The large brute padded along the desert sand and watched as the landscape soon reached grassy places as he neared the raging river. A dark blue eye scanned the river as it threatened to take any animal away with icy fingers if one got to close to its' rocky rapids. The male stopped at the waters edge and lapped up a few sips of the icy water as foam sprayed across his muzzle.
The land was perfect for one who wished life to be a constant challenge. Only those who wished to fight for survival for his days spent in the dry desert where the air merely crackled in the heat. The river called to him as the desert first had. He wished to start a pack but finding members who wished to join and would be suitable for the desert climate would be difficult. He would only take the toughest of wolves; the one's whose will to survive was high. He raised his scarred muzzle to the sky and stared at its' clear blue rays as sunlight streamed down unmerciful upon those who shared the desert terrain.
A sigh escaped his lips as the wolf thought of being an alpha; it would be difficult for he had many ways to change about him. He could be a cold and heartless Alpha but he did not wish to be so. None would follow him if he were like that. The half blind brute traveled away from the river to sit in a grassy area. Falling back on his back he stared at the clouds musing over what he should do to go about making a pack. Friends were a first thing; only to get over his social awkwardness. It would be difficult but he was confident in himself. A challenge was welcome to him and he enjoyed competition. The desert was perfect for him. He stared up the puffy cotton balls in the sky and closed his eyes; and a sense of peace overcame him.

The desert was perfect, or at least on the surface it seemed so. Things were constantly changing with the shifting winds and travelling sand dunes that danced across the barren wasteland. Ripples appeared and danced in the sand as small particles twisted and tumbled through the air as the dry wind picked up and dashed across the world. There was no other place like the desert, a land of chaos and confusion if not a little dry and barren. None of the obvious flaws seemed to bother the dark female that stalked across the land as if it was nothing. Her large paws pressed themselves into the hot sand as her chiseled head sat poised and observant against her rolling shoulders. Her tongue hung out lazily as her tail hung lax between her legs. Behind her, paw prints began to fade as the wind continued blow horizontally through the land. The hair on one side of her pelt was swirling and matting itself into strange patters and she moved perpendicular to the wind’s gusts and across the top of one of the larger dunes. She felt no panic or tension in her body as she moved easily across the world before her. For once, her brain was not at war with itself much like it normally was.
After a while of travelling in one direction, she suddenly shifted so that she was now facing the wind and its persistent gusts. Lowering her head slightly, she pushed off with her powerful back legs and leapt off of the high ridge on the dune. For a moment, she was suspended in midair before her small body was suddenly sent crashing downward. Her front legs hit the side of the dune and sent her pitching forward so she was thrashing and tumbling her way down the length of the sand mountain. When she finally reached the bottom, she slid to a stop and was, for a moment, completely motionless. After a few seconds, she popped to her feet and gave a massive shake to her pelt, sending little granulates of shredded rock into the air to join all of the others. After she gathered herself once more, she stepped off in the direction of lower ground and what her nose told her was water. After her little tumble, she figured she could use a bit of refreshment.
She lowered her head against the wind and picked up a quick trot toward the point where her nose told her to go. After a little bit of trekking and leaving her footprints to fade away into the existence of the desert, she finally came across the point where the red sand met the flowing chaos of the river. Sighing deeply, her deep mocha pools focused in on the bright white and blue streak in the land. Leaping the last couple of feet, she landed with her front legs in the shallow pool of water that was gathering in a slight bend of the river. Lowering her head, her ribbon of a tongue slid forth and lapped up the water that then slid down her throat, refreshing her body. After a moment, she lifted her head and glanced about, the strong scent of a male suddenly assaulting her nostrils. She stepped back quickly and her ears lay flat against her skull as she slowly inched her way toward a nearby dune. She climbed it with trepidation before allowing her gaze to look down at the dark male laying on the sandy bank of the river. Her body froze as she contented herself with watching for the moment, simply watching and waiting.
A sleek young Red Wolf silently padded through the vast desert. Currently, she was thinking about how nice it would be to have a pack of her own. She certainly wouldn't settle for following the rules of someone else. Yes, that wouldn't be the ideal way for her to live because then she would have to listen; and this lady in particular didn't enjoy doing that too often. She flicked her ears as she dreamed about this pack of her's. It would be the most powerful pack of all of Anikira... Wait, scratch that, it would rule over all of Anikira! She chuckled to herself as she rolled onward down the tall dunes.
Her light-brown eyes settled on the beige mounds before her and discovered that up ahead was a river. As she got closer, she found that the river wasn't exactly a calm one. The waters of the river would tumble and crash up against the sides and make quite a lot of sound as it rushed onward. Well, if there's a river... Then there must be some possible prey to take down... she thought to herself with a small giggle and a lick of her lips.
