Rasalas instantly felt himself begin to calm down slightly, Aries came to him for protection. Her actions truly boosted his ego, she felt safe around him. "I won't let anything happen to you, Aries," he whispered almost directly in her ear as his pacing stopped and he stood close to her. The brute, mostly due to his ego boost, felt ever less threatened by the Iranian before him. It seemed not as if Aries had lied to him, for her actions spoke clearly that she knew not of the new male either. It was reassuring to know that she was not one of the ill-bred creatures his mother had told him stories of. She was a genuine creature born with a disability and a beautiful femme who had been treated like she was worthless. Rasalas was convinced that he could change her view on herself, it would take some work, but the brute was confident. He was concerned as to what she wanted to ask, but he figured now was not the time to shine too much light upon it. "I will stay as long as you would enjoy my company, and I do hope you will ask what you began inquiring about at a later time," another smile spread over his features before his attention shifted to the other brute.
"They call me Rasalas," the brute introduced himself swiftly. No longer was his tension so cruel, guard still remained; yet the brute no longer felt such a strong blood lust for the one called Scout. Quite a lot had occurred tonight, and Rasalas knew it would take a day or two in order for him to digest everything that happened. Perhaps the new brute wandering onto the terrain would work in his advantage, he hoped it did. Aries did not deserve to be alone, she deserved to have a brute that loved and cared for her as well as a pack... a family. Rasalas' mind began drifting, thoughts of joining a pack to bring her to once again filling his brain. 'I hope I can get her to agree to join with me, then she would see how useful she can be, and others will admire her as well.' His thoughts became droning as the brute half focused on reality for a few moments.
A slight laugh escaped his maw, "This desert is home to less creatures now than it used to be." His mood had lightened significantly in an attempt to make the smaller brute stick around. Rasalas really did mean no harm, even in his violent outbursts the brute had yet to harm another wolf. It was in fact his greatest fear. The rage that grew within him became overpoweringly strong at times; but the brute turned to run off the steam rather than fight. After losing his family and pack, the brute had learned not to kill another for no reason. Only in defense would Rasalas ever intentionally kill another creature. "The desert has many beneficial plants, I began learning my knowledge of medicine from this general area." The brute was not an expert of medicinal remedies, but he had enough knowledge to survive and help others along the way. He always had wanted to learn more about them though, but as of late his mind was focused on locating his two siblings.
With all the loners arriving upon this terrain, it was no wonder Rasalas had chosen it to search for Adhara and Algethi. They certainly would live on warm lands for they were of the red breed, as himself. Perhaps the new one would know if they had been around this area. Scout did say he had been hunting for herbs, perhaps Algethi was doing the same thing? She was always the more intelligent of the two females. "I do have a question for you, Scout. By any chance have you seen two young red females? I have been searching for my little sisters for quite some time..." the brute's voice trailed off in an attempt to hide some of the sorrow that was contained within himself. Silently the brute gave a reassuring nuzzle to Aries, it was much quicker than the last. It was his secret way of showing Aries that everything was going to be fine, that even though he did not doubt her abilities, he was not going to let anything harm her.

The blind fae could feel Rasalas’ body heat as he stood close to her, and instinctively moved closer. Despite the fact that they had hardly met a mere two or three hours ago, Aries felt safe standing beside him. In her world of unseeing darkness, anything friendly was something that she could trust, and Rasalas had proved – to Aries, at least – that he could be trusted. The red wolfs’ words calmed the edgy fae, and she offered him a gentle smile, whispering as she did so, ”Thank you, Rasalas.” The feeling of his warm breath in her ear calmed her even more, but it also inflicted a different sort of feeling within the femme: wanting.
Aries started slightly at this sudden feeling as it rolled through her body. It was strange, alien and unnatural. She hardly knew the brute! Still, she argued silently to herself, in a way it was natural. After all, hadn’t she been alone ever since she left her parents? She’d gone through heat a couple times now; she knew the instinctual, throbbing pains that was her body’s desire to mate. Even so, it made her feel awkward. Aries shifted slightly away from Rasalas, before she murmured, ”I think I would enjoy your company, as a matter of fact.” Chuckling softly, Aries turned her attentions back towards the newest wolf. As his quiet apology reached her sharp ears, the Mexican female sighed and took a step forward.
