femme gave herself a few moments to calm down. She cleared her throat and looked back to her pack mates, her friends. Licking her lips, she thought over for a moment what to say. What could she say in this moment? They were heart broken by Xin’s death, and so was Meikou but his spirit drove her. Knowing he wouldn’t want her to mourner and wallow in herself pity and woe. She knew he would want them to move on, and she would want his pack, her pack, their back to succeed to survive.
Meikou took a deep breath again and she looked over at her pack mates, Syren, Jay and most of all Kadhi. They were what were left of the Aldgar pack. They had to get through this, and they would not do it alone, they would do it together, as a family.
“He abandoned us...” Meikou’s ears fell back and her jaw locked, ‘No,’ She frowned her lip curving up slightly. “No, he did not abandon us. He may not be here with us physically but he is still with us in spirit. I doubt Xin willingly wanted to leave us. He… couldn’t have. He loved us, where were his family, and he left leaving me in charge, if he abandoned us, he would have just left, and would not have called out to us in his dying hours to leave me in charge. No, Xin left to die, but he did not want us to know. We should have known…” She trailed off the tears misting up her eyes again. She should have noticed. How could she have been so dense? He’d had little sleep, and little to eat, he hardly rested. ‘He was ill.’ She thought, shaking her head a few tears falling down her cheeks as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“His death has taken a toll on this pack, and it will take some time to get over…” She continued, her voice cracking now. “But, he would not want us to give up.” There was a determined sound in her voice now as she straightened herself out, her brows furrowed with seriousness now. “Today, we rest, and recollect ourselves, and tomorrow we go hunting.” She said with a small smile on her maw. “If we’re going to get through this, we shall do it together as a pack. We are not alone, we have each other and we are a family.” She said to them, patting closer to them as she slowly lowered herself to the warm stone floor lying beside the three closely. She nuzzled each of them, as if they where her children, affectionately, encouragingly and fondly. They where he family, and she wasn’t going to let them just give up. They couldn’t.
He could not bring himself to answer Jay's questions. The kid was still so young, so innocent in ways the rest of them weren't. Sure he'd killed that bitch earlier. That was different though. That was the death of an enemy. This... Xinelil... Now they were faced with the brutal death of a friend, a father. Jay had lost his original parents but he'd been too young to clearly recall. The fall of their alpha was much worse than anything that had happened thus far. At least, it was in Kadhi's eyes. He was now living in Hell and wasn't so sure he had the strength to claw his way back to the surface world.
Thankfully Syren had understood his utterance. She explained the words he could not currently speak, adding in her own bitter distaste. "I don't want him to be... It's not fair. Dammit... He abandoned us... The Alpha is no longer with us, Jay." She was right. It wasn't fair. How dare Xin just walk away from them, too coward to say goodbye to their faces! The Arabian's teeth grit together, his jaw clamped so tightly he felt as if he were going to break a tooth. He remained silent as he tried to gain control of himself. It felt impossible though. Kadhi was lost, trapped in a shell of his former glory with no possible route of escape. He couldn't do anything. Once again he was useless, and it was killing him inside.
“No, he did not abandon us." Meikou's voice cut through the suffocating air of the den, her words nothing like the brute had expected. For the first time since his arrival he dared to open his eyes. Shining with fresh tears, the golden gems stared vacantly at the Tundra fae. As her speech continued, emotion dared to flicker back. She didn't get it. She didn't understand. Here she was trying to replace their alpha and yet she didn't have one d**n clue! A hate filled glare spilled from the small brute as suddenly he snarled. Meikou knew nothing; she was spilling a tale of bullshit. "Shut up bitch!" he snapped irritably, up on his paws. When she tried to nuzzle him, he jerked away. Kadhi would have nothing of it. He was too far gone mentally.
Dashing to the other side of the cavern, his body was bathed in shadows as he seethed. It seemed his emotions weren't quite spent. He was on his second wind, a new rage triggered by the lies that fell from his new alpha's muzzle. Here Meikou was trying to act all high and mighty yet Xinelil's corpse wasn't yet laid to rest. He knew she hadn't even been to see the body. Miki was not a composed creature. Had she looked at the same hell he had, she wouldn't be acting so high and mighty.
"Shut up. Just shut up! he repeated, sounding more like a raving lunatic than a competent pack-mate. "You've got shit for brains if you think that load of crap is true! Don't you dare tell me what Xinelil was thinking! You don't know! You didn't see it!" He paused for a second, catching his breath. Then he continued, his voice lower, darker, lacking the hysteria it had held just moments before. "The bastard abandoned up. He was a f***in' coward! Wouldn't even say goodbye to our faces. When he left, he wasn't livin' on his death bed. Xin was f***in' fine! Nothin' wrong with him other than being a pansy ass brute. He left us like we were nuthin' but a bunch of old playthings. He didn't know he was gonna to die. He couldn't have!
