After Kiddo had left the ever growing tension between the two faes at the kill, he decided to visit the caves. He assumed that the two females were out and about exploring the land a little more. Heck, that's what he was doing. He had just claimed this land not too long ago and he wanted to see all of it. What kind of leader doesn't even know their own land? Not a very good one. Kiddo had made it a point to have a successful pack and he would do everything that it took to make it as such. The first order of business in order to start that process is to have all members have some kind of rank. Vada had already proved herself as a hunter but, was she good enough to be a lead hunter? That was a hard decision. He hadn't seen Femme hunt yet either. She had said that she had already eaten earlier while they were all at the kill so she must know how to hunt but, how good was she? Vada had brought down a very large buck all by herself. That would be hard to beat. But, in order to be a lead hunter one has to be able to set up hunts as well as hunt with others. He had not yet tested Vada like this. He would have to. There was no other choice. Honestly, he didn't really like all of this testing that was going to need to take place but, it was necessary to find the perfect place for any wolf. He didn't want to put a hunter as a warrior because their skills lay with hunting. He knew that most alphas put wolves in with whatever they needed more of but, that was now how he was running his ship. He found that putting wolves wherever one needed them was a waste of talent and ability.
He would need to see Femme's abilities before deciding where Vada should be placed. He didn't want to make a decision without proper knowledge. Hopefully he would see Femme later today to sort all of this out. He wanted to get the faes in their proper positions as soon as possible because honestly, with neither of them in a rank, they were both a waste of his time. They needed to be contributing to the pack. Right now, as far as he could tell, he was the only one doing that. Vada had just completed her test so in his mind that didn't count as contributing and Femme had just appeared out of nowhere. He had no idea where she had went. Was she checking out the territory more after he had asked her to follow him? He specifically remembered asking her to go hunting with him but, did she follow him? Maybe she didn't and came into the territory after he had claimed it. He knew that she certainly wasn't there while he was dealing with that blasted wolf-bear. He would need to ask her where she had gone, no matter how controlling and condescending it may sound. As her alpha, he had a right to know. Of course, Femme hadn't actually joined yet but, as long as she was in his territory, he was her alpha.
He reached the caverns and he decided to walk into them, to see where they went if anywhere. He needed to make sure he knew every part of this land if he was going to protect it. The caverns were located in the mountains that he had claimed the land on not too long ago. They had been carved over many many years. He had walked in and located several different chambers. It would serve well as a den for his pack but, the only way that it was accessible was by climbing part of the mountain. Pups would have a hard time but, it was going to have to do. This was the only real location that could be used for dens. It had a roof, walls, and chambers. Getting to it would be difficult but, everyone was going to have to deal with that.
It was absolutely crucial that he find these and he had. He had smelled bad whether coming and without somewhere to run to, Vada, Femme, and himself could end up sick and with no shaman, that would be deadly. It had been partly cloudy today but, that doesn't mean it won't be worse later. Kiddo will provide for his pack. Even if that means spending an afternoon searching through caverns.
He had come out of them and started back down the mountain, rather pleased with himself for finding a place for his pack to sleep tonight. He was happy to have that off of his check list but now, it was on to the next thing. He wanted to have both Vada and Femme in their positions by the end of the week which would mean lots of work for him. He had several more tests he wanted to run and then he would need a least a full day to make a decision. He needed to have Femme hunt by herself and then have the two of them hunt together if Femme did well. Then he would need them both to come up with a plan for a hunt and then execute it. But, if Femme were to fail her first test then the rest of the tests would not happen and he would need to find something else for her to do. It was going to be a very busy next few days in Amar. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to do this with every member that joined. He knew that every member would be tested but, he hoped that they wouldn't need to be tested to this extent. But, if that was so, he would do it. He would do whatever was necessary for his pack.
Memories of hide and seek flashed through her mind as she padded across the Oriens following Kiddo's scent. A miniature version of Toklo and Aerandir racing through the trees as she tried to hold back her little puppy giggle. At the moment, the most serious thing in the world was not letting her brother and friend find her most secret hiding spot inside a hollow log, behind a large boulder. She could see them race around trying to figure out where her scent led through a little peek hole of rotted wood. Silly boys.
Silly boys. She never really hung around the female pups, they never wanted to fight. Boys would fight her, but they were stupider than hell. They never did find that hollow log of hers, and before she knew it they had grown out of that game. She sometimes found herself missing the simpler times, but none of that mattered now. You can't change the past and you most definitely can't get it back, not that she really wanted to. She had a future here. Her future back 'home' was not very bright when she stood beside the Shining Child her parents named Toklo.