”Don’t apologize. It’s just…I’m rather protective of this land; I’ve lived here my entire life. I fear those who may wish to take it away from me.” Aries told the wolf, a touch of despondency entering her voice. Upon hearing the name of the wolf, the fae nodded gently. ”It’s nice to meet you, Scout…my name is Aries. Feel free to look around for herbs…after all, loners travel here freely, as no pack has laid claim to the Occasus in a few years.” she continued, her last words holding what might have been bitter undertones. Her ears flattened somewhat upon her skull, and Aries backed away, turning from the two brutes and padding a ways away. She would let them talk medicine, she decided. Besides, the Mexican fae didn’t know very much about herbs, and doubted that she would be able to help Scout.
As the two brutes talked, Aries went back to thinking. ’A pack…in the Occasus.’ Her thoughts churned within her mind, and the contents of her stomach followed suit. The very thought of a pack, any pack, residing in the desert whether Aries was a part of it or not, made the femme feel nervous and ill. Perhaps she had some sort of problem when it came to others. ”That wouldn’t be very surprising.” she snorted aloud to herself, a deep sigh tugging her body once more onto the cool sand. ”After all, you know where they’ve gotten you.” she continued sullenly, muttering under her breath.
A soft breeze stirred Aries’ fur, and she inhaled the scents that came with the breeze: The Sea, tangy and filled with salt, the volcano in the north, smelling of ash and choking smoke, and the river, clean and sweet-smelling. The female licked her lips, remembering her thirst, and she stood. She moved towards the two males once more, her face impassive. ”Rasalas, Scout,” she sighed softly, raising her muzzle to the sky. ”Morning is not far off – it will be getting hot as the sun rises. I think it is time I return to my den.” she continued, feeling her desire for cold water rise. ”There is a river to the east. Rasalas, meet me when you can, at night, for I sleep during the day. I live in a cavern beneath the Pievunt-An, in Isdyn’s Deep” Aries added to Rasalas. She gave the brute a quick nuzzle before stepping away.
”Scout, you are free to visit me as well, in a few days’ time. There is something I must figure out with Rasalas. It was great meeting you. Both of you.” Aries finished with a soft smile, though on the inside she was confused and afraid. She turned away, padding towards the river and her home, wondering what she was going to do. A few moments passed, and Aries’ shadow vanished from the horizon.

Now, both of the two wolves before him had seemed to calm down significantly. He began to wonder if the two were actually mates and he had interrupted something important. That would be awkward. He noticed that the red wolf whispered something into the mexican's ear but, he hadn't the slightest idea of what he had said. Scout was indeed getting a bit older and was probably close to the prime in his life but, his hearing wasn't as great as it had been a year ago. He was old enough now to not be so stupid but, young enough to still get around. Scout was at a good age now where he could actually get things done.
He did hear however, when the Mexican asked how long the Red would be staying. Which, really made him question what their relationship was like. Scout had never had a mate before in his life so, he didn't know what it felt like but, he had seen others and heard stories of others who would cheat on their partners with another! Scout thought that, that's what must be happening here. They seemed to know each other well and it would explain why the Mexican asked how long the Red would be staying. He might have another female waiting on him. The thought of it made Scout a bit angry but, he didn't want to jump to conclusions too quickly. He may just be overreacting.
Pleasure to meet you, Raslas. Scout spoke to the Red who now had a name. But, he wasn't so sure how pleasurable the meeting really was, depending on if he was cheating on another female with this one. The female then took a step towards him and he wondered what she would do with him. But, she didn't look aggressive or angry with him. She merely said to not apologize and that she was just protective over the land. That was a feeling he had never felt. Protectiveness...over land? That was odd. Why would one care for land? It was dirt and rocks and water. They should belong to everyone. No wolf, as far as he knew, made the dirt or the rocks or the water so, why should anyone have rights to it? Just because one howls, stating that they now own a piece of land, does not mean that it is a right thing to do.
The female also introduced herself. Pleasure to meet you too, Aries. He smiled at her before continuing. Thank you, I promise I wont take anything from here except for some plants. He felt the need to reassure her that he wasn't going to steal anything from here. Which, he thought was an odd thing to have to even say but, he felt in necessary.
With the mood being significantly lighter than what it had been moments ago, Scout was also able to relax and his posture became more upright and his ears were now more alert. Of course he was still sitting because he was just being too lazy to get up. When Rasalas spoke of himself knowing medicine, Scout became excited and his tail began to sway back and forth slowly on the sand below him. Really? Wow.. Do you know if there is a Yohimbe Tree around? I'd really like to find one and I've heard that they are found here in the Occasus. It felt nice to actually be able to ask someone if there was something around instead of going on a long journey all by himself without any clue of whether what he was actually looking for was even there. That was the bad part about being a loner shaman, there was no one to gather herbs for you.
