The lone dame wandered the meadow in search of a water source that she could use to quench her thirst. Her long limbs moved lithely toward a thin stream that ran through a small section of the meadow. It looked delicious; she could barely wait for the moment her tongue came into contact with the ice-cold water. Mmmm... But wait, there was someone nearby. Her jowls raised in frustration. Would she have to defend herself for just one damn drink of water again? Hopefully not. The last time she'd had a drink was when she got into a little scuffle with a territorial coyote who wasn't willing to share. The fight didn't end well... For her opponent. However, her body was still a little sore from the small canine's agile attacks. She continued to approach the stream with her tail held high to signal that she wasn't one you'd want to pick a fight with. Her snarl turned into a sly smirk as she got closer to the water; it was as if she was hiding something from everyone else.
On the inside, her mind wasn't at ease. She wondered if she could make it in this new part of Anikira; she had wandered around the same area that she was born in for so long that she wasn't sure if she would be able to adjust to the new conditions of Caurus. She was glad to leave her home-land though, it was nice to start fresh. It was also nice to not have to constantly be reminded of your past by your surroundings. Deep down inside her heart, although she would probably never admit it out loud, she was scared of what would come.
Oka's head was whirling, her thoughts reeling with the scene that had just played out before her. The one wolf she had trusted in her life, gone. Just like that. How could he do that to her? His sister, his only sister. His last remaining kin. Her body was tore between breaking down in tears, the hurt and anguish begging to be released from her heart, running far, far away from here so that her eyes would never lay upon her most previous attacker, and returning to the clearing where she had left the pair and taking their precious lives away from them. First, Scout. Her blood-thirsty side pleading to sink it's teeth into his neck and rip out his throat. Vulgar, yes, but sounding oh, so sweet that her teeth were tingling in anticipation. But, she could see the look or horror and ultimate hurt in her brother's face that he would serve her if she was to do that. 'Have you forgotten what he has done to you so soon? He deserves whatever is coming to him.' And part of her believed that. But, part of her couldn't bring herself to hurt Toklo, her kin, on a such a level. Even if he had hurt her first.
But, her heart was bleeding. She could feel it. She wasn't sure how he had done it, but he had somehow ripped into her heart, causing it's pain to flow into all the parts of her body. She felt nauseous, wanting to vomit away her pain, but knowing that it would never help. She could hear the trickling of water nearby. Maybe a drink would help.. She couldn't remember the last time she had something to drink, and now she found herself parched. She made her way toward the water source, her paws aching from exhaustion, when her senses caught scent of another wolf. Her hackles immediately began to raise, more out of instinct that fear or anger. She kept herself alert as she neared the stream.
A femme waited there, not particularly waiting for her per-say, but lingering by the water nonetheless. The two look a lot a like, same sort of coloring, same weight. But the stranger had three inches on her. Oka was in the mood for a fight, but not with a stranger. She preferred to take her anger out on those responsible for her anger and not necessarily on a complete stranger. The red wolf did not look menacing to Oka, so she continued to the stream, minding her own business, even letting the fur on her shoulders and spine to relax some. She bent over the water, catching a glimpse of her reflection, but quickly closed her eyes and lapped up a few gulps of the icy water. It was the perfect medicine to her dry, raw throat and the liquid helped clear her head of today's events. She was alone now. No more Toklo beside her at night or to help her hunt, no more Toklo to protect, as much as he didn't think he needed her protection. And the reality of it all forcing the final tear that broke her heart in half. Count --> 547 words Muse --> highhhh Tags --> Hornet
