He had noticed the scent change crossing the border into this eastern land, and the two young wolves’ journey had gone quicker than he expected. Though the continent was small compared to what he was used to, these lands had an air of home about them, and that was something Ryker had never felt. Or maybe, he thought, it wasn’t the land at all that made him feel like home. He turned his head to the left, catching a glimpse of the female travelling alongside him. Their jogging trot was not too quick, but it was an athletic pace, and she was keeping up with perfect time. Ryker almost laughed with giddiness. He hadn’t felt this way before, not with this magnitude. Since the two had started walking, the childlike smile hadn’t left his face, and at this point, he wasn’t worried about who saw it. As the two pushed onward into the territory of Akihra’s grandfather, the roan male let his trot slow to a walk in the long grass. The sun was slowly setting, the fields looking like the end was the edge of the world. The great fire sunk slowly through the grass and seemingly into the ground, casting beautiful colors of light into the sky in hues of purple and red. Behind them, there were no colors, just darkness with a crisp white moon dancing into the sky. As excited as he was, Ryker was truthfully reluctant to go into the territory just yet. Night was falling, and he’d been holding in so many feelings, he was emotionally exhausted. He wanted so much, and his mind hadn’t kept from wandering. His heart fluttered in his chest as he breathed. He wanted to wrap his neck around her back, nuzzle into her. He wanted to look into her eyes and feel her soul, lay with her and feel her heartbeat against his chest. Ryker was falling for the femme, and he wanted so bad to show it to her. Never the master with serious words, he was at a loss on their moving pace. He wished he could press his neck to hers and lay there forever. Feel her breathe, know her from the inside, out… Ryker stopped his thoughts dead in their tracks. The brute wasn’t going to go there, not with Akihra. He knew their relationship had potential to be incredible, and he refused to ruin it with sex. He willingly let his mind turn cold for a moment, realizing his fear of this land once again. What would the alpha think? And more importantly, to this male, what would this Tehrin character think? The red-flecked male turned to face the female, in his eyes a look of almost desperation. “I’m not ready for this,” he said shyly, but with a touch of fear and sadness in his voice. “Can we camp out here for the night?”

She was comfortable for the first time in her short life, and it was with a brute she had met only a short time ago. To be honest, Kira was drawn to Ryker; it was something about him that was blissfully optimistic. It felt as if the world could change; that wolves like her father and Tehrin and that nasty mexican wolf did not exist anymore. That she could simply decide her fate for herself for once. That, even though she was alone in her head, she was not alone in the world anymore. She had made up her decision. Kamari was going to become her home, whether that was in her sister's plan or not. Maybe it was just the silence that brought her to question why she went along with all of Tehrin's schemes, or maybe it was what Ryker had said to her. Either way, Akihra was ready to start standing up for herself. Now was a better time than ever, because now she had Ryker to stand there with her. Ryker. The peppered female glanced over at him, wondering what she ever could have done to deserve to be around someone like him. She found that, with each step, she was falling for him. He was slowly becoming a staple in her life. While she had never believed in love at first sight, love at first collision was a whole different story. Akihra could picture a different life for herself. Maybe one day she would start a pack of her own, and she would be the boss. She would feel empowered, beautiful, and wanted. Others would want to be around her and listen to her when she spoke. She would never feel like a burden, and she would know that her friends actually cared about her instead of guessing every time. She would be herself, and she would be proud of it. I guess that everyone has their trials, and mine have been rough so far. But Ryker seems to understand. I don't know what he has been through in his life, and I'm not sure that I would understand. But it feels good. It feels amazing, she thought with a contented sigh. As the brilliant orange sun set on the horizon, Akihra watched with awe as Ryker focused on the colored sky. She had never really noticed the beauty of each night, and as she followed his gaze, she found herself lost in the cosmos. As the stars spread across the sky, Akihra and Ryker were alone in the world. There was so much that could have been said in that moment. But neither of them moved, and Akihra was afraid that the world would explode around her if she did. Perhaps this was just a dream, and she would wake up eventually? Maybe the mexican brute had killed her, and she was simply experiencing some future existence that she had never known. But Akihra was startled back into reality as Ryker spoke. With a soft smile, she nodded in response, striding to sit beside him. She gazed at him inquisitively, her head falling to rest on his side. The pair of them... They were a thousand to one and a million to two. But something about it worked. Something was special about him, and she wanted to know what it was all about. With an impulse, Kira turned and nuzzled into Ryker's neck, breathing in his scent and committing it to memory. No matter what happened, it was Akihra and Ryker against the world. This much, she knew. She gently licked his muzzle and rotated to look him in the eye. No. I'm not saying I'm sorry.