But, that was a another story for anything time, children. Back to the present, no need to waste her time thinking about the silly boys in her past. Time to focus on the silly boy in her present. He had taken off shortly after she had arrived to find him and bear-fae eating a buck. She had to admit, it looked pretty tasty. But, she had pride to deal with and an image to uphold. She couldn't afford to mooch off of others, she had to take every chance she could to show her strength. Being who she was, many found it hard to believe, but she found it easy to prove. She wasn't afraid of anything.
But, even so he heart began to pound when his scent grew stronger. There was something about this silly boy that caused this symptom in her chest. She hated it, it made her nauseous. And she wanted it to stop more than anything in the world. But, she also felt the need to feel it more and more, more than anything in the world. She was a very conflicted, fae. How endearing... Not.
She caught sight of a light flash of fur on it's way down the mountain and her ears shot up and her eyes brightened. She sped up to a fast trot toward him. What was this brute doing way out here? He made some good time if he was on his way back down the mountain! She almost felt a rush of pride in him, but then began to wonder what she had to feel proud about. She awkwardly pushed that feeling away before she found herself within a short distance from Brute. She offered him a triumphant smile, being able to track him down like she did. "Well, fancy meeting you here, Brute," she woofed in greeting and then added playfully, "Are you stalking me?" She shot him a mock suspicious expression, her orbs still shining. Silly girl. f97912 Count --> 536 w. Muse --> mehhh. it'll get there Tags --> Kiddo Notes --> maybe some sort of animal attack so she can prove her fighting skills? just a thought... could help with deciding her rank. she's a warrior to the core, after all.
Femme's scent had been growing stronger on his descent down the mountain. His lips curled into a small smile when he first smelled her nearing him. It was confusing for him why he behaved this way. Why smile for one but not the other? Was he subconsciously playing favorites? Of course he was pleased when Vada was around but he never smiled when he smelled her. He had met Femme before Vada but that shouldn't mean anything. He didn't even know Femme's name but yet he still behaved this way. This needed to stop. He could not act like this. He needed to be indifferent with his members especially when deciding ranks.
Which wolves were in which ranks was probably if not the most important part of a successful pack. It was absolutely necessary that the pack be dynamic and work together as a team in order for it to work and that could only happen if he placed each wolf according to his or her own skill.
Kiddo hadn't thought about the possibility of adding a male to his pack until now. He wasn't keen on the idea because he only wanted his pups to be in the pack. He would not allow for any other male's pups to live. That rule went for the females too. They were only allowed to mate with him or their pups would die and they could possibly be exiled. Kiddo was very serious about his rules. He believed that they were the only way that the wolves of Amar would live peacefully together with each other and with other packs. He decided he was going to hold a pack meeting soon to clear up all of the rules for Femme and Vada.
When Femme came into site, he saw that she was trotting to him. She must be happy to see me too. Was he happy to see her? Hadn't he just decided that he couldn't do that? He was already breaking his own rules. Her voice teased him and it didn't bother him..for whatever reason. Yes, you are just the wolf I wanted to see. He grinned at her but, that quickly disappeared. Me stalking you? He laughed a little but, that stopped quickly as well. I believe it is you who is stalking me, Femme. Did you not follow me from the kill? He won that. He was right and he knew it. The only thing left to see was her reaction to his comment. He had a feeling she wouldn't like being beaten and come back with some kind of funny comment. But, he was slightly teasing her as well. His voice was rarely this kind and it was usually only Femme who saw it. Weird. He opened his mouth again to speak but, some other smell caught his nose. It was not of a wolf or even of the wolf-bear. He began trotting over closer to the smell to see what it was. It wasn't a food animal and he didn't particularly want it this close to the dens. As the scent became stronger, he recognized it as a bear. A bear being this far away from the pool was odd. Was the agreement not that the bears and the wolf bear stay near the pool or death? He remembered it as such. Oh well, death for the bear. Let it be a lesson for the rest of the bear population here in the Oriens to not mess with him or his pack.
He growled low and his hackles were raised. His razor teeth, which were still covered in blood from the kill, were bared. His eyes full of fiery rage. How dare this bear be this close to the dens! He kept approaching it and he clearly made his presence known. If this bear was smart it would leave now. of course it was a larger bear and much bigger than his 140 pound frame but, he could pack quite the punch when he needed to. This was the second run in with a bear in the last three days. This needed to end. After this bear was dead, he would need to speak with the wolf-bear once again about keeping these filthy beasts where they belonged.
