The stench of a pack filled the small male's nostrils. He scrunched his nose for a split second. The Iranian was not used to the smell of a pack. It was a smell he had not smelled in years. From what he could infer, this pack was not a large one. The alpha's scent smelled..female? He thought it was a bit odd having a female pack leader without a male. Perhaps her male had died at some point. Yes, that must be it. It was not that Scout was a sexist pig it was just that he had never seen a female alpha without a male before. In his three years, it had always been either a male by himself or, a male and a female. It would be interesting to see a lone female alpha.
Somehow, the small male had gotten in front of the little white puff. He was not ahead by much, only a few strides. He assumed this was where she lived. He had not crossed the boarder more than three jogging strides. Scout had sat his butt on the ground and let out a song for the alphess to know that he was there. His tenor note filled the air. If he had been born human, it probably would have had a bit of a country twang to it. It did sound a bit country- country for wolves anyway. He didn't have the nice proper howl that pack wolves had. He possessed a loner howl. He didn't use his song much so the note surprised him a little. He expected it to sound much worse. Despite the higher pitch and the loner twang, it didn't sound half bad in his mind. When his song stopped he turned to see how far the puppy had gotten behind.

So much running, so much being on her paws today. Her paws ached and throbbed, she couldn't remember a single day where she had been up and about to much and so far.. She found herself day-dreaming of her nice, cozy spot next her momma. She could use a nap.. Yawnnn.. She stepped over the border to her home, she wasn't sure how Stowt knew where her home was, then she remembered he was psychic. Duhh. She picked up her speed to catch up to him just as he planted himself to the ground and called out for the alphess. That meant her momma would be here soon! She wagged her tail, she missed her so much! She lifted her maw and mimicked Stowt's howl, a song that was unfamiliar on her lips. Because she had always lived in a pack, she never had to announce herself. She looked at Stowt with a proud grin at her achievement.
"Do you think she'll get here soon? Do you think my momma missed me? Do you she'll be mad? Do you think gray-grandpa missed me?" So many questions, so little time? How long would it really take for Momma to get here? She wanted to run to the dens and find her. But she couldn't leave Stowt here, and she didn't know how the rest of the pack would react to a stranger coming in.. They were weird like that. Sometimes Sariya thought they could be a bit more friendly to new wolves.. She wondered if her momma was on her way now, or if she heard Stowt's call. Or if she heard her call. Would she recognize her howl? She slid underneath Stowt's front legs and laid down to rest. It felt nice to just relax... Now it was time to wait.

Sariya looked a bit tired and he couldn't blame her for that. It had been a long day for the both of them. Scout, was indeed a very lazy wolf and all he wanted to do right now was lay down on the ground, go to sleep, and never wake up again. Well, at least eh wouldn't have to move until whoever the Alphess was got here. He figured that she would chase him out of here so fast that he wouldn't even get to utter his name to her. He didn't know much about females and their pups but, he knew if his daughter was hanging around with an older male wolf that he would not be happy. Of course, he figured that he would never have a chance to have pups because of the way that he was built and the way his personality was. Females wanted big males who were strong, intelligent, fast, cunning, and most of all handsome. In his mind he was none of those things. He was small, spindly, lazy, pup like, and he had self-image problems. He rarely shared his self problems with others because he knew that others didn't care. They were all wrapped up in their own problems. He wouldn't add to their load with his silly problems.
The "teenage" white wolf let out a howl as well. It was small, weak, and cute as can be. He wondered if she howled much. He didn't think so because she was a part of a pack. They rarely had to introduce themselves. She was wagging her tail and looked at him with achievement. The small male smiled back at her with his crooked smile.Good job Sariya. His voice was reassuring and encouraging. No one had ever encouraged his development. His mother and father just gave up on him after they realized how lazy and laid back he was. He was not worth their time.
