Isolation; Toiro, Spirit, or both

The contrast of this snowy haven to the green, fruitful gardens he had begun to associate this place with was a down heartening sight. It brought back too many memories for the strong beta, Looking upon the thick trees of the territory, and the open land beyond it, it reminded him too much of the scenery some years earlier when his sister had been taken from him. Looking at the snow, a realisation dawned upon Kastiel. The alpha here, his first and dearest friend had altered the sadness that had always descended upon him in the coldest season of the year. It had been in winter that he had first stumbled upon this place, his home and this season marked it to be a year since his arrival, since he had found Toiro and spent the storm sheltered in his territory and for the first time in his life found acceptance. Toiro... he had not seen his Alpha for some time, he had not seen anyone for a while because of the snow, and how the beta had run himself ragged in his searches for food, his steel-strong determination to refresh the border markings after every snowfall. He had hunted and buried the kill by the dens for the others on a regular bases, but he had not socialized with any of them for a gradually building long period of time. His heart ached knowing he had not seen dear Spirit in all this time. The wound he had received on that memorable day with her had all but fully healed now, and he was sure that the wound would remain a scar upon his weary, worn coat, but it was time that would tell him that. The beta was determined to play his part in this pack out fully, he would never let Toiro down, but he was beginning to regret his isolation. There was once a time he sought to be only by himself... But Toiro and Spirit had changed that in him. Longing for the company of the two, he raised his head and he howled out the names of these two amazing wolves, he only hoped one would reply to him.

The throbbing in her shoulder would not cease to exist. It reverberated throughout her muscles and her pelt. She swore she could feel the pain in the very tips of her fur. Sure, the cold weather numbed it, but once she escaped that cold air and into the warm safety of her den, the pain came back with an even greater intensity. Honestly, she couldn't say she was irritated with the winter weather that was about, as it provided her relief for her pain every now and then. However, it was painful in more ways to stay outside than it was to remain inside. If she was outside for prolonged periods of time, then there was a chance that she could get even sicker. Often times, she wasn't sure what to do about her injury. It was healing nicely, now that there was no longer much infection, but it still ached and would certainly leave a mark once everything was said and done.

Spirit snorted lightly as the cold began to numb her skin, relieving her of her pain for the next hour or so. She would not stay out for long, perhaps only long enough to get herself some exercise and something to satisfy her grumbling belly. She had managed to keep up with her patrols on a daily basis, splitting the time to go out and patrol between hunting and walks. Walks were a good thing for her at the moment, all things considered. It was painful for her to sit around all the time, but there was not much in general that she could do in her state. She tried to do what she could, though, especially with her new rank in place. Lead Warrior. That was still a title she was far from accustomed to, and it would take some time for it to sink in. She held quite a few responsibilities with this, including being the leader of the pack's fighting force, which was not much.

She brushed her dark fur carefully against the leafless underbrush, taking a slow pace as she wandered through the forest. Her golden eyes remained on alert mode, watching out for anything that could want to jump out and eat her. Bears especially... She shuddered at the memory, her black fur puffing up in all directions due to her unease with the situation. She didn't really want to be in this forest, but it had been quite a while since that attack on herself and then Kastiel. Kastiel... She had not seen the beta in some time, and she longed for some company as of late. In fact, she had not seen many of the others about. Torio, Duchess, Castien... It had been a long time, at least to her, since she was last in contact with anyone except her meals for the day. Her pace slowed significantly as she wondered where they all were, yearning to spend some time with one of them.

Spirit's ears twitched when she heard her name and her head lifted high. Slowly, a small smile stretched across her face. If she wanted to see anyone, it would have to be the Beta. She liked the male greatly, and considered him one of the people closest to her. She did not know much about him in general, but she trusted him, just as she trusted Torio. She trusted no one else as she trusted them. Kastiel... She said no more to herself and aimed in the direction his call had come from. She picked up her pace to a gentle lope, moving through the forest with ease. The snow stung at her pads, unused to the sudden cold against them, and it wasn't long before she had the Beta in her sights. She slowed herself down and practically limped to his side. Her panting announced her presence there, so she felt no need to speak for a moment.

