Sapphire hadn’t really known what to expect with the idea of a re-acquaintance between herself and the second friend she had meet on this strangely homely island. When she had finally caught up to Ulrich, at the base of the Orien mountains, he hadn’t seemed all that interesting in getting to know her once more. In fact, there was something of an urgency in him that had told her she had interrupted something – his journey up the mountains where he could live out the remainder of his life in piece and solitude. Re wasn’t all that much that the fae could do to stop someone who wanted only a quite life like that. She had let him go and she knew in her heart that there was a chance she may never see the other again. He had been a good friend, in the short time that she had known him. Although he was terribly quite and private he had seemed honourable.
Sapphire had somewhere else to be now, and she almost laughed at the idea that she was actually busy. After so long of wondering alone it seemed strange that suddenly she had places to be and people to see. She was in the Orians already – now she just needed to find another wolf, a friend once more. So far she hadn’t caught the scent of Jay – but she knew he was around here somewhere. This place was the place he had lived in once, when a pack had owned it and he had told her that he would come here – which coincidentally was also the place that the scent or Ulrich had lead her. She raised her head now and howled – but this time her call was for another, someone that had so quickly meant a great deal to her, someone she would... no, there was no one she would die for, her mother made that very obvious to her. Sapphire would never repeat the mistakes of her sires – she would never let love bring her existence to an end. She would always go out of her way for others – her live in Evian had seen to that, it was the code she was raised by – but her life was hers, and hers alone.
The sun was breaking out above the sky now, night had ended well she had let her weary thoughts take her mind from her. the cool air was already warming, and she knew that soon enough the life in the Orian’s would awaken. Her paw-steps quickened across the earth – she needed to find Jay. She needed to find the friend she was hoping to spend the rest of her life with, to start a family with (pack wise rather then mate wise) oh, where was he, that friend of hers.
The grey brute had wandered back into his homeland, but he could not find a way to reconnect emotional. The Oriens were full of memories; hurt, pain, recovery, fury... Most of the things he associated with this place were negative, and that was not at all what he expected. Jay had anticipated that he would find joy upon returning here. He had even considered suggesting to Sapphire that they take up the Oriens as their new home. But now the brute was not so sure about that idea. After all, he could hardly remember the happy few months that he had spent the remainder of his puphood. Kadhi had always nagged him and goaded him about his failed attempts to hunt, and he had always doubted himself under Meikou's leadership. It seemed as if nothing felt right here anymore. It was almost sacrilegious for him to return under such circumstances.
I guess everything wasn't quite as good as I had remembered. It was wistful thinking that he would find peace here. Jay had not quite realized how much sorrow there was in the Oriens. Now, he wanted to do whatever it took to leave. They could establish themselves elsewhere. Even Alearia had refused to return here. She had warned him that there was a possibility that he would resort back to his former misery upon return, and now he could understand why. Jay felt the tug of woe once more, but it was not the encompassing, all consuming despair that he had once felt. Getting his story off his chest had been enough to dampen the pain, at least for now. The brute lowered his muzzle to the ground and inhaled deeply; Sapphire had been around here recently. Luckily, it seemed that she had stayed near the border of the territory. The brute took off at a gentle gallop, eager to regroup with his friend so that they could discuss the future. He was content to move on from here.
The miles passed, and each step brought him closer to Sapphire. Jay was beside himself to see his beautiful friend; she had brought him so far in so little time, and he would forever be grateful to her. Finally, the grey wolf spotted her silky form. He let out a short bark in greeting, slowing himself in order to greet her properly.
Jay's face was the picture of happiness as his dipped his crown to the femme. "Sapphire, I missed you," he breathed, approaching her and nuzzling her neck affectionately. He was ecstatic that she had not abandoned him; there had been that nagging thought in the back of his head that she was going to flee as soon as she was out of his sight. But here she stood, and it seemed as if she had been waiting for him.
"I've realized something," he murmured softly, backing away from Sapphire to look her in the eye. "This territory means nothing to me anymore. All there is here is bad memories and pain. I can't imagine staying here any longer. At least, remaining here." He stopped talking abruptly, realizing that, as always, he was rambling. The brute reddened beneath his fur.
"What I'm trying to say, is that whatever you want to do, I will follow. I don't have anything holding me back anymore."
((OOC: I was out of town this weekend and my mom's cut off the internet at our house so I had to wait til I got back to my apartment to get any of these up. Sorry bout the wait!))
