The bear problem that currently faced the Amar pack was... interesting, to say the least. Hadrian's mind was still turning over the confrontation with Lynker, trying to understand what made the Arctic wolf tick. What sort of canine hung out with bears? It didn't make much sense to the Mexican male and the more he puzzled over it, the more the idea was starting to make his head hurt. Besides, he had more important things to do. Now that he had a home in the mountains he would need to start gathering supplies. With autumn approaching there was only so much time left before he would be able to get his paws on certain herbs. It was best he started stocking up while he still had some time.
While flowers would be hard to come by, trees and ferns were still in season. Barks could be especially useful which was reason enough to better acquaint himself with the Zaor Forest. Oblivious to the supposed claim laid by Haishin, Hadrian was taking his time as he wandered about the forest. The sights, scents, and sounds assaulted his senses in the best possible way, calming his nerves and soothing his mind. The male had always felt at ease around plants and trees. Nature held an overwhelming presence; its humbling effects were matched by none.
Hadrian paused in front of a tall birch tree, sniffing the bark before inspecting it with his eyes. Birch bark was known to prevent nausea and could be used as a fever reducer when properly prepared. The fact that the Zaor Forest was full of such trees was a blessing. The bark was easy to come by and a steady supply would definitely be useful in the winter months. After a bit more inspection, the Mexican male rose onto his back paws and began to scratch at the wood. Bark flaked off in long strips that would be easy to carry back up the mountainside. It wouldn't be long before he had a decent stash to return with.
Except for the fact that the whole time he worked it felt as if there were eyes upon him. It was unnerving, this feeling of being watched. For several minutes Hadrian continued to scratch at the bark, collecting materials. Subtly he gathered information with his other senses, trying to pinpoint the feeling. Sniff sniff sniff... Listen carefully... There! Hadrian turned, growling low in his throat as his eyes scanned the trees for the scent of raccoon. Finally he found the source, beady black eyes staring down at him from the branches. Growling again, he took several steps towards the spying nusciance only to watch it scurry down the tree and into the bushes. "Hmm, how odd." Turning back to the birch tree, Hadrian returned to the task at hand, unawares that the creature was still peeking at him from the bushes.ooc: in which Hadrian meets his new companion, a shy young raccoon .