She asked him several questions all at once. She was so funny and cute.Well, I hope she gets here soon and yes I think that she missed you terribly. He thought a moment about her next question.I dont think she will be too mad at you. I think she is going to be more worried about you than mad. He knew that if anything her mother would be mad at him. If the alphess told her mother about him then, he would have a crazed mother after him. Lovely. Wait a minute...aren't alpha females the only ones allowed to breed? He asked himself. He didn't know a lot about packs because he had left his at an early age but, he was pretty sure about only alpha females breeding.Crap.. Well, this will be interesting. He wondered how her mother, the alphess, was going to respond to him. Hopefully just a quick "get away from the child and get off of my land." He would prefer that over having his throat torn out. He liked having him throat intact, he used it for eating.
Sariya slid under his front legs, probably to rest for a bit. He wished he could lay down but, if he did he would crush her. Not a good idea. He smiled at her and reached his nose down to touch her cheek. He wanted to let her know that her being there was okay with him even though she probably wouldn't care if it was or not. She was a princess.

After a long period of absence, Akihra was delighted to hear the sounds of her daughter's how permeate the air of Kamari. It had been nerve wrecking for her to be away from her daughter; even though she was eight months old and nearing full grown, she still fretted about being away from her only daughter. Ever since Ryker's disappearance, she had been concerned about Sariya growing up without her father.
However, the howl of her daughter was not alone. As the alphess approached the lanky "teenage" wolf, she noticed a desert wolf alongside her daughter. It was not often that desert breeds ventured here. While they could tolerate Kamari's mild weather, it was still not necessarily to their liking, and so they tended to dwell south in the Occasus rather than here. Sariya did not seem overly concerned with his presence, but Akihra had to fight her motherly urges to step in between her daughter and this other wolf. They were not too different in size, but it was in her nature to over-shelter her daughter.
"Sariya, I was starting to worry that you weren't coming back," she chided the youngster, a stern look on her face. The eastern timber femme herself was starting to grow into her middle-aged years, and it would not be long before she would have to settle down with another mate. The star-struck love of two young wolves did not last long, and it was not in her benefit to continue leading the pack as a lone female. She was likely to get uprooted without the support of a brute, and Zethrox was not worth much to back her up. With his years, and the fact that he had suddenly vanished from his homelands, she was feeling weary because of her duty without any assistance. "Who is your friend?"
Turning to the iranian brute, she dipped her head in greeting. "I am Akihra, alphess of the Haishin Pack. Thank you for seeing to it that my daughter has returned here safely," she greeted the brute, a soft smile on her face but her body still exhibiting her dominance in these lands. Just because she was pleased with Sariya's return did not mean that she did not still have a part to play. This was all a game of life, and she would not get anywhere if she did not play to win.
((OOC: Sariya is nearly full-grown now, so she isn't exactly little XD))
It didn't take long until she heard movement in the distance, she removed herself from the shelter of Scout and picked herself up, breathing in the scent of her mother. Her tail wagged in happiness, and picked up speed when she saw the dark figure that was Alphess Akhira. She ran up to her, pressing her nose to the alphess's cheek and licking her lovingly, oh how she had missed her! 'Sariya, I was starting to worry that you weren't coming back.' She flattened her ears to her head, so her mother was worried about her. She suddenly felt bad for taking off the way she did. "I'm sorry I worried you, Momma.. Of course I was coming back! I only wandered off too far, I had trouble finding my way back." She looked up at the older fae, Sariya's tail between her legs and her head low.
Despite her shame, it felt good to be home, it felt right. This was were she belonged, after all. This is where she had been born. She wanted to ask her mother about the pack and if she had missed anything in her absence, but there were current matters at hand. She suddenly remembered she hadn't introduced Scout properly and ran back over to his side. "Right! Mother, this is my friend Scout. He is the reason I am home, he helped me find my way back." She flashed a thankful smile to her friend, then looked over to her mother, and opened her mouth to introduce her to Scout.