Raising her head to see into the distance, the white fae saw the shape tearing across the earth towards her. Effortessly, even unknowlingly, a smile changed her hardened expression. His pace slowed, and a soft sound of greeting left his maw. Her eyes followed his movements, she herself pulling to a stop and let his strides bring him back to her. He could see her own joy reflecting in the eyes of her friend as he stopped before her. Nuzzling his head against her neck in the gesture of friendly fimiluarity as words broke through the silence. "As I missed you, dear friend" she promised him gently, her eyes never lifting from him, now that he was here once more she was sure that it would be a while before eaither needed to part - there friendship had grown only stronger by there absence.
"I understand, Jay - there is no longer anything here for eaither of us. Come, let us leave this place" She murmured to him, as he truthfully told her what he had learnt in his short return here. She could not agree with him more - this place was to quite, to surrowed, Ulrich had given it that sense for her.
"From now on Jay - where we go, we go together. In fact, I did have an idea - if you want to seriously consider the idea of a pack we could begin to scout out lands until we find the one we wish to remain in, possibly for the rest of our lives. What do you think, dear friend?" She wondered, her eyes gentle as they rested upon him. Somehow she felt it didn't really matter where they ended up, so long as wherever they where they where together.
What Sapphire had just suggested to him was something that Jay had never imagined would be possible. Our own pack... The thought had been wistfully lingering in his mind since the two had promised to travel together, but never would he have thought Sapphire would be privy to the idea. Jay was ecstatic, but he was doing his best to keep from showing the sheer excitement he was currently experiencing. She'll never want to keep that promise if I can't stay calm, he chided himself, not really knowing what they needed to do to start a pack or even find lands suitable for one. The Oriens had been all he had ever known, and since he was uncomfortable here, that was not an option.
As his friend suggested scouting out some land, he nodded vigorously. "I would love that," he admitted shyly, not feeling comfortable to express his true excitement at the idea. "Whatever you are wanting to do, I will follow you."
He was almost starting to feel like a burden to Sapphire. What could he possibly offer to a new pack other than his presence? True, this solved the problem of finding a pack that would accept Alearia upon her return; he was sure she was waiting nearby, possibly listening to their conversation as well. The little owl knew nearly anything the brute would ever need to know, and she would be a great help to him. But even with the asset of his friend, he and Sapphire would be hard pressed to form a new pack. There was so much to consider, and it was overwhelming to the brute. This couldn't possibly be something that they could do on there own, was it?
The brute watched Sapphire with a quiet sigh. He was excited at the prospect of a new family, but there were so many different scenarios to consider. He would have to gather his wits about him, or he would not be able to handle this. "This is beyond what I ever thought I could be capable of," he admitted. He did not want Sapphire to be aware of his insecurities, but this was not something he could keep from her if they were going to start a pack together.
"I've never thought I could amount to anything large. I mean, I am just a scared brute who has had a lot of crummy situations thrown my way. You're intelligent, quick-witted, and beautiful Sapphire. What could I possibly have to offer to the pack?"
((OOC: I know this isn't the best, and I'm sorry lol))
Sapphire's idea was out there now, for best or for worse. Until she had meet Jay she had never actully considered the idea of starting a pack of her own, but now that the idea had crossed er she was consumed by it. She thought of Evian, how calm and gentle the pack was, the extent the leaders would go to look after the members in there pack. The only issue that had driven her from the pack was there lifeless peace, how they roamed there flowery terratory with what seemed to be without a purpose, how they where so weak that when havok struck they where helpless. What ever pack Sapphire started, they would be strong, they would look after eachother but more then that, they would look after others. They would keep strong on there selfless quest to look over other wolves around them, not just there own but strangers as well.
Jay admitted his worries now, how creating a pack was beyond anything he had considered before and he sounded like he was unsure if they woul be capable of it. Sapphire smiled gently at her friend, thinking as he was of all the problems they may encounter in there quest for a pack. "Once we put our minds to it Jay, nothing will hold us back - you'll see" she promised him with a gentle laugh, knowing her own stubborn habits wouldn't be letting up anytime soon.
