Goliath Tigerfish

Description: Very large, predatory fish that lives in the warmer, more turbulent waters of the Aughgar River. They feed on smaller fish, though they aren’t afraid to take on crocodiles or an animal that ventures too deep into the water.
Tilapia

Description: Small, harmless fish that live in medium schools in the Aughgar River. They feed mostly on algae and zooplankton.
Livingston’s Cichlid (also called “Kalingono”)

Habits: Medium-sized schools
Description: Small fish that live in the upper portion of the Aughgar River. They have the ability to “play dead” in order to hunt for prey. Males are also polygamous.
Syndontis
Size: Small to Medium

Habits: Medium-sized schools
Description: Small- to medium-sized catfish that live in the deeper portions of the Aughgar River. These fish are covered in spotted markings. They have a tendency to swim belly-up, giving them the nickname upside-down catfish, and also make squeaking noises when handled, giving them another nickname “squeakers”.
Lungfish
Size: Large (up to four feet in length)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Large, eel-like fish that live in the shallow waters of the Aughgar River. They are quite solitary due to the fact that they are cannibalistic. During breeding season (late winter) the male builds a nest and protects the young until they are large enough to fend for themselves.
Giant Snakehead
Size: Medium (up to three feet in length)
Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer
Habits: Mating pairs
Description: Medium-sized fish that thrive in the Aughgar River. They live in breeding pairs and are known to be very protective of their young. They can survive without water for a length of time, due to a primitive lung behind the gills (mostly in mud or swamps).
Crocodile
Size: Large (can reach up to thirteen feet in length)
Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer, Ina'mos
Habits: Small groups (called floats)
Description: Large reptile that lives both in the Aughgar River as well as on its banks. While its main diet is fish that live in the river, they are known to attack prey that ventures too far into the water. Crocodile eggs provide a good meal for wolves, though it is extremely risky for one to attempt thievery.
Bullfrog
Size: Small (males are around nine inches; females are much smaller)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Small, aggressive amphibian that lives in the warmer climates of Anikira, along the banks of the Aughgar River and the Turxos Creek. They are capable of eating small rodents and reptiles, as well as other amphibians. They bite when provoked.
River Frog
Size: Small (females reach up to four inches in length (snout to vent); males are smaller)

Habits: Small groups (called “armies” lol)
Description: Small frog that lives in the Aughgar River as well as the Turxos Creek. They eat mostly insects, but are known to be cannibalistic. They are extremely quick to frighten, therefore will require skill for a wolf to catch them.
Clawed Frog (also called “Platanna”)
Size: Small (females reach up to five inches in length (snout to vent); males are smaller)