The bear roared and raised itself onto it's hind legs. Kiddo imagined that that was how the bear prepared for a fight. A fight it wanted, a fight it would get.
Kiddo charged forward and leaped onto the bear, face to face. His claws dug into the nasty thing's shoulders and part of his stomach. The bear was enraged with Kiddo and began flailing it's arms around and fortunately, with the bear's lack of range of motion, could only claw his hind legs. The pain surged through Kiddo like a thousand eagle talons. He was glad now that he hadn't fought about the pool.
(ooc: hehehe a new table for kiddo..he magically changed colors with his other one..he's really supposed to be this color.))
She thought she caught glimpse of a smile dancing on the tough brute's maw, how strange for the alpha's character. But, a strange characteristic Oka liked, she liked being able to make him smile. And she was just the wolf he wanted to see. Was that a good thing? Or was he still feeling the harshness he displayed when he first greeted her beside Vada? The thought made her stomach twist. She didn't want Brute mad at her, she wanted him please with her. But, she pushed the guilt away and let her careless side stand out. "I am, am I? See, I knew you missed me." She winked, remembering what she had said to him before. Then she felt a rush of embarrassment at his next words. It was true, she had followed him from the buck, and she looked away from his shyly. Shy. What a foreign feeling for the Appenine.
For a moment she was at a loss for words, she wanted to spit back a witty reply, but it wouldn't shake the truth from his words. He looked as if he was about to say something else, but stopped mid-breath, his eyes alarmed. Oka was about to ask him what was wrong when the scent hit her nostrils, she recognized it right away and her heart skipped a beat. 'Bear.' and then the familiar, "Oka! Run!" But, like before, she would not. Oka stood her ground, her lips curled into a snarl. Kiddo's hackles rose, but she fought to keep hers flat. As the bear came into sight, it was focused on Kiddo's defensive stature, hardly acknowledged Oka. And in this case, was perfect.
She backed away, as though she were going to flee and disappeared into the shadows. She could only imagine how enraged Brute must be at her. But, he would see soon. She moved fast, taking a silent position to the bear's rear. She was sure that it had seen her 'flee' and its mind was aimed at the Amar leader. It had know idea what was coming to him. Now, her hackles raised and silent growl rumbled in her throat as she crept forward. Her ivories bared, ready to latch onto think bear skin, her mouth ready to taste fresh, warm, bear blood.
The bear raised itself onto it's haunches in angry rage, and Oka leaped into motion, plunging toward the massive beast, the back of it's neck her target. She saw Brute on it's front, attacking from the forward position. The bear tried shaking him off and she saw it make contact with Brute's rear and rage filled Oka. How dare he! She made a final jump into the air and landed directly between the bear's shoulders, right on target. She lunged her sharp incisors deep into the back of the bear's neck, her head tilted to the right to get a good, sturdy hold on it. A warm flood of gore filled her jaws and her teeth were bathed in red. She heard the roar of the bear as it reacted to the intense pain and did everything it could to try and reach the source with it's claws.
Oka could not remember when the last time she fought was, but that did not seem to matter, her instincts, her skills, and her lessons seemed to kick in as if it had just been yesterday. Her hind legs kicked madly against the tough bear fur, but she knew she tore through. Her crown shook wildly, tearing the bear's neck muscle, hoping to shred through it, as if trying to tear off a tasty piece of meat off a buck. The bear was now shaking it's whole body, she was not sure what was going on with Brute, she was not sure if he was attacking as well, or was standing off watching. She didn't mind either way. As long as he was safe.
The bear seemed to slow for a moment, perhaps to catch it's breath and she unlatched herself from it's neck and reattached her not-so-pearly-whites to it's ear, feeling the top part rip skin from skin, and flop over. That way, of the bear returned, they would know it was the same one. She flung herself over it's shoulder, and to the ground with a thud. She whipped around, wondering if it would come back at her or flee. "You want some more?" Oka growled through gritted teeth. She could feel the slight weight of blood on her maw and her chest, she could only imagine what she looked like. But, the adrenaline was amazing. She took a moment and swept her surrounding for Brute, was he okay? Count --> 802 w. Muse --> beautifullll. <3 Tags --> Kiddo Notes --> I like it! But the color of the words is a little hard to read..
Kiddo missing her? Perhaps that was the reason for his bizarre behavior. But, how could he miss her? He didn't care, did he? Yes, no, it was very confusing for him. Like an adolescent learning to hunt or becoming an adult. It was all new to Kiddo. Maybe he did care. Maybe she was different, special, important. Maybe she mattered to him.