She licked the corner of his maw, and stared him straight in the face with those two stunning eyes. Silver and gold locked in with Ryker’s chocolate amber eyes, and the look on his face changed from stunned to almost seductive. Oh God, he wanted her. The red roan male thought of all the life to come; the pack life, the meeting of the family, maybe even excelling in the ranks; it was all so exciting. But the part that was the most enticing of all was his life with Akihra. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t worried about Tehrin, and even Torrah. He wanted Zethrox to accept him, and for him to fit into Kamari like it was a glove. He had worries, and they were abound. But not tonight. The male’s attention was focused fully on the female in front of him. With slow steps, he brushed his body against the entire length of hers, turning around and moving to her opposite side. With gentle touch he moved until his head was beside hers. A swift lick on the nape of her ear, and he slid his head under her chin, pushing up just slightly. Sure, Ryker loved her emotionally; but the physical side wasn’t one he’d been able to show, and he was loving the opportunity. They had been travelling for a few weeks, and he felt perfectly natural with the contact. “Just one night off, just maybe?” he purred in her ear, his voice like honey. “Because I think I love you.” Suddenly, in a dipping motion, he moved his body until he was in front of her and knelt into a play-bow type position. He giggled and met her eyes, sure that his antics would bring her laughter. But in a sudden pang of seriousness, the smile fell from his face, and Ryker stood. Walking forward, he pressed his forehead against hers and shut his eyes softly. “Stay with me, Akihra,” the roan male said in a tenderized whisper. “Be mine.”

Be mine.” The words echoed in the eastern timber female's ears, and it took but a few seconds until the meaning of them registered. She paused and replied softly, "I... I think I love you too..." She hated to sound so insecure. She hated to feel inadequate. And most of all, she hated that she was not in control. This was such a foreign feeling to her. Akihra was used to being calm and collected, but right now her breath was heavy as she stared into the brute's eyes and saw the desire there. She was sure there was a similar gaze in her own mismatched orbs, and she was dying to test the boundaries of this newfound passion. But was she ready for this? Akihra shuddered as the brute rubbed against her, and her body reacted instantly. His voice was so seductive and comforting that she could not possibly succumbed to the inner terror. Every part of her body was screaming to stop, but her heart simply would not let it take control. She could not stifle the reactions to his touch, his voice, the feeling of his breath on her neck... She was mesmerized. "Ryker..." she breathed out, so softly that if he had not been so close, she knew he would not have been able to hear. But she had intended to encourage him. She wanted him. And she wanted him now. Screw what happened before. She was strong enough to do this. She loved him, right? Akihra was adamant that she was not traumatized by the situation with that horrid mexican male. She would be able to give herself, for real this time, to someone who actually cared for her. This would be different. She would feel different because she wanted to feel different. There would not be any of the pain or terror associated with that awful attack. She wanted this... Right? Akihra licked at Ryker's ears, nibbling on the tip as if to tease him. She would not grace him with her voice again. She smirked, the mischevious twinkle in her eyes speaking for itself. She wanted to torture this brute, make him see exactly what she wanted. In one fluid motion, she whirled her hindquarters into his face, flaunting what she knew he wanted. Her tail flicked teasingly in his eyes, as if encouraging him forward. I want him, she thought. But it was just that. A thought.
