Polaris's red body sat next to the rushing river that split the countryside in half. On one side lay the rest of the Occasus then the I'queyer. The fae's amber eye's stared into the the shallow depth of the river. Her reflection was clearly visible on the glassy finish of the water. Her red bushy fur was fluffed up from the wind blowing across the Sands of Rodorr which she crossed to get here. The past fews days had been hectic, first joining the pack and then finding her place within it. Polaris came her just to get away from it all. Her first appearance hadn't been the best, but the pack seemed to accept her. No matter what she did she always seemed to be the odd-wolf out.
Her thoughts were broken as she caught a glimpse of red out of the corner of her eye. Polaris slowly raised herself up off her haunches and stared into the shallows. A large red fish was slinking across the silt, it's fat sleek body flicking and twisting up stream. Polaris stalked along the edge of the water her paws partially submerged. Her eyes trailed the path of the fish calculating it's speed and where it was headed. Polaris knew better than to pounce where the fish was currently but instead leap to where it was headed. The fish stayed at a continuos pace still heading up stream, Polaris seized the moment. Her haunches released as she lunged forward. The fae landed a cone of water erupting from the river. The sensation of fatty blood filled her mouth and the flopping and fighting began. Polaris carried the fish from the water, and laid it out on the bank. The dead fish looked at her with cold dead eyes. Polaris said her prayers and tore off a piece of the thick, fatty flesh of fish.
Salty juices filled her mouth as she looked back out at the river. It's so beautiful the fae thought to herself. The gray bluish water rushed across the earth making sharp twists and turns farther down stream. The current was strong in the middle and no wolf ever dared to swim across. There where shallower parts where you could wade up north but this far down river it would take days to make it upstream. The fae ate on her fish the memorizing river her entertainment.
It was all too new to the fae. This whole family, pack, thing. She never knew who to trust and who not too. She always seemed to make the wrong friends and even worse enemies. But, everyone had their friends and foes it was part of life. The hot sun struck her back warming her bright run and brown pelt, illuminating her highlights and muscle outlines. Her focus on training was even evident by her body, beneath the layer of red fur laid an even thicker layer of stout and lean muscle.
The mare's peace was broken by the call of a hawk above. The shrill squack piercing her auds. The hawk took swift quick dives at her fish crying an awful battle call. Polaris spun in circles dazed by the sudden attack. The hawk circled around again and dove yet again, by now Polaris was starting to catch on to it's technique. As it's dived it swooped up before it touched the ground so all she do was strike it before it had the chance to pull up. The hawk squealed and dove again. This time Polaris was ready. As the hawk dove Polaris raised a paw the hawk started to pull up but Polaris batted it with her paw. The bird squalled and circled around in a defeated manner until it decided to fly off. "Yay fly off you big coward!" the fae yelled to the bird a smirk upon her maw.
The fae lowered her haunches to sit and looked at her fish. The hawk had took a good chuck of the meat and only a little remained. It's scraps now the fae thought to her self shoving the limp body to the side. Polaris got up and looked at the shallow water hoping to find another, but she couldn't see past the mud she had stirred up getting the first fish. She moved a little bit more up stream where a small school of fish where lazily swimming about. Polaris easily snatched one of the smaller one and took it back to her spot. Polaris sighed and sat down. Muse: Amazing! Words: Seven hundred fifty-one OCC: It's weird I know but I had to start somewhere.
The days had grown long for Rasalas, but less stressful. At least things were getting better instead of worse. True, he had not seen Aries recently; yet, there was not much he was able to do about that. It seemed that perhaps she was less interested in him than he believed, he had aided her to see the power she held within. And that would have to be enough. It would have to be enough, he would be trusted Beta and that is all. It truly was a bit of a shame that nothing more would be coming from this, but it was the red brute's own fault for getting his hopes up too high. 'It was foolish to believe that things would get better, that everything would be flawless and great,' he shook his head slowly as he continued padding across the lands. The brute had no plans at the moment, nothing particular that he was doing today. Nothing but remaining angry at himself it seemed. 'Worry not, it is merely the same experiences you have been ailed from before,' his crania shook slowly.
After rushing away from the land claiming, Rasalas was fairly certain that few had seen him. And none knew of what went on within the boundaries of the other pack, it was nothing he wished to speak of at the moment. It had been rather suddenly that Elu had decided to summon him, but it made the red brute feel highly important. Especially after the occurrence that he had suffered with Aries storming off, it made him feel useful that a creature from another pack would want his aid. 'Maybe I am worth no more than helping other creatures, aiding them so that they may succeed in life,' a low growl escaped his vocals. What was the point to his efforts if everything merely crashed down upon him in the end? Anger began flaring up within the Beta's body, but he did not attempt to stifle it at this moment; after all he was alone so there really was no point.
