Rhyanne strode through the northern freelands, her mind wandering slightly as she strolled up to what was normally a beautiful meadow. With winter, the lovely red blossoms had faded, and now she was faced with what appeared to be nearly deadlands. But she was here on a mission, and she did not want to drag Fia into it. For safety purposes, she had wandered from the small femme, careful to clear the scent of the pup from her before she arrived. She lifted her crown, emitting a yip of a howl, summoning Dreidoj to speak with her.
The leader would be angered by her cry. He would lecture her on respect for his dealings and tell her that she had no business dragging him away. But at this point, Rhyanne did not care. She was not going to be with the gypsies much longer, and she refused to allow him any argument. It does not matter what he does. I can outrun him, she thought smugly. Perhaps her naivity was partially because she had never been apart from the band, but she had no idea what sort of problems she would cause by leaving. It never once crossed her mind that no one had ever left the gypsies. It did not hit her that those who had tried were somehow convinced to stay or just disappeared. In fact, there were so many holes in her plan that it was absurd that she had even considered this as an option. But it was not going to sink in. At least, not until trouble was staring right down her muzzle.
The femme settled on her haunches, content to wait until Dreidoj appeared. He will not be happy, not with all the crap that has gone on lately, she thought worriedly, reality starting to hit her. But it was too late. She had already called for the leader, and when he showed up, she needed a damn good explanation for her interruption. I guess this is it.
Rhyanne was ecstatic. Finally, a life away from the gypsies! She would be able to leave with Fia and they would be free from the grasps of the band. It was a new concept for her; she would be able to speak her mind, make her own decisions, and choose who she wanted to be around. She could wander the free lands with Fia or join a pack. No matter what she decided, she would be the one making the choice, not Dreidoj, Mother Yana, Acarapi... Any of them! It will be fantastic. Fia and I will be together. She will have me and I will have myself, for once, she thought. There was no more hint of apprehension.
What was the worst that Dreidoj could do, kill her? Either way, she would be free of the gypsies. Whether in life or death, Rhyanne would no longer be a captive of their manipulations. Everything was starting to fall into place, and there was not a thing in the world that could dampen the mixed femme's mood...