But, before Sariya could get a word in, Akhira went into her 'alphess-rant,' as Sariya called it. Establishing her dominance in Kamari, which was understandable, but made Sari want to laugh. It was funny to see her mother that way, and weird to imagine herself doing that. She wanted to tell her mother to knock it off, that she didn't have to be so formal. Adults were so weird sometimes. But, she kept her mouth shut while she thanked Scout for returning her home safely, and she nodded in agreement. "You'll stay at least for a few days, won't you Scout?" She switched hr gaze suddenly to her mother, "He can stay right Momma?" Her silver eyes pleading for her mother to say yes, to let her closest friend stay with them. Count --> 416 w. It was not long until the smell of an alphess became strong in his nose. He mentally prepared himself for a beating. He had only met one or two alphas in his life other than his parents and he knew how brutal they could be. He had witnessed many deaths at the paws of his father and mother. It was odd thinking about them again. Those wolves were nothing like what he wanted to be. They were rude, ruthless, cruel, heartless and self-centered. Not many things made the small wolf angry but, thinking about his so-called parents brought him close.
The whether here was not entirely to his liking. It was a bit chilly but, nothing that he couldn't handle. When the alphess arrived, Scout immediately lowered his head and showed his submission. When Sariya removed herself from under him, he sat down. He wanted no fight with the much larger female. She was the dominant one here and he was fine with that. Although, being so submissive made him feel a bit feminine. He hated that about himself. He had never been able to stand up for himself and that was one of his biggest regrets. He wished he could just stand up and yell at certain times but, could never find the nerve to do so. Many wolves told him that he was "nice" or "sweet" or other non-masculine things like that. They were not horrible things to be in his mind in the least bit but, he wishes that he was something more than the nice guy that everyone tramples over.
He had not heard much of what Sariya said to her mother but, he got the jest of what she had said. The white teenager had looked ashamed. It was an emotion that he could sympathize with but, it didn't look like it was bothering her too much because she had quickly introduced him and told her mother that he had helped her home. He appreciated the acknowledgement and smiled back at her like they had been friends for life times. The alphess introduced herself as Akihra and that she was the alphess of the pack that lived here. He wanted to tell her "duhhh i could smell that" but, he kept quiet. Sariya was right, Akihra was a very pretty female but, she didn't seem like the type to want someone like him. If she had not been the alphess of a pack, he would be trying his charm out on her but, she was and he liked having his throat intact. It's a pleasure to meet you Alphess Akihra. He bowed his head in respect to her. He was not used to how wolves were supposed to address alphas because he had not been in a pack for so long although, he was sure that he was formal enough.
He smiled at Sariya again. It was so cute how she wanted him to stay. Not in a crush cute way but in a childish way. Sariya may be a teenager but, he was a three year old adult and to him, she was still a child. Only if it's okay with your mother he told her and then looked back at Akihra. He assumed that she wouldn't want a loner just hanging around in her land but hey, he had brought her daughter home safely. Maybe she would be more gracious.

While her instincts screamed at her that allowing any brute to be around her little girl was a bad idea, this "Scout" fellow hadn't done any disservice to her pack. In fact, Akihra was lucky that the brute had led her daughter back to her. The least she could do was offer him refuge for a short time, if he so chose.
"It would be best to stay within the pack's lands, Sariya," she chided the young femme once more. "You know I don't like when you wander, especially outside of Kamari. You are lucky that you were not injured, and particularly that you ran into another wolf that was not aggressive." Her stern eye fell on Sariya, not having to explain any further the trouble she could have found herself in. The free lands, and some of the other pack lands, were dangerous areas to wander. The free lands were riddled with undesirable wolves, and she had already seen the result of the cruelty of their neighbors. Descai was going to be a pack to keep an eye on, particularly when the alpha sentenced an innocent femme to death.