Habits: Groups (called “armies”)
Description: Small, completely aquatic frog. They are tooth- and tongue-less, and cannot survive out of the water. They will eat just about anything they can find in the water, living or not.
Tree Frog
Size: Tiny (only about an inch in size)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Tiny frog that thrives in areas nearest the Aughgar River and Turxos Creek. They live in trees, as the name suggests, though they venture to the water to lay their eggs. They eat insects.
Monitor
Size: Large (up to nine feet in length)
Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer
Habits: Solitary
Description: Large lizard that is mostly aquatic, but are fast runners on land and are capable of climbing trees. They mostly prey on fish, frogs, juvenile crocodiles and eggs, snakes, small birds, small mammals, and insects, as well as whatever carrion they can find. They can injure a wolf, but it is unlikely that they could kill one.
Agama
Size: Small (up to a foot in length)
Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer
Habits: Male-dominated territories
Description: Small lizard that is adapted to the heat of the Occasus, as well as the rocky terrain of Xisyn and the plains of I’queyer. They are polygamous, in that males will breed with any female in his territory while driving males out. They eat only insects.
Sand Gecko
Size: Small (about three inches in length)
Found in: The Occasus
Habits: Mostly solitary
Description: Light-skinned gecko that is adapted solely for the Sands. They spend days in burrows or caves, venturing out to the sands when the temperatures cool. They cannot climb smooth surfaces, but can dig through them if needed. They eat insects.
Spurred Tortoise
Size: Medium (between two and three feet in length)
Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn
Habits: Solitary
Description: Tortoise named after the spur-like scales that decorate their legs. They thrive in warmer climates (especially the Sands). They are herbivores, but they will sometimes eat fruit (if it can be found). They only come together during breeding season.
Leopard Tortoise
Size: Medium (nearly two feet in length)
Found in: Xisyn, I’queyer
Habits: Solitary
Description: Highly passive tortoise that lives mostly in the Boulders and the Plains. When threatened, they will retract their head and legs (which produces an intimidating hissing noise as the air is pushed from the lungs) waiting out the predator. They are herbivores.
Sand Viper
Size: Small (about fourteen inches in length)
Found in: The Occasus
Habits: Solitary
Description: Venomous snake that thrives solely in the Sands. Females are usually larger than the males. They blend in very well with the sand, striking at unsuspecting victims before they can even see the snake.
Rock Python
Size: Huge (can reach up to twenty feet in length)
Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer
Habits: Solitary
Description: Very large snake that thrives near the banks of the Aughgar River. They eat smaller game (rabbits, large rodents) as well as medium-sized game (antelope, small deer, monitor lizards), though they are capable of consuming a small wolf. Females will protect a clutch of eggs for over three months, without leaving them for sustenance.
Black Mamba
Size: Large (between eight and ten feet in length)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Large, venomous snake that lives in various terrains (plains, rocky areas, woodlands, swamps). They are the fastest snake in the world, capable of reaching speeds of up to twelve miles an hour, though for only short spurts. Their venom can easily kill a large predatory, though they usually don’t attack unprovoked. Fun fact: They are named after the color of the inside of their mouths, not their scale color.
Viper
Size: Medium (up to three feet in length)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Medium-sized venomous snake that prefers the Plains or the Boulders. They are, for the most part, non-aggressive and prefer to back away from a fight, though they will attack when provoked. They are extremely venomous.
Scorpion
Size: Tiny (roughly ten centimeters in length)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Small arachnids with a venomous tail and a pair of strong grasping claws. Those that thrive in the Sands do not burrow during sandstorms, though they will burrow to avoid confrontation. When provoked, they will attack. The venom in their tail can be extremely potent.
Pronghorn
Size: Large (4-5 ft long, 30-40 inches to shoulder)

Habits: Large herd, adult males are solitary during the warmer months
Description: Even-toed ungulate closely resembling the antelope. Males have larger horns than females, but both sexes are reddish brown with a white belly and white stripes across the throat. When startled they raise their tails as a warning to others in their herd. They have 320 degree vision and can run at speeds of up to 90km/h.
Red-necked Wallaby
Size: Medium (2-3 ft long / tall)
Found In: Kamari
Habits: Mainly solitary, but can sometimes be found in small groups while feeding
Description: Grey furred marsupial with a paler underside and a reddish tinge across the neck, related to the kangaroo. They feed on grass and herbs and prefer areas with moderate shrub cover or open woodland. They are crepuscular, resting hidden for the majority of the day.
Cougar
Size: Large (6.5-8 ft long, 25-30 inches to shoulder)

Habits: Solitary
Description: Large powerful cat with tawny grey fur and a pale underside, mostly active at dawn and dusk. They prey on animals including deer, elk, moose and sheep and will sometimes steal from and/or kill lone wolves. They typically have two to three young and are very protective of their offspring.
Prairie Dog
Size: Small (10-15 inches long)

Habits: Large family group
Description: A type of ground squirrel found in open grassland. They are active in daylight and are herbivorous, mainly feeding on grasses, roots and seeds. They live in underground burrow systems, disappearing into these when a predator is spotted.
Ostrich
Size: Large (140-320 lbs, Up to 9 ft)

Habits: Solitary or in breeding pairs
Description: The ostrich is the world’s fastest two-legged animal. When being pursued by a predator, they have been known to reach speeds in excess of 70 km/h (43 mph), and can maintain a steady speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). With their acute eyesight and hearing, ostriches can sense predators from far away.