Femme looked away when it came to his comment about her following him. Was it embarrassment that she was displaying? That's what it seemed like to him and it was certainly not the reaction he was expecting. He felt the need to comfort her. No need to be embarrassed. Though his words weren't the most comforting, his tone was kind. He didn't know why he wanted to comfort her. Why should he care? He didn't know why he should, he just knew that he did..for some reason.
Femme had run from the bear scene. Kiddo was enraged with her. How dare she abandon him! This action just made him more infuriated with her. He wanted to rip her throat out. He had been kind to her and this was how she repays him? He growled to the bear but, it was really meant for Femme. She would hear it from him for sure. After he lunged at the bear though, her plan became clear to him.
Her plan was never to leave him. No, she was smarter than that. Her plan was to make the bear believe she had left, run around the back end of the bear and attack there. There was some joy in his heart. Half of it was that she hadn't left him like he had originally thought and the other half was how smart she was. She had even fooled him. He didn't know if fooling him was a good thing or not. It could get her in trouble but, in this case, he was happy for it. His belief that she had left made the bear believe it too.
Femme latched onto the bear's back and began ripping away at it's neck like it was a piece of choice meat. The bear was thrashing it's body around but, Kiddo was not giving this up. His massive frame was good for a few things and fighting was one of them. His weight and Femme eating him alive, began to wear the bear down. Kiddo could see the pain taking over the bear. Even his own pain was getting a bit much.
He didn't know what Femme was doing when she had released herself from the bear. Femme spoke to the bear. He could hear the adrenaline in her voice. Did she enjoy this? He knew where she would be placed. Obviously this was where her skills lay. Good thing too. He didn't know how well she and Vada would get along as superior and inferior because only one can be lead hunter.
While Femme stood on the ground, Kiddo took one last bite at the bear's throat just to show it how close it was coming to death. He held it for a few seconds and then released it. It felt good to control who lives and dies. He was playing God almost here. He dropped himself to the ground and gave the bear room to leave if it wanted to. He wanted the bear to leave here and go back to the pool and show the wolf-bear and the other bears just how strong the pack was. There were only two wolves on this bear and look how much damage they caused the nasty filthy thing. He growled and smiled at the bear. He enjoyed this as well.
Her heart thudded loudly in her chest, she could her the blood pounding in her ears. Her senses were at their epitome, every movement, every sounds registered; so it did not take her long to catch sight of Brute, hanging on tightly to the front of the bear, probably where he had landed after he attacked. He must have a damn good grip. She felt a wave of relief that he was here, safe, alive. Yes, most of all alive. She examined the bear, pain was stabbing its eyes, blood all over the ground from the wounds Kiddo and herself had caused. She felt a rush of triumph and as Kiddo released his jaws from the bear. They were almost finished now.
The bear roared in pain, then lifted a paw to bat at Brute with the strength of a 400 pound bear. Oka gave a loud, warning woof and flew to Kiddo's side protectively, teeth bared and hackles raised. The bear winced at the pain in its shoulder, then dropped its paw as if remembered where violence had got him only moments before. Oka stared at it, her eyes locking with the bear's, reminding her of her last bear encounter, before the bear made a wise choice and turned away from the wolf pair, limping away, back to wherever it came from. Now, Oka could really feel triumphant! Kiddo and her had successfully fought off a bear! The adrenaline rush was so refreshing! She hadn't felt so alive, so happy, since.. well, she couldn't remember!
When bear was out of sight she started to smile, she was still breathing heavy, but her hackles slowly lowered and she lifted her head. She looked over at Kiddo with the truest smile she had displayed in months. "Not too shabby, Brute." She meant tit as a compliment, in reality he was amazing! Holding onto the bear the way he did, showing that beast who was really in control, and the power! She had never been so attracted to another wolf in her life. She laid her ears flat, and she felt heat under her pelt. What was coming over her? Maybe she was getting sick. Count --> 369 w. Muse --> mehh.. Tags --> Kiddo Notes --> n.a
The bear's roar was loud and booming in Kiddo's ear but, it was no where near frightening. A little noise was not enough to scare this brute away from his dens. The nasty bear lifted it's paw as if it was going to try and attempt to harm him any further. His hind legs were already causing him sharp and pulsating pain and it showed no signs of dulling or even numbing. He bared his teeth and raised his hackles as he prepared himself for another attack but then, Femme came to his side and showed the same actions as he had. She was standing here with him, defending their land together. He wanted to look at her but, his eyes could not leave the bear. He had to make sure that it was either going to leave or it was going to die. But, from Femme's brave and heroic efforts to fight beside him, forced the bear to make a retreat.