"Scout, why are you a lone wolf? Is it not concerning to you to wander without a pack?" the femme inquired with sincere honesty. She was not in a position to cruelty treat the wolf that had protected her daughter. Indeed, if he were such an upstanding soul, why was he wandering on his own? Packs were in need of wolves with good character; they were becoming fewer and even further between. Akihra had learned this quickly in her time as alpha. There were many wolves on the continent, but most of the nastier variety had found their way through Kamari at one point or another. She knew the pack's history, and she was trying to forge a new beginning for Haishin.
((OOC: Not going to lie, my muse just went down the toilet halfway through this post.))
She felt the wave of shame again from her mother's words. How could she have been so stupid as to venture so far from her home? Her mother was right, as usual. She could have been drastically injured or even killed. It dawned on her how lucky she had been to run into Scout like she had. If she had run into a more bloodthirsty wolf, she may not be standing here right now. The thought sent a shiver up her spine. "I know, momma.. I said I was sorry. But, look! Everything turned out for the better, right?" She offered her mother an innocent grin. She was okay, that's what mattered, right?
Sariya was so proud of Scout's behavior, he was being so respectful and so brave. She knew, of course, he had been in a pack at one point in time, but she also knew, even if he did not specifically tell her, that he was no longer part of a pack and he had not been for a while. She knew what a pack wolf looked like, and his physique did not scream 'pack wolf.' As much as she adored Scout she could admit that he could be taken better care of if he had he support of a pack. She read into his reaction and saw that he was slightly uncomfortable with the thought of staying with the pack, even just for a few days. "Oh come on, Scout," she nudged the small brute playfully. "You know you don't want to leave me yet. You haven't had enough of me already, have you?" She turned to her mother with pleading eyes, she knew she had no reason to say no to her rescuer. But, her mother would not agree right away. Why did she always have to make this so complicated?
The little heiress let out a quiet sigh and sat her rump on the ground. Knowing her mother, this could take a while. She was beginning to interrogate poor Scout. She felt bad for him. He didn't ask to be brought before the alphess of a pack. He was just a loner, minding his own until a lost princess stumbled upon and ruined his life. She dragged him into this, she wished she could take the rep for this, but this was a step her had to complete by himself: getting past Akhira the Dictator. Count --> 399 w. Muse --> Pretty good. Scout had to agree with Akihra's words to her daughter. Being alone in the free lands was dangerous for any wolf, especially a wolf of high ranking in a pack. He had heard of the pack that lived here. Haishin was known for being less brutal and kinder than the other packs in the area. He was lucky that the princess was from here other than a more violent pack like Descai. Even though, he was a loner, he still kept tabs on what packs were doing what. He wasn't completely obsessed with what was going on with them but, when another loner had a few words to say about them, he listened. What else was he supposed to do with his countless hours of solitude?
Scout felt a bit self-conscious about his current condition. Here he was, standing in front of two well fed, well groomed, well mannered females of high rank with him being skinny and having his pelt look dull and on top of that, he had almost no idea what to say or do. When he had been a part of his pack, if a loner would have come onto their lands (with or without a princess) they would have been wasted where they stood.
Akihra told Sariya that she was lucky to have come across a non-aggressive male. He wasn't sure how to respond to this statement. Obviously it was about him but, it was not meant for him. He decided to stay quiet, assuming that this was just how alphas and alphesses behaved. He didn't know many high ranking wolves so he thought that it was normal to talk about another wolf while said wolf was sitting right in front of them in pack culture. If he had known that Sariya was a princess, he probably would have brought her back here much sooner even though he really liked the teenager. He considered the two as friends. But, Akihra was right with her comment about Sariya needing to stay in the pack territory. Bad things can happen to young princesses and he was glad that he had come across her instead of another wolf. On the other hand, he did not agree with being stern with young wolves but, he was not her parent so, he didn't have much say in how Akihra should parent her. Sariya looked like she was ashamed of her actions but, she tried to make the situation look better than it actually was. It was something he would have done. He smiled a bit at how similar the two wolves actually were.