Description: A slender and agile mustelid with reddish-brown fur and a white underside. They commonly prey on birds and small mammals such as rats, mice, rabbits and voles and are found in a wide variety of habitats including forests, woodlands, mountains and grasslands.
Quoll

Habits: Solitary
Description: The quoll is a marsupial that lives in nearly every region on Anikira. It has thick, soft gray-brown to black fur with white spots, and a hairy tail. It is a nocturnal carnivore, mostly preying on insects and small mammals, sometimes scavenging carrion. They have distinct dens which they retreat to during the day, usually in hollow logs, vacant burrows, or rock piles.
Grant’s Gazelle
Size: Medium (100-145 lbs, 30-36 in.)

Habits: Territorial, male-led herds
Description: Grant's gazelles resemble Thomson's gazelles but are noticeably large. The Grant’s gazelle tends to vary its diet according to season. They are migratory animals, but travel in the opposite direction of most of the other ungulates, such as Thomson's gazelles, zebras, and wildebeest, which are more water dependent. They can subsist on vegetation in waterless, semiarid areas, where they face little competition.
Diamondback Rattlesnake
Size: Medium (3-6 ft long)

Habits: Solitary
Description: A highly venemous snake with a grey, brown or olive coloured diamond pattern along its back and a segmented rattle at the end of its tail. This rattle is used to warn predators of the snake’s presence. They are found in grassland and desert, but also on rocky mountain slopes. They feed on small mammals, birds and lizards but can kill larger animals such as wolves if provoked.
Coral snake
Size: Medium (2-5 ft long)

Habits: Solitary
Description: A highly venemous snake with bright red, black and yellow bands. The neurotoxin in their venom paralyses the respiratory system and death can occur within hours, but they have small fangs and are not typically aggressive unless provoked. They can be found in woodland and sandy areas, but spend a lot of their time underground. They feed mostly on small mammals, birds, lizards and other snakes. Their eggs can be found in summer, usually 5-10 per clutch, buried under rocks or rotting vegetation.
Springhare
Size: Tiny (6-8 pounds)

Habits: Solitary, various sized groups/herds, etc.
Description: These rodents are generally nocturnal and sleep through the day in burrows they dig. They feed on foliage, roots and other vegetable matter. Outside the burrow they usually move around by hopping on their hind legs. Springhares are found locally in the semiarid areas. Their distribution is scattered and limited to open areas free of rocks and large bushes (which would interfere with their leaping) and with sandy soil.
Greater Kudu
Size: Huge (420-600 lbs, 55 inches at shoulder)

Habits: Solitary, though females join together during mating season with their calves
Description: Both the greater kudu and its close cousin, the lesser kudu, have stripes and spots on the body. Males have long, spiral horns, which can grow as long as 72 inches. Wounded bulls have been known to charge the attacker, hitting the attacker with their sturdy horn base rather than stabbing it. They are great kickers and are capable of breaking a wolf’s neck or back.
Gerenuk
Size: Medium (80-115 lbs, 35 in)

Habits: Solitary, or in various sized groups/herds
Description: A gerenuk can go its whole life without drinking water. This gazelle’s long neck helps it reach and feed on leaves other antelope can’t reach. They stand upright on their hind legs to reach even higher. If a gerenuk is alarmed, it makes a buzzing sound with its mouth to warn the others. They also whistle when annoyed and make a loud bleating sound when they are in extreme danger.
Milksnake
Size: Medium (1-6 ft long)

Habits: Solitary
Description: A non-venemous snake harmless to wolves with bright red, black and yellow bands, very similar in colouring to the coral snake. They can be found in woodland, grassland, and sandy areas. They feed mostly on small mammals, birds, lizards and other snakes.Their eggs can be found in summer, usually around 10 per clutch, buried under rocks or rotting vegetation.
Aardvark
Size: Medium (5-6ft long, 150lbs)

Habits: Solitary
Description: A common animal, the aardvark is shy and nocturnal. Aardvarks live in deserts, open grasslands, woodlands, and scrubby chaparral areas. They are a burrowing insectivore, with large, tough claws. It also sports a long, narrow snout, a long tongue, and very sticky saliva, which it uses to catch ants and termites, the mainstay of its diet. However, they have a good sense of smell and hearing, and will often quickly bury themselves to escape predators.
Chital Deer
Size: Medium (35 inches high, 55-165 lbs)