Femme then talked to him. Not too shabby, Brute. Her words were sweet to his ears and her compliment made him proud to own this land. It was things such as this that made it worth dealing with bears and finding dens and picking ranks and everything else that came with being an alpha. She appreciated him. Or at least that was how he took it. Not too shabby yourself, Femme. A smile curled on his lips while his raspy rustic tone flowed through them.
Adrenaline from the fight was still flowing through his blood along with excitement of a near death experience. He felt as though he were truly on top of the world. They had just fought off a bear, all by themselves. They were a great pair, the two were. With all the excited thoughts running through his brain and all the pride he felt in Femme, he moved forward and brushed his fur up against hers and he took in her scent. There was something there that was not there the last time he had smelled her like this. It was sweet and captivating. It took over his mind and that smell was all he could think about for those few seconds he took to breathe her in. He wanted to be with that smell all the time, it was the best smell he had ever smelled in his life. He took deep breaths of it inside of his lungs, wanting to stand here forever and never stop smelling the female before him.
His voice sent tremors through her body, and she just wanted to be near him, to feel him against her. She still wasn't sure where all this was coming from. But, for once she didn't complain, she actually liked this feeling. This feeling of.. want, desire, maybe? She was consumed with Kiddo, her thoughts drowning in his name, her feelings all pointing toward him. And when he brushed his fur up against her own, her legs felt shaky. She drew in a soft, wavering breath and all she could smell was his sweet scent, that drew her in like a strong tide. And she let him, she pressed herself deeper into him, wanting to be even closer than they were.
She looked up at him, so proud to call him her alpha, so proud to be in his pack, so proud to fight beside him. She gazed up into his grey, stormy eyes, captivating her own deep brown eyes, she could get lost, just like this and be content. No. She wanted more. Baby steps, though. She wasn't going to throw herself into the deep end and drown. No, she inched forward into the shallow end and made her way into the depths slowly. She lifted her crown and ran her tongue across the alpha's cheek and to the base of his ear. A kiss. A kiss that was innocent for now, but was it satisfying enough for Oka, it was for now.
She pulled back, wondering if she had over-stepped her boundaries, she looked away with the shyness of a young pup and the heat under her fur intensified. She felt like she was under the direct heat of the sun, but she didn't regret this kiss, in fact, she wanted more. Count --> 293 w. Muse --> it's okayyy... Tags --> Kiddo Notes --> IT'S GETTIN HOT IN HERE! XD
Femme's shaky breath, taking in his scent, was more than enough for Kiddo. He wanted and needed her. Her presence was overwhelming. Her scent was the most beautiful thing he had ever smelled and he had to have more. The scent was getting to be not enough for Kiddo. He wanted more. More of her. His breaths got deeper and slightly shakier. He had never done this before, ever. He of course knew what was going on but, he was inexperienced in this vital area of life. He didn't want to screw this up.
He wanted to press himself further next to Femme but, he didn't want to crush her. He was obviously bigger and wasn't sure how much of his weight she could take without injuring herself. When she pressed into him, he gently put more of his weight onto her but, was being careful with whatever piece of his brain hadn't turned to mush, to not crush her.
She had looked up at him with her beautiful brown pools into his grey ones. He stared into them for a long moment, enjoying the view he was getting. It was not often that he shared this type of relations with others, actually, this was the first time this was happening to him and he wanted to savor it. He was so happy and proud of Femme. She had given him the best thing he could have ever asked for. Her loyalty to him. Her performance with the bear was proof enough for loyalty and that was most of what he asked of his members. It was the most important rule.
Her kiss sent shivers down his spine. He returned the favor by giving her a kiss back in the same way she had done for him and then he rubbed his face all over her face in affection. But, she had pulled away from him. Did she change her mind? Is she not ready for this? Am I misreading what's going on here? Her pulling away from him, hurt him on the inside. He felt as though he had done something wrong. He couldn't let her see this. No. Femme, whats wrong? His body language left the hurt but, his eyes and voice couldn't be controlled. She looked like a pup unsure of the rules inside of a family. He stretched out his neck slightly, he wanted her to come closer again. He could have just moved closer to her but, he didn't want to push her too far. It would be safer for him if she just came over by him instead. He didn't want to be known as the rapist of Anikira and on a more caring level, he wanted her to be comfortable with him.
