Rasalas had been hunting faithfully for the young, blind femme, and she felt as if she were in debt to him. The red wolf was kind, and he seemed to care genuinely for Aries. He always knew how to make her smile. A week or so had passed since the meeting with her future pack mates and Kyra – she hadn’t asked the pup whether or not she was going to stay with the adults or not – and Aries ankle was doing much better. It was completely healed per se, but she was able to walk on it without much of a limp; she just needed to move slowly. Aries, as well as the other wolves, had been staying in the vicinity of Isdyn’s Deep, something the blind fae was grateful for. It allowed her to connect with her future pack, and provide deeper feelings of trust and friendship. Even so, the femme needed some private time with her future beta, Rasalas, and so they had decided to meet up at the river. Aries stepped up to the bank, lapping the crisp, cool water. It moistened her dry tongue and parched mouth, and she kept drinking slowly for a few moments. After she’d gotten her fill, she lay once again upon the sandy bank as she’d done a week ago, dipping her ankle into the water. It wasn’t swollen anymore, but it did throb occasionally. She figured that she’d sprained it, as twisting it wouldn’t have caused an infection. Either way, it was healing, and that’s what mattered. Aries stretched out, sighing in pleasure, the water numbing her paw. She closed her eyes, relaxing in the dawn. She’d taken a nap earlier in the night, while Rasalas had gone off to hunt for the others as well as Aries, and expected him to turn up soon. The sun was just beginning to rise, and Aries knew it must have been beautiful. Usually though, they would have to retreat back inside the dens, as it would get warmer. At least fall was here, and they were able to come out during the day time. Aries yawned widely, stretching out her jaw, her tongue slipping past her lips slightly. She closed her maw, licking her lips, straining her auds. He would come soon; it wouldn’t take him that long. Aries and Rasalas needed to talk about the pack – she would be claiming the Occasus soon, and she wanted everything to go off without a hitch. Aries felt proud of herself – finally, she was able to prove to everyone that she was worth something! She was strong enough, physically and mentally, to become an Alpha. Her pack would be great, she knew it…she’d even thought of a name! ”Ryala…” she murmured aloud, smiling as the name rolled from her maw smoothly. Aries hoped that the others would like it – after all, it wouldn’t be a pack without them. She decided that, when she claimed it, she would offer the half-blind pup Kyra a place within her ranks… Aries could teach her, it would be great! She had grown quite fond of the pup, and oftentimes liked to lay with her. But then again, she liked to lay with all of her friends, Rasalas and Scout, and Kyra. Six rabbits were all he had managed to find, all were dead though. Rasalas panted as the blood aggressively pumped through his body, "Damn it," he growled slightly to himself. Six rabbits would not be able to keep them all full for long, but there was always tomorrow. It could easily hold them over for today, and he would be able to say that even in the desolate desert lands food had been brought. A roar caught the sound of the brute's ears, his stomach was rather angry. It had been almost three days since he had eaten, it seemed that his mind became less and less focused on himself every day. It was almost strange how the other three wolves had quickly become family to him, as they received first dibs on almost all food. Then again, they had never seen the brute eat. Rasalas would usually bring the food straight to the other wolves and allow them to eat, if the brute decided he was hungry a small portion of food would be consumed prior to returning to the pack. Rasalas felt like eating in front of the pack was taking from them, after all food was scarce. If he ate a small portion of the food before returning home, then the others would be able to eat everything else. 'Home, it is funny how things change so quickly. We are almost already a pack although we do not have the official titles yet,' A snicker sounded briefly before the brute decided that one rabbit would suffice as his dinner. Picking a medium sized plump bunny from the group, the brute began by ripping out the remnants of its' jugular. Blood poured over his paw and maws; yet the brute offered not a single care. Instinct had taken over and he was pleased with stuffing his face for the moment. The brute did not waste time though, it took him less than ten minutes to completely devour the poor creature. Sucking out the last bit of marrow from a bone, the brute sighed contentedly. His fill had been had, slightly, and now it was time to return to the others. It was tough to grab the other five rabbits, but the brute managed and quickly he began running towards the direction of the river. Aries was supposed to be waiting there for him, they were having a special pack meeting of sorts. And Rasalas was pleased that Aries would get her pick of the remaining five rabbits to eat, after all she was the Alpha. For a moment the brute felt poorly about consuming food without her approval, yet he figured she would not mind. If anything the femme would be pleased that he did eat, as more often than not he passed on food when he was out hunting for the pack. The scent of water filled his nares and the brute caught the sound rather quickly after, the river was near. And before the brute realized it, not only was the stream in view but the beautiful femme was as well. He trotted over to the femme, and lowered his head in greeting. Groaning a bit as the five rabbits fell from his maw