Kiddo was steaming from the "deal" that he had just made with the bear-wolf. Should've just fought for the pool. The wolf and the bird wouldn't have been too hard to beat. Now I've lost part of my lands. The large alpha was growling as he walked through his forest. He was jogging and weaving in and out of the trees. It was beautiful here but, he was too upset to enjoy it. He wished Femme was here to calm him down but, she had been no where to be seen. Perhaps the black female had the same affect. He assumed that she was following him but, she may have taken off somewhere else in the territory or she could have left the land. He hadn't had any idea where Femme had gone. He shrugged it off. If she didn't want to be around then he didn't care. he would not allow himself to become attached to anyone.
He decided to lay down by a big enough tree that he could lean against without bending. He scratched his back as he tried to relax himself. He stretched and yawned. His eyes were still filled with anger and frustration but, at least his body was more relaxed. Kiddo's stomach growled. It had been a few days since he had eaten and it was time for a hunt. He sat up straight as he laid his head back to release his bass song from his lips. He was calling the black female and Femme to a hunt with him. This wasn't an open call to all loners. If they wished to join his pack then, they must make their own calls and he would take care of them later. Now, it was time for the pack to be tested as a team. He needed his pack to be like a well oiled machine in order to be successful and the only true test of cooperation is a hunt. He would of course lead the first hunt but, if either wolf was exceptionally talented he would make them lead huntress. He of course couldn't continue to take care of all the jobs by himself. His subordinates would need to earn their ranks quickly. Kiddo was not the kind to leave adults in the subordinate position for too long while positions were available. As far as he was concerned, as of now, they were both just free-loading off of him and that was going to change. They were going to earn their spot in the pack.
Vada's ears swiveled as Kiddo's deep song played in the silent air. Her ear had stopped bleeding from the hawk's attack on her, but the blood still remained stained where it had drained between her eyes and down her muzzle. Unfazed by the blood, she lifted her maw and exhaled a beautiful melody into the air. It was a powerful howl but maintained the feminine elegance she had in her gait and posture. "I'll prove to him that I want to be his family..." Vada smiled ending her song, and trotting off into the direction of the ivory male.
Spotting him only a few meters ahead she approached him respectfully with her tail at a low casual state. Her long slender legs moved gracefully as she glided over to Kiddo. Her honey like orbs glinted over him before stopping a four feet or so from his presence. "Good day Brute..." She addressed him calmly, her eyes glinting lightly in the tantalizing way they always possesed. She had already shown that she was willing to help defend with this male, and she wanted his trust... with every ounce of her being.
His attention turned to the black female as she approached. Her gait was elegant and graceful just like her stance. The blood had stopped pouring from her ear from the bird's attack and his own blood had ceased from the wolf-bear's attack on his shoulder. His concern about a limp was unnecessary. The only thing that remained from his attack was the blood that stained his ivory coat. The blood would need to come out of it before the bugs got to it and infected what was left of the wound. It was not a deep cut but, it was enough to keep an eye on.
His body language was kept in a dominant state to show that he was still in charge but, he didn't think that over powering her and making her lay on her back was really needed. She had already shown that she was loyal and respectful to him when they were arguing with the black male over the pool which, he did keep some of. He laughed a bit on the inside when she greeted him. He didn't care that she called him "Brute" because to him it was a complement. "Brute" meant large and powerful and masculine and he was all three of those things. But, he would still need her actual name because he wasn't going to go around calling all of his members by vague terms. Good day. I will need your actual name so I don't have to call you by a vague term. He felt that he didn't need to explain himself to her but, that it was polite to do so. She was part of his family now so, she deserved at least that much.
His voice was low and rustic sounding with a rasp that could be recognized in a crowd. Some found it repulsive while others found it irresistible. Kiddo, was indifferent about it. It wasn't a good thing and it wasn't a bad thing it just was. He had gotten it randomly when he was younger and thought it was a head cold but, it never went away. Just one more thing he thought to himself. The gods had taken away part of his tail and part of his voice but, they had given him his strength and power. Can't have everything he told himself even though he wished it wasn't true. He wanted everything. He wanted it all. He already had the land and a start of a pack but, he wasn't done yet. He wanted to expand and grow bigger. He wanted the biggest and the best pack on the island. He wanted other to quiver in front of his members just because they belonged to Amar.
