Tibiki was bored. When were they going to meet other wolves? Mom was fun but she occasionally caught the scent of other wolves on the wind and her curiosity was overwhelming. Looking behind her at her mother and siblings she got a fierce grin on her face and started to sneak away from the group. Mom might not be ready to let her explore but she was more than ready.
She crept away as slowly as she could stand keeping her belly low to the ground and occasionally stopping to look behind her to make sure mom hadn’t noticed her escape. She grinned when she was finally out of sight of her mother and stood up bounding away with a happy yip.
Her tail wagging behind her she bound into the great beyond! She growled playfully as she saw a small squirrel a few feet away from her near a tree. She slowly crept towards the squirrel mimicking every move she had seen her mom make. Sadly her skills were nowhere near as good as an adult and her clumsy paws made loud noises that startled the squirrel.
She ran after the squirrel barking and yipping stumbling over her paws and falling flat on her face. She groaned as the squirrel made it too far up the tree for her to get it. “Oh come on I just wanted to play!
She snorted as the squirrel chattered at her, she didn’t really understand what it was saying but she knew it apparently wasn’t in a playful mood like she was. She snorted and turned to find something else to play with. A butterfly fluttered by and she quickly bound after it. The small bug didn’t run away like the squirrel and it was easy to catch when it stayed by the ground. She never actually caught the pretty little thing, but she enjoyed pouncing and running after it.