He noticed that Aries has padded a few steps away, he wondered if she was going to leave. But, then she came back and said that she was going to leave for sleep. Not a bad idea. But, Scout had work that needed to be done. Thank you again, Aries. It was great meeting you as well. Scout didn't know if he would actually visit her or not. She seemed sincere in her offering but, he didn't really want to walk into one of these situations again.

The brute lightly observed the two before him, pleased that they seemed to know not who the other was. 'At least I'm not the only one who gets to meet new wolves today,' the brute's eyes glittered with happiness that he had not felt in awhile. Although his sister's had not been located, he still was able to meet new beings. And, thankfully, neither of them seemed all that bad. Aries was a rather beautiful creature, and the brute did feel a certain attraction to her. Perhaps due to the fact she was a female, or maybe it was something more than that. Rasalas was not one hundred percent certain himself what was going on within himself, but he hoped it was good. And this new brute, Scout, he seemed to share an interest in herbs and plants. That was truly a characteristic that was hard to find among wolves; although Rasalas knew not everything, he was rather proficient in medicine.
His attention quickly focused upon Aries as she continued speaking to the male, and then announced she was going to leave. A smile crept over the red brute's features as he was invited to the female's den. It would be quite a pleasure for him. His eyes took a fond look at the femme before she left, "I will certainly meet you at nightfall darling Aries," the smile never faded from his features. "Be safe," he bowed his head to the femme, although she could not see it, "And have the sweetest of dreams." The brute observed her as she walked away, and did not return his attention back towards the brute until her silhouette faded away.
Scout inquired about the yohimbe, that plant had always intrigued Rasalas. During specific times of the year it would release its' pods and they would spin rather quickly in a perfect pattern until they landed upon the ground. As a whelp, he used to always love playing with them and trying to catch them in his mouth as he ran around beneath them. Oh! The days of sweet innocence. "I do believe there a few yohimbe trees not to far off this way," the brute nodded his cranium in the opposite direction that the femme had went. He had a hard time focusing on the land and the male in front of him, as deep within he truly just wanted to know what Aries had wanted to tell him. Patience was indeed a virtue, and it was not one that Rasalas had quite mastered yet.
As he waited for the smaller brute to follow him, Rasalas let his mind wander slowly. At first it was flashbacks of him as a whelp, rolling around with his family. The sun was brightly shining upon him, and he enjoyed the warmth. At least for now, eventually the sun would become overbearingly warm and he would have to retire to the dens for shelter, but for now everything was ever so perfect. Until an instant change swept over him, the brute almost felt chilled as the snow fell in his mind. Now he played the adult wolf as he observed the two bundles of fur that so closely resembled him. 'Rasalas! Come here!' he heard Algethi call out to him, while Adhara nibbled upon his ear. The thoughts almost brought tears to his mind. It would be quite the dream if they were brought home to him. And now there was him. It was a rather imaginative thought of the future. The brute found himself laying in the shade of a tree, gently nuzzling the silhouette of a femme he could not identify. And not to far off he heard the familiar cry of whelps. The brute shook his cranium violently, casting the day dreams away from his mind. Now was surely not the time to think of love and family, for their were plants to be gathered.
His golden glance was set to the sky for a moment, it was true that sunrise would not be too far off and eventually he too would need to find a location to retire for sleep; yet, the brute was unable to turn down a small adventure for medicine. Secretly, he was thankful that he didn't have to be alone. After all, certainly his imagination would run him over and he would be unable to find whatever he was searching for. Scout would certainly be able to keep him on track.

As the female named Aries left, he noticed Raslas observe her. Scout couldn't help but connect a few dots. It wasn't hard for a wolf to notice feelings between wolves, except when one of those wolves are yourself. Scout had to try his hardest to not chuckle at the young love. Though, he didn't know how old the wolves actually were, they looked like they couldn't possibly be older than himself. He thought about saying something to the Red wolf but, he decided to leave it be. Their relationship with one another was their own business and not his own. He would have been shocked if he would have found out that they had also only met today.