He snarled, refusing to let anyone interrupt his rant. If they wanted to play the game in which they all tried to reconstruct Xin's final thoughts then fine. He'd be the winner of that little game though. He'd known Xinelil the longest. He'd seen the wreckage left by Wrath. He was the only one fit to spin such a devilish tale. Pacing back and forth, he began to mutter. "You didn't see it. You guys didn't see it. No one can ever know that something like that is going to happen to them." His voice was stronger, more frenzied, as he turned to glare at his family. "The f***in' bastard would have fought back if he'd been expecting what happened! No one in their right mind lets some scrawny little bitch paint the forest with their insides! He... He..." Tears began to fall again as tried to say the words. For the first time his voice was no louder than a whisper. "He didn't even have a head when I found him..."
Silence hung over the Aldgar members, minutes ticking by. The others were trying to digest his words; he was trying to regain his composure and failing miserably. Repeatedly he roamed in a tight circle, trying to make sense of things. He could have nothing of it though. Kadhi could not stay here. He could not live here. The Arabian could have nothing of it. These lands would suffocate him, kill him. There was only one way to save himself, and that was by denying everything that had happened in the past year. He needed to get out of there, needed to escape.
Pausing all movement, he stared brokenly at the ones he'd dared to call his family. Then he pushed himself forwards, stopping only when he stood directly in front of Meikou. His voice was cold, harsh as he spoke hate filled words. "You are not my alpha. You're nothing more than some pathetic little bitch." His eyes then swept over Syren and Jay, raw emotion driving him to sever all ties. "And you're not my family. Never have been, never will. I'm outta here." Turning, the Arabian sprinted out of the dens and down the snowy mountain side.
Horror filled the brute's eyes as he heard the words escape Syren's mouth. Jay simply could not bring himself to believe what she was telling him. "No, there's no way," he growled, suddenly back up on his feet and tensed up. "Xin was strong, brave... How could he be... There's no way that he is..." His conviction failed him. How could he fight the truth of nature? In the real world, this happened all the time. Wolves fought, alphas fell, the cycle continued on. But Jay had already lost his biological parents. Xinelil had taken him in when he was lost and alone. He had given him a home and a family, given him a reason to live. There was no way the brute was going to believe, even if Xin was dead, that he was a coward and abandoned them.
Their alpha was strong and an excellent leader. There was no way he would walk out on the pack when they needed him in such a way. Even Jay could see that Meikou was not completely cut out for the job, at least not yet. They had heavily depended on Xinelil to keep them in line and keep them from killing each other. Without him, the brute was completely lost. An involuntary stream of tears fell from the brute's orbs, clouding his vision. The screaming was loud and annoying; he could not bring himself to listen to the words that were being thrown about. How could he leave me like this? Why is he gone? I don't know what to do...
Kadhi's words cut through Jay's thoughts. In an instant, the brute was on his paws, fangs bared dangerously. He was a moment away from pouncing on the Arabian and tearing him limb from limb. "How dare you," he snarled, his body rigid and ready to spring. "He was so much more than that. And hell, Kadhi, I know you of all wolves know that. You're not as cryptic as you like to think you are. I could see how you looked up to him. It wasn't much different than how I looked to him." His tone lowered to one of a dull growl.
And like that, the brute walked out. Jay simply watched as the Arabian brute that he had fought so hard to keep out of his life walked away. He watched as Kadhi left them all behind; the only other wolf, aside from Xin, that had ever given him any sense of comfort. He was all alone again. Sure, Meikou and Syren were here. But what could they do? They knew nothing of him, where he had come from. With the last ounce of boldness the brute held in his body, he charged outside the dens. He knew his words would carry for miles; the height gave him that advantage.
"Only a coward walks away from the ones who love them. You may deny it now, but you are tied here whether you like it or not. Nothing will ever be the same, but I won't be the one to leave my family behind when they need me the most."
With that, the brute dragged himself back inside. He stared into the eyes of his new alpha, inquiry heavy and uncomfortable. "So what do we do now?" he pleaded. Jay knew absolutely nothing. He had not been given enough time with Kadhi to learn what Xinelil obviously had in mind for him, but he was not stupid enough to run off now when the pack was falling to pieces. He would stay here, at least until the foundation had been rebuild. Then he would take his chance to escape. But right now, that was not even an option...