Akihra's attention turned to him. Her question sounded a bit blunt to him but, it was a reasonable question to ask. He thought about his answer to her question which was actually quite deep. Why was he a lone wolf? He didn't really like to be alone but, he didn't really want to be told what to do again and to be a robot or a slave. Her question was sincere and he truly wanted to give her the best answer that he could but, he didn't really want to discuss his horrible "pack past" with strangers let alone in front of a princess. Also, he didn't really know the answer. He was trying to word his answer well. To be totally honest alphess, most of the packs and their alphas that I have come across don't share the same morals as I do and I couldn't see myself living under the morals that most packs are based upon. Other than yours of course. I've heard very nice things about your pack. He wasn't trying to brown-nose Akihra but, he didn't want to categorize her pack as a ruthless blood-sucking cult because she was obviously a very respectable wolf. He glanced at himself for a second when she asked him about living alone and then he looked back at her. Well, when I made the decision to live by myself I figured that I could out run just about anything that wanted to eat me or, that i would be so skinny that nothing would want to eat me. He chuckled, trying to lighten the mood a little bit. There was no hiding that he was a very fast wolf but, also no hiding that he was a bit on the skinny side. Other than his meal with Tolko, his meals consisted of one or two rabbits a day at most. Sometimes he went two or three days without eating but, he would never tell Sariya or Akihra. He didn't want their charity. He could take care of himself if nothing else. A pack would not be a bad thing but, he would not take free food from a pack or anything else from them.
Sariya then talked to him. Her words made him smile. Of course not princess. I could never be sick of you. He smiled his crooked smile at her, not wanting her to feel bad about anything. Just because he felt bad about himself didn't mean that others had to as well and he knew that if he told her that he was sick of her, which he was not, then it would have broken her little heart. While Sariya looked at her mom, he didn't see it fit to stare at the alphess pleading her to let him say so, he just kind of looked at nothing. Trying not to look at one particular thing for too long. It was obvious that he had not been in a pack for a long, long time. One could tell just by this action alone. A normal pack wolf would have known what to do in a situation like this instead of looking around like an idiot like he was doing. He messed up again. That was something that he was doing a lot recently and it was starting to bug him. He wasn't really good at much. He was a shaman but, he had never been compared to another one so, he didn't know exactly how good he was at that and he had only ever healed one wolf. Her name was....Vaniel?
Oh he needed to figure something out for his life because right now it was going no where fast.

The friendship that had been forged between the alphess's daughter and this loner was unmistakeable. Akihra was not going to be the overbearing mother and force Scout to leave; however, he seemed somewhat hesitant to give in to Sariya's begging for him to remain. With a soft smile, she decided to offer him to stay for a while; after all, what harm could it do?
"Scout, you are free to remain here if you would like. After all, you seem to be the reason my daughter has returned home safely," she offered, a gentle grin headed in his direction. Akihra was antsy though; she had other places she needed to be, and she did not want to seem rude by simply running out on the pair. "Sariya, I want you to stay within the borders for a while. Scout, you are not obligated to leave or stay; I will not force your paws in any way. However, you have my permission to remain in Kamari for now if you so choose."
Glancing past the two, the alphess's gaze leaned toward the neighboring pack. Akihra needed to have a nice chat with Vorilye, and now seemed to be a plenty good time to do so. Scanning back to the brute and her daughter, she spoke. "I have some business I need to attend to outside of our borders. I will return shortly. Scout, I do not know you well, but I trust my daughter's care to you. In fact, if you would so desire, we are in need of a hunt. Perhaps you could show Sariya a thing or two? We have hunted before, but she needs to work on some of her basics."
Obviously Sariya trusted this wolf; Akihra would do her best to trust her daughter's judgment. "I will be back shortly. I hope to find you both safe and in one piece when I get back," she said pointedly, looking at Sariya once more. With that, the alphess padded away, fighting the urge to scoop her daughter up and hide her away. There was work to be done though, and this needed to be handled soon.