His next question however threw her off guard, she knew he had been through a hard tiem but never had she expected that he would think so little of himself. "My dear friend - you see so little of yourself. Your my friend - Your strong, and your kind. All these are aspects I wil l hold very dear in any pack we create. Friendship, strength, kindness, these are what make you who you are Jay, and they are what will make our pack. I understand if you do not want to lead this pack beside me but dont ever think that I will leave you behind. No matter how many wolves enter this pack or how it turns out, you where my first friend and my closest. You will always hold the most sway over me, you can be a Beta, that way you will not have to worry to much about responsibility but never worry that your words wont have sway over me - they always will" She took a breath after her speeching, watching him to make sure he really understood what she was trying to say - which was how important he was to her.
Every day, Jay was more astounded by how Sapphire treated him. She was quite obviously superior to him in nearly every imaginable way. He was not confident, strong, or skilled. She was poised, upfront, and had everything figured out in her head. It still confused him why she would waster her time with him. But time and time again she picked him up off the ground, and he would be lying if he said that it was not the most appealing quality about her. Sapphire was a unique individual, and he would forever be grateful for what she had done for him. She had brought him back to life, and he would remain with her and help her for as long as she felt the need to bear the burden of his presence. Secretly, he wondered if the day would come sooner or later that she would tire of his presence. He had never had much to contribute to Aldgar, and he was certain that things would not dramatically change with their new pack. After all, once a pup, always a pup. The nickname Kadhi had given was forever ingrained in his mind. He would forever be that useless little wolf, until he found a way to break himself from the barriers that he had built up over the years.
"You are by far the sweetest wolf I have ever known," Jay breathed softly, a smile spreading across his muzzle once more. When Sapphire spoke to him that way, he felt confident and powerful. To make things even better, she wanted him to be her Beta; that in itself was an honor that he would be foolish to refuse. It was power, but it was also a back seat position. He would not have to lead the pack himself; he would be counsel to Sapphire when she wished to have his opinion and the brute to which wolves would answer should they decide to go against Sapphire's wishes. He was comfortable being under Sapphire's reign. He found that the thought itself brought him more comfort than he would have imagined.
"I will do whatever you wish for me to do. I will forever appreciate everything you have done for me, and you are my dearest friend. Between you and Alearia, I am not sure I will ever have room to love anyone else," he admitted, a nervous chuckle catching in his throat. Sapphire had made no mention of Alearia, either. While he imagined that she simply thought of them as a pair, he was hopeful that she would not turn out the snowy owl. He knew Sapphire and Alearia had been at odds at first, but she would not turn away his friend. She is not that kind of wolf. We are friends, and this will be our pack. That means that I can let who I want in the pack too, right? he thought inquisitively. Surely the femme would be open to his companion in their pack.
"So, Sapphire," he started, sounding more confident with each spoken word, "where shall we go? What will we call our pack? I can't believe this is something we can actually do together." The youngster in Jay had never completely died away. The idea of this new adventure brought it all bubbling up to the surface, and his heart started racing. The brute breathed evenly, attempting to calm himself down. It had been a long time since his heart murmur had given him serious problems, but the last thing he needed right now was to pass out on the ground. Then Sapphire would surely leave him; he was not in completely good health, and that would be an inconvenience, would it not?
Even after all that the femme had said, Jay doubted how much she could truly care for him. It was not that he did not trust Sapphire. In fact, he probably trusted her more than he trusted himself. It was merely the fact that Jay could see the potential in Sapphire, while he failed to see the potential in himself. He was just a pup, like Kadhi had always called him, with a bunch of emotional baggage. It would take a long time before Jay found himself able to see himself clearly.
The thoughts going through the minds of the two wolves was very, uniquly diffrent. Sapphire looked upon Jay and thought of there friendship, as he did only for her she thought of the potentiel that there friendship and there futures held. She thought of how there long-lasting friendship would be the first step into starting her own life, how he was the only wolf who had made her want to stay. He thought of how diffrent they where, where there friendship might end because of there diffrences. She thought of how they complimented each other - he would always keep her down to earth with his worries well her mind wanted to take her the stars and back. How she respected the need to be needed - now that she had Jay she had someone she could look out for and she had never had that before; she would die for him.
When Jay told her that she was the sweetest wolf he had ever meet, she was almost sadened - had the wolves from the pck he had come from treated him badly, put him down and made him feel like he was a big part of the pack. Maybe she was reading to deeply into it, and anyway - it was the past. In the future nothing and no one was going to cross her friend and get away with it, and that was that. "Alearia... she will be okay with the pack idea wont she? I'm not too sure if she was intending on joining a wolf pack again or not. I guess we'll have to find her before we get carried away" she grinned to the wolf, fully understanding that the owl will have a part in anything big the wolves get themselves into. For better or worse she was apart of Jay.