He was brought away from his thoughts and back to the wolf standing in front of him. We will need to hunt. There are only two of us so, we will need to find the smallest and the weakest female or calf that we can find. Once we find it, I want you to be the first to run up to it and try to take it down. Yes, he was throwing her into the lions' den with this one but, he needed to see how well she could hunt and the only way to do that was to not baby her and throw her right in. He wanted to make sure that she could keep her eye on one kill even though there would be many others running around her and he needed to make sure that she wouldn't have a problem latching onto a kill and being the first to bring it down. She would be leading but, he would be directing. After you are on the kill I will help you bring it down and we will feast. He of course would not be sitting in the background and doing nothing, he would be making sure the kill didn't get to far away and that if she indeed failed this test that the kill was still brought down so that they would not go hungry. But, he wanted to make this her hunt so that she could show him her place in the pack. Her loyalty had gotten her in but, her skill would help her stay.
Vada dipped her head in acknowledgment to the ivory male." I'm Vada, and if I may ask your name?"She looked over him with her tantalizing honey orbs, her casual body language remained the same as she felt at ease around him. Her black mane played in the light breeze as she stood before him, her height just under his. Either way she wanted to be his equal, for now she would accept her lower status but she in her nature she desired him... to have a place beside him in the future.
Pushing away her distant hopes, Vada's eyes fell to his wounded shoulder. The blood was nearly dried but clearly needed to cleaned. A sudden strange feeling occur ed over her as a nurturing sense over took her body. Such a foreign feeling to her, Vada shyly stepped closer to the brute slowly. She wondered why she was feeling so caring towards a stranger, but something was telling her to help him. Maybe it was the fact that she had never been helped in her life with anything and that with this male's acceptance of her to give her a new life she wanted to return the favor...
Slowly her maw lowered to his shoulder and she lapped gently at the wound, cleansing it. Vada's body was close beside him as she cleaned the blood from his ivory pelt. This was definitely a new concept to her, though it almost came naturally to aid this brute. Finishing removing the blood from his pelt Vada looked back up at the male, as she remained by his side. "I'm ready for anything." She gave a light smile before giving a confident exhale. Her tail wagged lightly as her adrenaline rose with the thought of a hunt... It was time to prove herself and she was prepared.
The black female who was apparently named Vada dipped her head in respect to him and then asked for his name. He thought this was very odd because he had already given it to her before the wolf-bear and the bird showed up but, maybe she forgot. You may call me Kiddo. He could have been friendlier but, he was hungry and ready to eat. He was never in a good mood while he was hungry.
Vada was slightly smaller than he which was a good thing and a bad thing all in one. It meant that her fighting abilities would be excellent much like his but, her hunting could be compromised like his was as well. Her legs were longer though so it might help and she had all of her tail. They would see.
Kiddo was a bit surprised when Vada moved closer to him. He felt a warm wet tongue on his shoulder. He flinched unconsciously from the pain that he felt from her touch. His wound stung him but, he hadn't expected her to cleanse it for him. It was a very kind act that was not part of her duties in his mind so, she had earned a thank-you. After she had finished cleaning the blood from his cream coat he spoke to her. Thank you Vada. He was never one for lengthy thank-yous or apologies. He figured as long as the point was across then he need not say more.
Her words told him that she was ready for the hunt and anything else he was going to throw at her. We will see about that. He thought to himself. He wasn't trying to be an ass, he just was. He wanted to see how far she would actually go and how far he could push her before she reached her breaking point. It was an awful test but, one that he felt had to be done. Alright then. Let's get this hunt going. He looked at her and saw that her tail was wagging slightly and she was rather excited. Kiddo lifted his muzzle into the air and took a deep breath through his nose to see if he could find any deer or any other source of food. He smelled a small group of deer that was not too far from where they were standing. It wasn't a long walk but, it was a walk. He started trotting in that direction, careful not to make much noise.
((I was thinking that we just keep it in this thread since the deer aren't too far away))