She was hungry for some fresh meat right then, her smile then quickly vanished as she realized the immense pain in her stomach. "There has to be something to eat around here" she said quietly to herself as hunger to gnawed at her stomach. Her wish for food was then granted a few moments later as she spotted the remnants of a deceased Fennec fox. She went over to the small body and examined what was left. I wonder who killed the little shit she thought to herself as she sniffed the rotting meat. "It'll have to do..." she said with a sigh before devouring the rest of the small body.
After finishing her small meal, she continued on toward the river. As the hill she was on began to go downward, she quickly picked up her pace and rushed toward the water. The wolf then could make out two others, of her kind, near the water. "I suppose it's about time for me to socialize..." she said with a small smile as she trotted toward them both. The desert was a wonderful place for those like her.
The male sniffed the air from where his bodice lay on the grass of the desert by the raging river. The scent of two females was being drawn to him from the way the wind blew and he became weary. He felt a pair of eyes watching him and he rolled over collecting his paws underneath him and crouched ready to spring if the need aroused itself. The female had her ears flat against her skull and he couldn't tell if she was fearful or merely wary as was he. He rose to his feet letting his tail dangle and his head held high yet his fur bristled slightly as he studied her. He wasn't about to take risks when it came to other wolves but he wasn't about to attack either. At least not unless she provoked him; but it didn't seem like she would.
His right eye was averted as a female that smelled of dead Fennec fox reached his nose. Well. It's nice to know there's prey around here. Even if it is eating another carnivore. The thought didn't bother him a bit but the small fox didn't seem to be enough to fill a grown wolf's belly. Still he had chosen the sandy terrain as his home and he'd live with his choice. A challenge was exactly what he wanted. He studied them calmly. The second female seemed a bit more bold than the first and he decided to keep an eye on her even though she seemed to have no intention to attack.
He let the hairs on his body lie flat and he planted his rump on the ground pricking his ears forward watching them both with cold speculation. Though some females he'd come across in his travels had been annoying and downright rude these seemed to be okay at first glance. They were at least better than males. To him males were untrustworthy and arrogant and he got along better with those of opposite gender than ones of his own. Fights always seemed to arise when he was around other brutes. He finally decided it was time to speak so he opened his maw still thinking of what words to say. Though formalities were dull and not his thing he decided to go with proper etiquette and introduce himself. No need to provoke anyone just yet. ”My calling is Blitzkrieg. Who might you two be?” he called out addressing them both in a calm but slightly chilling tone. The coldness was to warn them not to try anything. He wasn't taking chances and he would make it known he wasn't a fool to be underestimated.

She remained completely motionless as her dark mocha pools watched the male laying in the small valley before her. The sand seemed to constantly shift beneath her paws but she restrained herself from moving her feet. It was his next reaction that finally broke her stillness as her body tensed again and her tail curled around a back hind leg. Ever so slowly, she turned her head to view the other female that had entered the picture, smelling of fresh blood and a confidence that put Zaylin off and made her ears flatten even closer to her head. She kept one eye on the new female and one on the male whose attention was completely upon the two of them now. She heaved a large sigh, figuring that there was no backing out of this now that she had happened upon the male and the other female had happened upon them.
Slowly, she began to creep down the hill, her eyes still splitting their duties as if she were cautious of the male’s defensive posture and anything that might come from the bold looking female. As she slid and stepped her way down the slope of the dune, she was careful to stray all over the face of the sand, leaving paw prints and slide marks in erratic patterns all over the place. When she finally reached the bottom, she realized just how small she was compared to the male that was now standing a little ways away from where she stood. It was now that she could allow her eyes to range over him and take in his features with a closer inspection. However, her attention did not last long as she was suddenly aware of how close this other female was and she was still moving closer, making Zaylin quiver slightly before she became still once more.
The male’s voice suddenly cut through the air and her attention swung back to him but her ears remained flattened against her skull, burying themselves into the multi-colored hair on her skull. Slowly, she allowed her own words to form after deliberating over his statement and then forming her own. ”I’m Zaylin. Pleasure.” She was not one of many words so he would have to deal with what he was given until he asked for more and she decided to give it. She was also careful to raise her voice enough so that the approaching female could hear her name as well and she would not have to repeat it again. It was then that she really concentrated upon the male once more and the smallest of smiles danced across her lips as she noticed that he could not see out of one of his eyes. There was a strange chaos in those different colored eyes that put her more at ease around this new character in the story of her life. Slowly, one ear began to pick itself up before lazily resting higher than the other.