The tree he had been looking for had it unique qualities about it and it medicinal value would come in handy. Scout tried to focus on finding plants that could cure common sicknesses or sicknesses that most wolves could have gotten. When one was a shaman for the loners, he couldn't afford to look all over kingdom come for plants that he may not even need. But, the thought always dawned on him that if anyone should need something peculiar, chances are that he would have to turn them away or risk leaving them alone for days to find the plant. That was something that he never wanted to experience though, he knew that it would probably happen to him at one point.
When Raslas nodded his head in the direction that he believed that he saw the tree he had been looking for, Scout smiled. He was thankful that he wouldn't have to travel across this unkind, merciless dessert alone in search of it. Dying alone in the middle of the dessert didn't sound like a fun time to Scout. Though, he liked the temperature and the the sand, he didn't know the area well and it could be deadly for him to be traveling alone.
Scout got up and followed Raslas, totally trusting him to take him where they needed to get.
Adventures were always fun, when he had the motivation to actually get up and have them. He remembered going off on his own all the time as a pup. Discovering frogs and rabbits and other woodland creatures that had been around where he had been born. He remembered long naps in the sun. He remembered the horribleness that had been his father. He remembered how tough the pack was and how mean they were to him. He remembered the name calling and the talking behind his back. It was things like that which made him not want to join a pack again. It was for fear that something like that may happen again. It was true that maybe his problems may not have been as severe as some of the other wolves' that he had met but, they were still important to him and they still bothered him.
But, Scout still hated the forever loneliness that came with being a loner. He disliked always being by himself with no one but the birds to talk to. He hated feeling like he was uncared for. He didn't want to die and have no one notice or have no one care. He wanted to matter in the world. He wanted to mean something to someone. So that, was why he was conflicted about joining or not joining a pack. Each choice was filled with risks. Scout was not good with risks.

Rasalas' shoulders rolled lightly as he began the short adventure towards the location he believed the yohimbe tree to be at. His tail was swinging briskly behind him, and the brute seemed to be fairly at ease. The company of Scout was easy to handle for him, the red brute was significantly calmer around him than Aries. Although he did miss her company, he fully understood that a lovely lady did indeed need her sleep. He shrugged to himself and continued to tread on forward. He felt the smaller brute close behind him, and casually slowed his pace until the two were walking side by side. Rasalas by no means wanted to make the other wolf feel inferior, for there was no reason to. Not one of them was better than the other in any way, shape or form.
After about a quarter of an hour worth of walking, Rasalas cast a golden glance towards the Iranian. "It is not too much farther ahead," he chuckled slightly, attempting to break the ice a bit. "And I don't believe you answered earlier, I'm sorry to inquire again, but have you seen two red femmes wandering around these parts? I'm on a desperate hunt to find my sisters." A sorrowful sigh escaped the brute's lips before he could catch himself. It truly did bother him that his sister's had disappeared like that, and a part of Rasalas wished he could at least find their dead bodies. Then there would be closure. That was something Rasalas needed, he just wanted to know if the hope he held was for no reason at all.
Despite the fact that he knew there was no point in worrying, the brute couldn't prevent it. Every day the two young ones crossed his mind, he could still see them vividly within his mind as newborns. The brute's head hung low between his shoulders, it was all his fault. If only he had been able to find food earlier, he never would have had to leave them alone. The brute stopped for a moment, gripping his claws deep within the ground beneath himself. Attempting to calm the cauldron of emotions that was boiling within his soul. "So, uh Scout," the brute shifted to glance at the other male for a moment, "Do you mind if I inquire why you're alone?" Rasalas desperately needed to switch his mind from the subject of his sisters. He highly doubted that they had been seen, no other loner had even caught a scent of them.
He began heading forward once again, they were nearing the place that the tree should be around. Rasalas stayed mostly quiet, waiting for the other to respond, and praying that the response was not something extremely unpleasant. Yet, it seemed that most loners did have some sort of depressing story, it sort of went with the territory of being a 'loner.' Somehow though, the brute still did not fully believe that all loners truly didn't want a family, perhaps they just had not found one that suited them well yet. Maybe they would both find one soon, Rasalas sure hoped so. He wanted to bring Aries to a pack as well, it would be safer for all of them. "I see it!" Rasalas exclaimed slightly louder than he expected to, "Sorry, I just was nervous that I got turned around and I didn't want you to think I was just dragging you around aimlessly." A soft awkward chuckle emitted his maw. Before them stood three yohimbe trees, closely bunched together with some low laying shrubs close to the ground.