and landed on the ground in front of the female Rasalas began speaking, "Greetings my darling Aries," the brute realized his bow had not been noticed, yet the gesture still stood. She was going to be his alpha, the utmost respect must be showed for her. The red brute wanted her to believe that he would be a great beta, as he accepted the position with the highest of honors. "It is quite a lovely morning, if you're hungry I brought five rabbits. I know it is not much, but the night life was a bit slow," a defeated sound slipped from his lips before the brute could stop it. Rasalas did not mean to give even a hint of the fact that he believed he had failed her, and quietly he admitted, "My apologies, but I did consume a rabbit before returning." His tail flicked a few times and the brute could not resist the urge to nuzzle the femme any longer. Paws carried him the few steps forward and the brute pressed his face against the female's back. A slow inhale allowed her beautiful scent to fill his nostrils, 'Face it, I'm falling for her, whether I like it or not.' Although the fact had now been admitted to himself that did not make the situation much easier. Rasalas had already told himself that once she chose her mate he could not be angry with her, it was not her fault that he felt the way he did. Either way, his support would always lie within his pack, it was bred into the brute's system. The only time he would leave was when he was hunting, or searching even if that meant for his sister's. The brute minded not going out on hunts, as it allowed him time to think about all the changes that were rapidly occurring in his life, it gave him the opportunity to think clearly about everything. The last thing Rasalas wanted was to make the wrong decision, as everything was going so well in his life. The brute pulled his face from the female's back and licked the side of her maw quickly before stepping away, after all Aries would probably want to examine the rabbits and eat.

It made her mouth water. The scent was so overpowering in Aries scent glands that she could hardly smell Rasalas, even though she knew he must be carrying the prey. She smiled, getting up and turning around, moving a few paces from the river. Aries knew that this particular river could change its’ pace and pull, and she had been taught to never turn her back on it – as long as she was close to it. As Rasalas spoke, the sound of his sweet voice filled Aries’ ears, and she smiled warmly. It felt to the blind femme that they had been best friends their whole life, that they had grown up together. Aries could hardly help the happiness she felt inside when she knew Rasalas was near – he was a great friend, loyal to her. She had never had loyalty before. Scout was loyal, too, and she was sure that Kyra would be, if she wanted to join the pack. Aries’ tail beat the ground gently as she nodded to the red brute. ”It is a lovely morning…I am glad I can experience the dawn again. If only the summers were not so brutal.” Aries offered a slightly sad sigh, though she cheered up quickly. She turned her muzzle down towards the rabbits, scenting them. Upon Rasalas’ words of apology, she shook her head. ”No, dear Rasalas. As my future beta…you have that right.” she told him, a mischievous look entering her unseeing eyes. Another chuckle as she picked out a rabbit – it was older, but of fair size. The future Alphess wanted the best for her pack, and as such she often picked the lower-quality meat; Aries had never been a picky eater, nor selfish. Gently pawing the others away, Aries tore into the carcass. The meat was fairly fresh, and blood soaked the fur on her maws and her muzzle. It was a little tough, but it didn’t bother the Mexican femme; she ate it happily, instinctual growls rumbling from her chest as she tugged her favorite pieces from the animal. It was over soon enough, Aries crunching down upon a few bones – she’d left more than half the rabbit. Since her injury, she really hadn’t moved much, and she’d not burnt much of her food off. Aries licked her paws, saying between licks, ”I can’t eat any more….you have it, Rasalas.” She knew her poor friend hadn’t been eating much, and she wanted him healthy and well-nourished. Paws clean, Aries started swiping her tongue across her muzzle, trying to get the blood off; it was harder than her paws. She chuckled a little, positioning herself so that she could lie comfortably. ”As you know, I wanted to discuss the pack – we can make it short though, as I’m sure Scout and Kyra are hungry. As soon as we’re done, we can call them and they can eat.” She told the red wolf, nodding with a smile. Her confidence levels had risen quite a lot since she’d met Rasalas and Scout, and she was feeling much better about herself. Truth be told, she had practiced greeting a “strange” wolf, using Rasalas to play the loner. It was quite amusing, but of vital importance to the upcoming Alphess; she needed to know how to greet loners accordingly, and she was feeling better about it every day. Aries chuckled a little as Rasalas moved towards her, nuzzling into her nape. ”That tickles!” she barked playfully, nipping gently at his throat and legs. When he moved again, she was still laughing softly. She had a sort of soft spot for her first friend, but she hadn’t actually thought about why Rasalas wanted to be so close, physically, to her. Aries merely figured it was because they were good friends and trusted each other. Using her good paw, she pushed Rasalas down onto his side, smirking a bit. ”I was thinking of a name.” she started, once they had both settled down. Aries licked her lips, closing her eyes before she finished, ”How about Ryala?” Words;; 694 Muse;; Great! Mood;; Happy, excited, playful. Notes;; My muse is coming back!

