Kallik lay in the grass, panting, gasping for breath. Her claws scored deep marks in the soft ground, as the pups passed through her body. She was used to pain; it was no stranger to her, physical or emotional. Vorilye had hurt her emotionally, while many others had hurt her physically. Yet this, this was something entirely different. This was a deep ache, a throbbing pain, something that she had never ever felt before in her life. Kallik whimpered, moaned, howled, groaned in agony. She had never given birth before; she had no idea what to do. She was alone; Akihra had left her without a word. Akihra had not taught her how to hunt or how to live. And now she was giving birth completely alone.
Kallik cried out again, tears rolling down her face as she pushed with all her might, still scoring her deep marks in the ground. Another howl sounded from her maw and she gasped as a pup came from her. It was wet, slick, and slightly sticky. The placenta was covering it. Instinctively, Kallik took the placenta in her mouth and disposed of it the only way she could – by eating it. The pup wriggled and squirmed, already reaching for her teats that were heavy with milk. She had gained a few pounds, forcing herself to catch food and eat it. She had to survive, she just had to. She did not want her pups to die.
A few moments later, she felt the sensation to push again, and another pup came forward. She removed the placenta and placed it next to its’ sibling. A fresh wave of pain came over the Mackenzie Valley female and she wailed as two pups were born together; twins. Kallik, bloody and in pain, tired out from giving birth, could hardly make a noise as the fifth pup was born. The last one came late, and was stillborn. She cried, seeing the still little thing, and wishing it could have had life.
The emerald-eyed fae stood and carried each pup to a nearby hollow, that was clear of blood and the other filth from birth. She lay down, curling her body around them, wondering what she was going to do…
Avonlea had just gotten away from that horrible situation with the loner that had trespassed into Haishin territory. She hoped that Akihra wouldn't find out about it and punish her. She shivered as she thought about it. The red wolf had just been walking along when she had heard someone in pain. She couldn't tell who it was but, they sounded in immense pain. Avonlea picked up speed and ran to the noise only to fin Kallik laying in the grass. What was happening to her? What was she doing? Was this a trap to get her to go near her? Avonlea had not idea. Kallik looked as though her pain was real but, Avonlea was no fool.
She had watched at a distance when Kallik was seemingly crying. She was groaning and moaning when she had cried out in pain again. Avonlea crept forward with her ears lain back in caution. Kallik was scaring the ground with her claws. Avonlea went no further. She didn't want those claws in her. The red wolf was 75 feet away maybe 50. Kallik let out another howl and then something came out of her. It was a....PUPPY!? Kallik was pregnant? She hadn't looked pregnant. Well, there was no faking that. Kallik was actually in pain and the voice had not spoken to her yet to warn her about anything. Then, Kallik ate something that was covering it which allowed the puppy to breathe. Avonlea continued to watch as she pushed out four more puppies. Two of them were identical. There was one puppy that did not show signs of life. Avonlea had no idea what to do to help Kallik or her puppies. She knew how protective mothers could be so, she would not overstep her boundaries with her. Even though, they were the same rank. Kallik cried again and then moved each puppy to where it was clean.
Avonlea walked closer to her with caution. Kallik? My name is Avonlea. We met when you first joined the pack. She knew that she had never introduce herself to her yet so she thought it would a be a good idea to do that before anything else. Do you need something? Her voice was concerned for her puppies but, also cautious of them and their mother. They were kin of the wolf that wanted to kill her. They could grow up to be murderers just like their mother but, since they were born to Haishin maybe they would be better. Maybe Kallik was just like her. Maybe Kallik wanted help or to change. There was nothing wrong with that and she needed help. tinypic.com/9a3150.png
Kallik heard Avonlea coming, and immediately went into the defensive. She let loose a feral snarl, curling her body protectively around her pups. Went she scented Avonlea, however, she relaxed somewhat. They were on the same side. Still, Kallik was wary. She whimpered in fear for her pups’ safety and growled, ”Come no closer.” She knew that Avonlea wasn’t going to hurt them, but she also knew that one misspoken word could lead to a fight, which could result in her pups deaths. Kallik nuzzled each pup, noting how much each of them looked like Vorilye and herself. Two of the pups were his clones – the twins, she noticed. Looking down upon the balls of fur that were her children, Kallik began to weep again. She had fallen for Vorilye too quickly, had not established a good enough relationship with him…
The twins caused Kallik a deep pain in her heart, and while she licked them gently and lovingly, a piece of her would always come to hate the two who resembled their father so much. At her teats, the pups were whining and whimpering, most likely hungry as well as cold. The Mackenzie Valley female wrapped herself around them, covering their backs with her thick, fluffy, winter tail. They were sure to be warm now… She turned her head to Avonlea. ”Yes…” she whispered, in response to her question. ”I need Vorilye…please, find him for me…” Kallik pleaded, wondering whether the female would or not. After all, she had fled from him, had she not? But still, she needed to prove that she hadn’t been lying…
Kallik closed her eyes then, worn out from giving birth. She also needed food, but she didn’t want to trouble Avonlea with that. It was important that she speak to Vorilye….her last thoughts were of him, and the stolen moments they’d had together. Whether he felt for her or not hardly mattered to the femme – she still felt the same. With her last thoughts on Vorilye, she fell asleep…
Kallik snarled at her and became very defensive. Oh no, it was a trap. Kallik wanted to eat her. Avonlea froze in her place and debated whether or not to run away with her tail between her legs. She laid her ears down and she laid on the ground to show her that she would not hurt the puppies if that was indeed the problem; although, she didn't think so. Avonlea was certain that Kallik was going to eat her and it would be the end of her existence. Kallik was nuzzling each of the puppies and Avonlea was sure that it was so they were paying attention when she ate her. What a horrible site it would be to see ones mother eat another wolf only minutes after being born. The new mother was licking her pups seemingly with love and affection. Avonlea couldn't tell if it was an act or if it was real. She was so confused right now. The red wolf had no idea of what to think of Kallik at the moment. Was she a killer? Was she really in need of help? Was she just playing games with her? So many questions and not a single answer to any of them. She wished the voice would tell her the truth. It had originally told her that Kallik was going to eat her up and in fact, Kallik herself said that she was going to "get her." It was still strange to Avonlea that Akihra had not defended her to Kallik's threat. But, that was not important at the moment. Right now, the new puppies and Kallik needed help; even though, she might regret it later, she was going to do it anyway. The puppies had done nothing wrong yet and they deserved to live just like everything else.
Kallik asked for "Vorilye." Who's Vorilye? She asked with a bit of curiosity and concern. She had no idea who that wolf was, where to find him or why he was so important. Was he a random loner that had fallen in love with Kallik and gotten her pregnant? Was he her father? Brother? Uncle? Grandfather? Avonlea had no clue. Kallik made it sound urgent with the sound of her voice. She was pleading with her, begging her. Then, Kallik fell asleep with her tail wrapped around her puppies. Avonlea still didn't know whether or not to trust her and she couldn't ask where to find this "Vorilye" because Kallik was now asleep. The red wolf took a deep breath and got up from the ground. She shook off the little things that had stuck to her fur and she went in search of Akihra. Her alphess would know what to do.
(OOC: I don't mind if Akihra and Vor meet here but since Avonlea went off to get Akihra maybe we should play it like Avonlea brought her back and just pretend that there was a thread for it? ))