"Kastiel, my friend. How are you? Why did you call us? Is something wrong?" Spirit inquired worriedly, concerned for her dear friend. She attempted to lick his shoulder once, softly, then pulled away to try and meet his gaze.

He waited for a reply, and when none was fore coming he lowered his mussel and looked at the barren landscape. Sometimes the snow could seem wondrous, a luxury of golden colour in the soft sun. Today it looked so empty, without life like a place of dying. There was so little here without the grass that stretched for miles, teeming with life so great he could barely imagine. Now there was this muddy sea of white. Ruined by the eventual passing’s of many like snow had not fallen for quite some time and the one of the moment was growing old and worn across its place. Maybe his mind told him this only in its sadness, it was so empty because he shared it only with himself, and not those that were close to him. He need not have been so despairing however, a fact soon clear to him as the panting of Spirit reached his ears, and he saw her moving across the snow. His chest exploded into beats, painfully in his chest as she reached him, and he saw the dullness in her eyes, the strength of which she moved impaired. His dear friend, well her wounds where healing they had cost her much and he felt terrible for not being able to do what once she had done for him. Her voice spoke out in worry, compassion, ensuring that he was alright. Her tongue rasped across his shoulder before she looked into his eyes, and he felt his heart miss a beat, before continuing its drum inside his chest. “Spirit, it’s been too long since I saw you last, you and Toiro both. I simply wanted to hear from you again, and spend this day with you” He assured her, letting her know that there was nothing wrong. He turned his gaze then to her wound, and inspected it with worried eyes. It seemed to be healing now, but he never should have let it get infected in the first place. In part it was his own fault, that day they had both been injured she had cared for him and cleaned out his wound. He had been dizzy with blood lost and enveloped in emotion, he had been too stupid to take a moment and check over her own wounds, he had not done his job right as Beta of this pack and now one of their members was in bad shape, and in winter as well... he would not make the same mistake twice.

The throbbing in her shoulder was a mere second thought now, something she paid practically no mind to at all. Now that the male she cared so deeply for was in front of her, all other pervading thoughts seemed to evaporate from her mind like water from the surface of grass on a hot day. Not even the snow piled around her feet bothered her, even though her pads were becoming numb with the continuous cold of their lands. She loved the snow, for she was built for such things, and she wanted to play in it every so often. She needed a day off and perhaps today would be that day, but she would need to confer with her friend to be sure of such things.

Spirit was relieved that there was nothing amiss as to why he called out to them this fine day, and she let out a sigh. "That's good. I was concerned for a moment." This was true, considering that she would do anything for the male in front of her, not to mention Torio as well. Her species was territorial and easily provoked, leaving her to be concerned about every little thing that could be crossing over onto these lands and posing a threat to the things she loved so dearly. She would die for any of her packmates or friends, as well as allies of the pack, even though she was tentative of such things. She trusted her leader, though, and the decisions he made.

"Well, Kastiel, I am here. Don't worry." She nuzzled the side of his neck gently, drinking in his scent with the lung capacity that she held. "I'm all yours." He had her full attention and she would willingly give him her day, especially if that meant getting to spend some one on one time with him. She valued the male more than anything else in this world and she had come to find a fantastic friend within him. She appreciated his presence in more ways than one and she was certain that she loved him more than anyone else in these lands.

However, she had come to feel lately that the love of a friend wasn't what she felt anymore. Every time she thought of him, heard his name even, she felt as though she would melt where she was standing. The Tundra fae was smart and had been through those same emotions before. She feared them to a great extent, but knew that Kastiel would never harm her in any way. She was on the verge of letting loose with those emotions and entrusting herself with him. She knew she could, but she feared it anyways. She was indecisive.

Spirit watched him check over her wounds worriedly. "I appreciate your concern, but it has healed. For the most part at least." It hurt still, sure, but it was still healing. She knew that much about it, that it hurt to recover from such things. Healing was a painful process most days and that was unstoppable, but she was managing. She had been able to hunt smaller things for herself the last few days, even though she still took things from the food pile just to keep going. Her patrols were slowly paced, but she managed to get across the borders and remark them every day.

"What exactly do you wish to do?"