It was much more comfortable upon these lands when the cooler months were settling in, yet the diversity of these lands were rather nice. The red one turned the glance back towards the female and grinned, "It is so serene in the winter months, yet if the summers were not so harsh; then we would not appreciate mornings such as this." The brute was going to add another comment regarding Aries's beauty, but he was becoming more nervous about it. He was afraid that if he told the female that he was rather fond for her, then perhaps she would be uncomfortable and not want him within the unformed pack. Especially not as the beta. Rasalas bit his tongue as the thoughts of being told he had crossed his boundaries swam around him. A home was so close to being his, and with creatures that were rather splendid as well. He did not want to lose this dream, almost everything else was already gone. As she spoke to him that it was acceptable for him to eat, he shifted nervously for a second before bowing his head to the femme. Sometimes the red brute wondered why he bowed to Aries as often as he did, after all the femme was blind. She could not see if he was bowing or not, yet Rasalas could not help it. His ears flicked a few times and the scent of blood nearly made his stomach growl again. The hunger that was strong within him would not be satisfied by one rabbit, but the brute was not going to be selfish. Yet, as Aries told him it was okay for him to have ate one of the rabbits he smiled, "Thank you," his voice trailed off for a second. "Aries," it took the brute a moment to catch himself as he almost had added a 'my dear' a the end of his thank you. But the brute was not going to seem too pushy for the female. Butterflies were growing within himself, but he tried to ignore them and focus on the half of a rabbit that Aries pushed towards him. Bones were soon being splintered by the brute's strong jaw, and hungrily he sucked all meat and marrow from the small creature's skeleton. His tail was thumping loudly behind him, it was truly difficult for Rasalas to hide the joy within himself from being able to eat a bit more. His body was beginning to feel achy from the lack of food, but hopefully within a day or two the pack would be able to have more food. It just meant he was going to venture out every day and take down any breathing creature that he could find. Upon the completion of his meal, the brute twitched his auds as he listened closely to Aries's voice. Whilst she spoke to him about the pack, he attempted to clean his muzzle from the blood that the small animal had put upon it. It pleased Rasalas greatly that Aries truly intended to go through with the formation of the pack, the femme would probably never know how proud he was of her. She had been so afraid and cold to others only a few days ago due to her past encounters with wolves, however now it seemed that her demeanor and attitude had completely changed. This was one of the many things that caused Rasalas to care so deeply for Aries. Rasalas nodded his head, "Yes, I am certain they are. I only wish I could have found more food for everyone this morning. Either way, indeed we were to discuss the pack." The brute's mind was slightly hazy, but that could just be from exhaustion. Although he had slept the night before, it was going to take several nights for him to get back to feeling energized. Yet mere moments later the femme was playfully nipping at him, and all thoughts of hunting and other tasks he should accomplish fell away. He playfully swung at Aries a few times and let her push him over, after all it was a good excuse for him to lay next to her. Rasalas moved slightly to be closer to the femme, that way they both could be relaxed as well as converse. Yet, he did get in one more playful nuzzle before attempting to put on his responsible, adult demeanor. 'Ryala,' the brute spoke the name a few times over in his mind. It had a rather nice ring to it and he would imagine that saying it would roll of the tongue rather pleasantly. "I think Ryala is a lovely name,darling. It is easy to remember and fluid to say," the brute enjoyed the unique sound of the word as well, but he did not want Aries to believe that he was merely trying to pretend he liked the name. He sighed softly, finally being able to relax next to one of the dearest creatures to him. Perhaps this pack ordeal would actually be coming true soon, and maybe she really would offer him Beta position. It made Rasalas excitedly nervous, as more than anything he wanted Aries to be safe and well taken care of.