Soon enough an ouutburst or questions came from her friend, causing the far to laugh gently once more. She got only warmth and friendship from the other wolf, there was no hatred, nothing that would ever make her doubt him, inside the other. "Jay, we will travel until we find what we are looking for, and we will find the wolves that will fit right into our pack. As for a name, how does Isata sound?" Filled with the thoughts of the future she began to walk, heading to the outskirts of the terratory hoping that that would be where they would find there other aquantance. Unsure why Alearea had not followed Jay into pack lands, she simply trusted that the bird would find them when she wanted to.

It was obvious that Jay was pleased by Sapphire's answers. If it was not evident on his face, the fact that his tail could knock over a stampeding buck would have secured the thought. He was growing more confident in the plan by the minute; each word that Sapphire spoke confirmed to him that this was what they needed to do. The brute licked his lips, eager to press forward and bring them one step closer to their new lives. The fact that she was willing to include Alearia made the future much brighter, as well. Jay could not imagine life without her at this point. He could hardly believe that it was no more than a year ago that the little owl had stumbled into his life, causing him all sorts of chaos and distress. He could not imagine how he would have gotten this far without her direction. Since Kadhi had failed in teaching him to hunt properly, Alearia had taught him. He would forever be indebted to his friend, and the least he could do was offer her protection from the predators in the world.
Isata.
The name had a lovely ring to it. It was sweet and delicate, just like its future alphess. Jay smiled and nodded at Sapphire, though he kept his thoughts to himself. There was no reason to make the situation awkward by professing to the femme that he was slowly falling for her. She was a great friend, and he would never do anything to complicate the situation. She will be my alphess. I must keep things as uncomplicated as possible, he confirmed to himself. There was no reason to make things harder for himself. He would never have an opportunity like this come along; there were not many wolves that would agree to live with a bird of prey, and there were even fewer that would accept him into a position of authority. While he did not crave power, it would be nice to call the shots from time to time. What wolf didn't want that?
"Alearia will be happy with whatever we decide," he confirmed shyly, the thought of his friend bringing a smile back to his muzzle. He missed the bird already; it was as if he had just gotten her back, and now she had wandered away once more. Jay could not wait to press forward to find some place that was not the Oriens. He never believed the day would come that he would so desperately itch to get away from his old home. "Isata sounds lovely. I can't wait to find where we are supposed to be..."
Times change, he thought with a grin. This was a new chapter for him. For them. For all three of them, together.
((OOC: Not amazing, not horrible. I'm just trying to get up with my posts lol...))
Sapphire was fine to simply wait and let the thoughts of the other wolf take there paths. She watched him instead, as he fell silent for at least a short while after she had spoken. He looked so thoughtful, like he was ready to give everything consideration, a proper thinking through. She found herself grinning at the other, wondering how she had become so lucky as to find him. He was a unique wolf, she had never meet another like him, she wanted to always be at his side. But that was only because of there stead-fast friendship. THe strong fae couldn't possibly be falling for him... could she? Of course, even the idea itself was ridiculuious, Sapphire did not believe in love.
Jay spoke now, he truly sounded excited about the idea of a pack and it seemed that for the time being at least the fae had calmed his worried and that her answers had been enough. They moved, slowly but sureluy bringing themselves from the terratory of the Orians, leaving the past behind them both. For Sapphire it was leaving behind a wolf she had thought she would remain with for at least a little while, only to learn that it was the quite, solitery life that he was after. For Jay, it was his old pack, an entire life he had built for himself that had come crumbling down. She turned her gaze to him again for a moment, marvelling at his strength. Sapphire had chosen to leave her life, she had grown up and moved on in her own free will. Jay had been forced from everything he knew and had come out of it a fantastic wolf.
Sapphire trusted Jay to watch her back, maybe he was rediscovering himself and would not always be confident but Sapphire did not doubt for a moment that he would not let her down. There was something about him, something that drew out her trust and her friendship - the sweeter side of her. She swore she could already feel her pride lessening, and the more important aspects of life taking hold inside of her. Maybe she had helped bring Jay back to life, but he was helping her to finally start one. It was like the two where made for each other, at least in the eyes of friendship. She didn't like him in that other kind of way, no, of course not, that would be crazy... She just had to keep telling herself that.