Shoulders rolled smoothly whilst his muscles rippled beneath his multi-hued pelt, the day was warm; but Rasalas noticed it not. His figure had become larger, more defined through the recent weeks; yet, that was expected when one had to care for a family. It was not feeling much like a family recently though, everyone seemed to have wander and die away. However, the Beta knew that it was most likely him being simply busy. Yet, the welcome home had been rather nonexistent, perhaps he had merely been used to aid in the creation of this pack; no, no. His head shook so hard that his auds began beating against his skull, 'Stop that,' but the brute could not. Something about Aries had drawn him in, he had fallen for her a bit and there was no longer any way that he would be able to deny it.
A scent overwhelmed the brute's muzzle, the scent of the femme who had joined in the claiming. The one who had inquired rather abruptly to join the pack. Rasalas had probably judged more than necessary, but he felt no remorse for it. His frustrations had been high and he had not taken out a single ounce of his true feelings on the female. Thus, the brute decided that it would be a good time indeed to make a more formal introduction. His auds held erect, the brute made his way towards the direction her smell was coming from. His stance was tall, proud, dominant; unlike the way he typically would carry himself, not like the female would notice the difference either way for she had not seen much of him. 'Perhaps she doesn't even know who I am,' a chuckle escaped his lips, and the female came into view.
Casually the brute meandered towards the other femme, not speaking a word of his arrival. It was not in an attempt to be rude, but the brute simply hardly knew what to say. Lately his mind had been overloaded to the extent that words were at a loss for him, conversing with his pack mate could potentially do him well. At least the brute stopped, standing rather close to the female, and decided it would be his time to speak, "Why hello there, miss nameless femme." A slight laugh bore through his features, and the brute managed a slight grin. It was not half-hearted just tired, worn; as if the brute had attempted to give the happy gesture too many times within his short life. The Beta thought of giving his name and rank to the fae, but decided it did not matter. Why was he going to try and flaunt such a blessing? His shoulders rolled once more as his paws carried him a few steps closer to the femme, "So what do you call yourself, my lady?" his voice was formal, polite; yet underneath there was a dark undertone. And it was not necessarily evil.
Polaris craned her head back to see a worn looking Rasalas come walking up, [i[ Great yet another wolf who thinks I'm nothing more than a fool,[/i[ she thought to herself, one little slip and your automatically downgraded. Hey you don't know if thats how Rasalas! she scolded her self for her earlier false accusation. The past days had been filled with chaos, though she mostly kept to herself. The fae lowered her head but kept her ears in an upwards manner trying to be polite to her beta. The smiled her pearly incisors clicked together. "Ello there Rasalas she had caught his name at the gathering earlier. Rasalas stopped next to her calling her 'miss nameless femme' it took her all she had not to chuckle, but she cracked a small smile again. "You can call me Polaris," she said and lowered her self onto her haunches. The air was a bit cooler than normal, or at-least as cool as a desert can get. "Sorry about my abrupt entrance the other day," the femme dipped her head a bit embarrassed.
Polaris caught her self examining Rasalas. He looked to be your typical Beta, proud posture, well defined, and he seemed pretty level headed. Her mind drifted to her own posture, hers was that of a warrior, broad shoulders, tail level, as if she didn't have any other care in the world. Polaris raked her brunt red tail across the dirt scooting little balls of grit and mud off to the side. She wasn't sure what to say, she hadn't really talked to him much really not hardly at all. "So your a beta? the femme said it more as a statement than a question, "Thats gotta be cool," she continued. Polaris could never handle being a beta, too much stress. However she had been eyeing the lead warrior position ever since she joined. The sun sat high in the sky illuminating there red coats. It was obvious he was a red wolf as well, Polaris wanted to know more about this brute. At the moment he seemed stressed, exactly the reason she could never be beta, maybe she could take his mind off whatever it was that was stressing him out. "So what's your story? he asked in a cheery mood her auds and orbs focused on the brute. Polaris could understand why he wouldn't want to answer so she broke the ice, "Here I'll start," her tone was chipper and lively this was on of her few "Good day!" moods.
Polaris wasn't one for back stories but she knew at least someone in the pack might as well know her history. I have 3 brothers all are on their own somewhere out there. My mom was a total hore and cheated on my 'father'. My father stayed with her because he said he loved her, another lie. I didn't know about my moms going ons until my elder brother found out. I got mad at her, met a wolf named Ash, so yaa... she paused regained her thoughts she really didn't want to go into the Ash part very much, "Pretty much me and Ash ran off together mad some poor choices came back was shoved to Omega. Me and Ash went on a hunt, he was killed by a loner. I spiraled into a depression, still in it, she said the last part in a mumbled whisper, "I ran off from my pack the humans captured me nursed me to health my had my dead pups. Spent a ton of time training and was shipped here then found Ryala. That's my life in a nut shell" she said exhausted from her long ongoing speak. She raked her tail and shifted nervously.