Opening her teal eyes once more, the tears almost succeeded crusting over her lids. Rubbing her eyes with a paw and looking up at Meikou, the newest alpha of these lands. Syren wasn't completely sure about this, but also the fae wasn't educated enough about the wolves of these packs. Where they came from, how long they have been in the pack, and their history. Syren could already sense the tension building up between Kadhi and Meikou as her opinion was far different from his. Kadhi had witnessed the accident, Meikou had not. Whining softly as the savage Arabian brute lashed out at Meikou and rushed out of the dens, Syren didn't know who to feel more sorry for.
After long minutes of fighting, Jay became involved as well. Syren remained to stay silent and could only absorb the words and what was happening. Her body shaking from anxiety and fear, she didn't want to get involved in the slightest. Her eyes remained on Jay, then shifted towards Meikou. There was only three now. It was quiet after Jay's angered howl towards Kadhi. But then he spoke again of what to do. Syren shrugged, and turned her eyes onto Meikou expecting her to think of something. But before the newest alpha could say anything a distant howl reached the cave. Syren's ears perked as an unclear message was sent to Meikou.
"Greetings Alpha of these lands, I am Vee, Alpha of the land Zahir wishing to bring you news. I would happily appreciate to tell you face to face, I am at the base of your mountain."
From the sound of it, that wolf had a speech impediment, but the words were good enough to pick at. Keeping her teal eyes on Meikou, wondering if she would answer to the call. Rising to her quads Syren padded a couple paces towards the den's entrance. "He seemed urgent, Miss Meikou are you going to answer the Zahir Alpha?" Syren spoke calmly, the past slowly fading behind her. Xinelil would be missed, but Syren would give Meikou a chance in the leading role.
The words for Kadhi where like knives snapping at her. She flinched back, awe struck as she stared at him in disbelief. His small frame flinched away from her own as she to his when he snapped out at her. His smaller body scrambled away from them and into the back of the caves. Her butter scotch orbs misted over with tears and all she could see was Kadhi’s blurry outline and the shine of his teary orbs.
The brute was in a frenzy, a rampage, and Meikou although hurt, and although she wanted to object, to fight back and defend herself, her ideals, and Xinlil. She bit her tongue and gave him his room to rant. However she found as she let him speak the more it hurt, and the more hard it was to hold back her own tears. She closed her eyes, as her body trembled under the power of Kadhi’s words. Maybe he was right, maybe she was just full of shit. She felt sick, her stomach did flips and her throat constricted, as it became harder to breathe. Nonetheless, she held her breathe.
Kadhi snarled, as if daring any of them to prove him wrong. He began to pace, and watching him it made her anxious. Low, dark murmurs left his lips, but none of his words went unheard by Meikou’s ears. She blinked and salty tears overflowed from her eye lids. She turned her head away from Kadhi, her teeth tightly locked together.
"He... He..." Tears began to fall again from Kadhi’s eyes as he choked on his own words. He struggled to form the words as they seemed to escape him from his lips. And the words that next left his maw where no louder than a whisper. The dens where silent, and although his voice was nothing more than a whisper, it couldn‘t have been more clear to her, what he‘d said. "He didn't even have a head when I found him..."
Meikou’s breathe caught in her throat, and she could not explain what her body did next as the image of Xinlil’s headless torso lied on the forest floor. The scent of blood, fresh, heavy, sticky in the air. Meikou gagged. Meikou closed her eyes, as the silence passed and the sound of Kadhi’s claws tapping the dens floors where all that could be heard as he roamed in a circle in the shadows.
Meikou had been foolish.
Then the sound of his paw steps came closer and Meikou opened her eyes and looked at him as he now stood before her. At first, she stared at him, and she knew she must have looked pathetic, ears lied back, tears streaming down her cheeks, her lips quivering. But, as Meikou stared into his hate filled eyes, she was able to gain some composure. Her ears swiveled forward, erect, and her brows furrowed, and she managed to hold the quiver of her lips as she held them into a tight, thin line.
"You are not my alpha. You're nothing more than some pathetic little bitch."
Meikou’s gaze did not waver, however, and she watched him as his gaze turned from hers and towards Jay’s and Syren’s. Meikou’s lips parted, and she was surprised at how stern her voice sounded when the voice in her head wavered greatly and she felt as if she could fall over at any moment. “I’m sorry you feel that way.” She said a bit flatly, but there was sincerity in her voice. ‘I hope someday you can come back here, maybe not today, or tomorrow but in the future. I hope you can come back and forgive me.’ She thought finally turning around to watch his small retreating form as he quickly made his leave and Jay‘s words echoed in the back of her mind.
Meikou’s legs at the moment finally gave way and bucked out from under her. She fell to the den’s cold, floors with a thud and she breathed deeply, shakily. She watched as Jay spit and spat at the outside of the dens, howling an angry howl to Kadhi, she hoped his message would reach and hoped Kadhi would chew them over.
