Scout felt the warm air come over his fur like a ton of bricks. But, they were good bricks. It was nice to be somewhere warmer like this land. He remembered that this was the first place that he had come to, many months ago when he had first arrived here. He remembered all the beautiful flowers and the butterflies and the long naps he used to take in the sun. He also remembered a little puff of white fur that he had met here who was already almost full grown. She was the princess of Haishin and she was the sweetest little puppy he had ever met. Scout loved puppies, something about them made him more comfortable. He himself wished that he could have stayed a puppy for his entire life, how he wished that he could go back.
His long thin legs were trotting through the grass, looking for either something to eat or a place to take a nap. Scout missed his naps, they were so nice and it would be good to warm his fur again. His watchful eyes scanned the area, looking for movement or a nice patch of sun.
There were large game here but, Scout was too small to even think about trying to catch one of those. He was on the lower end of the weight scale for his breed when he was eating regularly but now, that he hadn't been hunting much at all, was nothing compared to a larger wolf. He was almost paper thin. His hip bones were sticking out and a few of his ribs were visible too and even a little bit of his backbone was showing if one looked close enough. He couldn't be upset about it though. He had done it to himself. He promised that he wouldn't hunt while in Akihra's lands and after he left, he couldn't seem to find anything. Scout wasn't the type to mope or complain about things. He would much rather just not think about it and try to find a solution quickly.
Then, he saw something move in the grass. It wasn't anything large for the grass covered it. Scout croutched low to the ground, hunting whatever just moved. He knew it wasn't a snake because they moved differently than rabbits or chipmunks. His sense of smell told him that it was a rabbit as he inched ever so slowly to it. Scout was a fast wolf and had caught rabbits many times before as long as they didn't run into any holes. But, with his weaker body he wasn't sure how long he could keep up with a rabbit. He couldn't even think about missing it. He wasn't sure how much longer he would survive after eating the rabbit let alone chasing it and using a load of energy and then missing it. That thought could not enter his mind.
He crept closer and closer until the rabbit was in veiw. It was a decent sized rabbit, not as fat as Scout would have liked but, it would make for a good meal. The rabbit then heard him and gave chace. Scout was off. Not even thinking, he bolted after the rabbit, letting instinct take over him. He twisted and turned with the rabbit, changing directions so quickly that only a rabbit or, an Iranian wolf could do. Scout's legs began to ache and the little voice in his head was telling him that he was tired but, he knew that he needed to catch this rabbit to live. His brain and his insticts pushed him forward, not letting him give up even though his body told him to stop. He kept chasing.
Finally, he was close enough to the rabbit to catch it. He jumped on top of it with the little energy that he had left and killed it immedietly. Scout never knew that he could be so ravenous like this. It was like he was really an animal. But, he couldn't think right now, he needed to eat. He ate the rabbit quickly in an attempt to restore some of his energy. Then, after the rabbit was only bones and hair, Scout rested his head on his paws and fell asleep. The smell of the rabbit didn't bother him. He was tired and wanted sleep. He probably looked as dead as the rabbit laying next to him if it wasn't for his breathing.