Muse: Really good. Words: Six hundred twenty-four OCC:
The brute's yellow eyes observed the female, not intentionally trying to judge her any more than he already had. She seemed nervous, that was something that could not be denied and it was proven by her apology. The brute smirked slightly, "It is not an issue, Polaris," his tone was rather smooth in an attempt to even out the hurricane of thoughts whirling throughout him. 'Everyone does strange things sometimes, no reason for them to haunt her.' Scanning the terrain briefly before permitting his eyes to focus back upon her, the brute spoke again, "I believe we were just a bit startled; that is all." The Beta's conversational skills were lagging a bit today, perhaps forced interaction with the pack was what he needed. He was a bit startled that she had remembered his name, yet it was flattering either way. Rasalas was not used to being a figure of such importance.
The brute arched his back casually, bored and frustrated with the situations that had consumed the past few days of his life. It was strange for the Beta to be in a mood such as the one that was consuming him today, it was not necessarily dark, but a bit more sarcastic than usual. It was the red brute's natural defense against stressors and upsetting situations, he simply turned a bit colder than usual. Polaris was no wolf that he had a desire to be especially friendly with though, he did not need to be bubbly and chipper. That personality could happily belong to her; yet, he would abuse the conversation in order to entertain himself. It would keep his mind from growing more angry.
At last, the femme had commented upon his status. Another chortle passed through him, 'So strange being the authority of another.' Auds quivered for a moment before the brute mustered a response. "Indeed," his response was brief, spoken quick, "It is a great honor to be Our Lady's beta." His head nodded slightly. The brute took a few steps closer to the femme before reclining to his haunches. He preferred to be able to speak quieter rather than ecstatically announce their conversation to the world, and he was intrigued to see what the female's reaction would be. A few ideas danced across his skull, making a slight grin apparent in his features. Perhaps the brute was being a bit more cynical than usual, but it was not with any ill intentions. Simply, he needed a way to get rid of the strange feelings that were growing within himself. This was his decision on the best way to do it.
Casually the brute listened to her conversation, his mind zoning in and out; yet he still managed to capture all of the female's words. She seemed to have had quite a lot occur in her young life and much of that to be tragedy as well. Rasalas found that he felt sad for few creatures, as his own life had been consumed with pain and sorrow as well. However, he put on a sympathetic look on his features, and cast Polaris a rather sorrowful gaze. "I am quite sorry, those are some rather difficult circumstances," Rasalas shook his crania slowly, as if attempting to push her depressing story from his mind. Perhaps the brute would have nuzzled the femme if Aries had never existed to him; Alas! He could not think of touching even a single hair on another creature unless it was her.
'So now it is my turn? She wishes to know my story?' The brute respected her boldness in inquiring about his life, yet he knew that she would not be getting his whole story. Not today. Rasalas understood that he could not predict the future, and maybe one day the female would learn more about him, but today he was sticking with the basics. Groaning a bit the brute began, "I was born on these lands, I used to care for my two younger sisters. But, they disappeared not too long ago. I am still on the search for them." His posture was quite stiff, along with his tone. The brute did not mean to come off as rude, the subject was just one which caused agony to shoot through him. He despised not knowing where his siblings were.

Polaris listened to the brute's story obviously he didn't want to tell her everything, the fae respected that wish and let it go. The femme appreciated that he cared enough to acknowledge her problems though she was glad he didn't try to apologize for her past like some people did when they werent the ones who caused it. She pawed at the ground raking the sandy red dirt back and forth leaving shallow marks in within it. "I've yet to find my spot within the pack, perhaps you could help me find it?" The fae honestly was happy anywhere but she had, had her eye on Lead Warrior. The femme was qualified for it, her muscles alone proved her threatening enough.
The fae had spent the past year, since Ash's death, training. Just training. This tended to get her into a lot of trouble. Polaris often would get in fights with loner's just for the fun of it only to beat them within an inch of their life. The fae would run and trot for several miles to build up endurance though that was always her weak spot, endurance.
"I'd be fine with any rank but I'd like to be some type of warrior," she said optimistically her tail high and eyes bright. She wasn't sure if in this pack the Beta had the power to give rank or not, but she didn't really care at the least Rasalas could put in a good word. Polaris dipped her head in a bit the wind buffering against her face stopping the sand from hitting her in the face. Rasalas was fine since he was faced the other direction. Polaris loved the desert but sometimes she wished it wasn't so deserty.
Rasalas seemed pretty cool, it was nice that he wasn't like some betas and completely ignores the lower ranks of the pack. She didn't really know much about him but she hoped they could maybe become friends. Muse: Awful! Awful awful awful Words: Three hundred twenty-six OCC: Super short and not very good