Jay walked back in, and he seemed a bit better now, she knew he’d said what he’d wanted to say. He stared into her orbs, and she felt embarrassed for having tears still fresh in her eyes as his form although so close was still blurry through her tears. He asked her a question, and for a moment she was confused as the question did not make sense. But, then she digested his words and she looked down. Paused, then shook her head. “I… don’t know.” She admit, still shaken. She’d spent her time to build herself up, ready to face her new pack, only to be shot down by the one she trusted and loved most.
Then, a distant howl reached her auds, the howl was odd, and sounded as if the brute who’d spoke it had a speech impairment. Her butterscotch orbs looked up to meet Syren’s teal ones as she asked her if she was going to answer Zahir’s Alpha. She blinked before looking to stare at her paws. She stared for a moment as if fascinated with them. She licked her lips and her brows furrowed. “Yes.” She frowned, standing up. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her paw. She turned to Syren and Jay. “I will return shortly, you may do as you like for now. You may even accompany me if you’d like.” She said swallowing a hard lump that still remained in her throat. Looking down, she let her paws carry her out of the dens and down to the mountain’s base to meet with Zahir’s alpha.
The brute dipped his head, ashamed of the actions of Kadhi. How had a wolf that he had revered so highly turned into such a heartless bastard in such a short period of time? Jay was appalled by his actions; he had been his role model, and Kadhi had stabbed him in the back, betraying all the trust he had started to have in the arabian brute. Abandoning his family in the darkest of times was simply the lowest shot that the brute could even fathom. "Zahir alpha..." he mumbled slightly. He had not accompanied Xinelil on his trip to the Occasus, but he knew of the lands, the horrible past associated with the pack. The knaves had destroyed the entire bunch of them, similar to what was happening with Aldgar right now. My family is falling apart. What can I even do to stop it? he thought in frustration.
He needed to grow up. Jay had lived in a world of perpetual puphood, and it was about time he was snapped into the real world. Not everything was going to be nice and neat. In fact, this was typical behavior for some packs. I guess I've just been sheltered for too long. I'll have to keep on going... It was the only thought that could help him gradually move on from what was happening.
And suddenly, Meikou was on her paws and out of the dens. The invitation had been extended to both Syren and Jay, but he hesitated slightly. Part of him longed to leave the confines of the dens, but the rest of him feared the world outside. After all, it had taken a short walk and the unfortunate run-in with the intruder to bring Xinelil down. A young brute such as himself would not stand a chance in a real fight. He needed some serious lessons if he were to hold his own outside of the pack. It would be a good idea to ask if anyone knows how to fight... he thought. With the knaves on the loose, there were endless possibilities of what could happen. He glanced sideways at Syren, curious of her reaction to Meikou's invitation. He built up his courage, then rose to his paws.
"I'm going to go with her... I don't know if you want to stay and keep an eye on the dens, but just sitting around is probably the worst thing for me right now," he admitted quietly. Thinking was the last thing he wanted, and if mindless lacky work was what it took to get him freed from the chaos inside his head, then that was exactly what he would do. Glancing over at Syren one last time, the brute gently trotted out of the cave, careful of the now slick pathway outside the dens. It would be treacherous in but a few weeks when the dead of winter hit Anikira. All he could do was hope that they would be alright by this time...
Syren watched as her new Alpha left the dens to answer to the call. She was a bit irked that she had to bring it up, the alpha shouldn't be told when something happens. 'But a lot has been going on recently, I'm sure Meikou will be a good Alpha... I hope...' Syren sighed shortly and glanced at Jay, he seemed a bit shook up from the entire ordeal.
The den was cold, lonely, quiet. Finally Jay spoke up, accepting the invitation and racing from the dens to catch up with Meikou. Syren nodded and watched as he left, then her teal orbs scanned the empty dens once again. She decided she wasn't going to go, someone had to be here in case Kadhi or any other pack member decided to return. She should protect it too, it was Winter time, and bears could be looking for a place to crash for hibernation. Now Syren sat, cold, lonely, quiet in the dens. She frowned looking out the den's entrance at the snowy landscape. Listening to the piles of snow from the trees hit the icy earth, but other than that it was silence. Her long brown fur began to thicken up once again, smooth and shining in her formal glory. Syren was healthy, for the time being.
Shifting where she sat, sniffing out for any signs of life. Meikou and Jay's footsteps were already covered with fresh snow, and Syren then felt alone. She hoped Kadhi would return one day, life without Xinelil would be different, but there is always a brighter side to bad situations.