Although it was true, each day was rather bland for Aries; at least the pack would help her and bring life into the parched desert. She just wasn’t so sure if she wanted to share. In truth, she still didn’t want any other strangers in her land. Rasalas had been kind and gained her favor; Scout, she didn’t know too well, but he had also been kind enough. And Kyra? She was a poor young wolf who obviously needed somewhere new to stay. Aries hadn’t yet asked her what demons she were escaping, and wasn’t sure it was right to ask. Still, she would know, one day. Aries sighed a little to herself, lost in her own thoughts and fears. She didn’t speak to Rasalas, for what did she really have to say? She merely grimaced inwardly, waiting until the buzzing sound that was her friends’ voice died down. ”Rasalas,” she said abruptly, facing him. Her face seemed deadly serious, and her creamy maw held no hints of a smile. Aries took a deep breath and growled, ”I actually think I need some time to myself. I just need to think about some things. Take those back to the den,” she added, nudging the other rabbits with her paw. ”I won’t be gone long.” she promised, turning away from the brute and starting to pad off. Aries felt guilty about leaving her friend so suddenly, but what choice did she have? She couldn’t give Rasalas the attention he deserved, not when thoughts were swirling all around her! No, she needed time alone, time to think and reminisce. She had to get a few things figured out before she called her friends together with a claiming howl… Words;; 307 Muse;; Crap. Mood;; Serious. What had happened so instantly to make her want to be away from him like this? His golden gaze narrowed on the femme with a look of complete concern. 'What have I done? Is she truly so bothered by me? Maybe I have been intruding,' anger and sorrow swelled up within his soul and the brute turned away as the femme spoke shortly of needing to leave. Slowly his head nodded, a feeble attempt to pretend that the sudden change of her mood was acceptable to him. The brute instantly regretted eating the meat, or admitting to consuming it, had that truly bothered her that much? Merely moments ago everything had seemed so wonderful, but now the female wanted an escape it seemed. The red brute was going to let her leave, there was no reason for him to try and stop her. Slowly he cast a glance back in her direction as she started padding away from him, before she got too far Rasalas decided to speak. "Of course," his words were dry and presently his mind was slightly clouded over. The brute was going to be bringing the food to the dens, and then perhaps he would wander. Perhaps he needed to think things over as well, the red brute felt unwanted and used. 'I was so good to have around when she needed me, yet now she has things straightened out or so it seems.' A grumble escaped his maw and the brute began padding towards the dens, this time he was not going to watch Aries leave. The abrupt reason she had for leaving was unknown to him, and the brute was not quite sure how to take it. Was he being used or did she just need to debate the pack more within her mind? Either way, Rasalas felt slightly wounded within from her consuming the rabbit and leaving. As the image of her walking away faded in his mind, Rasalas let out a fierce growl. "Why am I so stupid?" He could not help but ask himself out loud, maybe this was all such a cleverly disguised plan. Just as he had feared from the beginning. Yet, the rage within himself was not alone. Alongside the rage was also sorrow. Aries had just decided that she did not need his company although she had summoned him and happily consumed the food he brought. 'Is she using me?' the brute flexed his claws into the ground beneath himself as he stopped walking for a few moments. Algethi and Adhara danced through his mind, they had always been bouncing and excited to see him; yet, they also appreciated everything he did for them. Perhaps not all creatures were as loving as that. His golden eyes began filling with liquid, and the red brute closed his optics tightly trying to push the pain from his heart. He felt alone again, completely and utterly alone. A quick flashback brought the brute to a laying position almost instantly, it was nearly a collapse. Rasalas vividly remembered the feelings he experienced when he realized that his siblings were gone. A few lone tears streamed down the brute's face and he used one of his front paws to quickly wipe them away. Standing up slowly the brute gathered the rabbits again, and continued on towards the den. 'I will not show that I care anymore, I see where it gets me,' the brute was shaking the thought of Aries from his mind for now. After all, in a few days he would know for certain if she despised his company that much.