Habits: Herds of 10 to 50 individuals
Description: The chital's coat is pinkish fawn, marked with white spots. The males' antlers are usually three-pronged and shed annually. In their herds, large dominant stags without velvet stay in the center of the herd and are surrounded by the females and their young. They aare generally silent when grazing together.
Musk Deer
Size: Small (22-26 inches high, 30-40lbs)

Habits: Solitary to small groups (no more than 3)
Description: The Musk Deer is known for its kangaroo-like face, protruding tusks that grow throughout the deer’s life, and the male's musk glands, which produce an odor that is foul to wolves. It is mostly nocturnal, resting in undergrowth during the day. It feeds primarily on lichen, and has a very small homerange, its summer and winter feeding grounds often very near to one another.
Collared Peccary or Javelina
Size: Small/Medium (22in at the shoulder, 31-60lbs)
Found In: Ina'mos, Vor'asa, I'queyer, The Occasus
Habits: Small herds (15-20 animals)
Description: Peccaries are a pig-like animal that lives in deserts, chaparrals, and rainforests. Though it is an herbivore, it has razor-like canine teeth that can be used in defense- though it is fast, reaching speeds of 21mph (35 km/h). It has an excellent sense of smell, and it is most active at dawn and dusk; they rest during the hottest part of the day. Peccaries mark territories with a skunk-like odor which is detectable from hundreds of feet away.
Oryx
Size: Large (250-390 lbs, 47 inches at shoulder)

Habits: Large herds
Description: Oryx prefer near-desert conditions and can survive without water for long periods. Newborn calves are able to run with the herd immediately after birth. Both males and females possess permanent horns. The horns can be lethal to predators. They move in small, mixed groups or large herds of up to 100 or more, searching for water and browsing or grazing on grasses and other vegetation.
Tapir
Size: Large (3ft at the shoulder, 600lbs)

Habits: Solitary or in pairs
Description: The Tapir is a very shy, hoofed mammal with a long, rubbery nose that forms a small trunk. Although tapirs are land animals living in swamps, rainforests, and grassland, they spend a lot time in water and mud, as they are excellent swimmers. The young look like brown watermelons with legs; they are light brown with white stripes and dots. Tapir can be elusive, but they are relatively easy kills despite their size, and are worth the haul as they have enough bulk to feed a small pack.
Capybara
Size: Medium (40-52 inches long, 60 to 100 pounds)

Habits: Groups up to 20 animals
Description: This rodent is the largest in the world. It is a semiaquatic herbivore and spends most of its life wallowing in mud in swamps, marshes, and forested areas. When in danger, the Capybara will move to the water as it is a very strong swimmer. It is typically hunted by high-tier predators like big cats, harpy eagles, and large snakes.
Anaconda (or Water Boa)
Size: Large (up to 37ft long)
Found In: Ina'mos
Habits: Solitary
Description: The Anaconda is the largest living snake on earth. Having no fangs, it is a member of the constrictor family, and can easily suffocate a small wolf. Anacondas are greenish-brown with a double row of black oval spots on the back and smaller white markings on the sides. They get the name "Water Boa" because they are strong swimmers, and will often drown their prey. These dangerous predators have been known to eat deer and alligator, though they can go weeks between feedings. They give birth to 20-30 live young who are almost instantly able to care for themselves, making them a much more manageable snack to a daring wolf.
Okapi
Size: Large (5ft at the shoulder, 450-550lbs)

Habits: Solitary
Description: The Okapi is a giraffe-like herbivore that is mostly nocturnal. It has a long, sticky tongue which it uses to get leaves and for grooming, and can even lick its own eyes with its tongue. It spits up a partially digested cud, which it chews similar to cows. While it is non-aggressive and makes for a hearty meal for a pack, it has a powerful kick with its hind legs that a wolf would be wise to avoid.
Weka
Size: Small (15-25 inches long)

Habits: Solitary
Description: A flightless bird of the rail family found in forests and grassland. They are brown with black speckles. They mostly feed on invertebrates and grass but sometimes eat mice and small birds. They lay around 4 eggs at a time in a nest hidden on the ground amongst dense vegetation. Most are bold and curious. Their sharp beaks can be used as weapons and they have powerful legs.
Moa
Size: Large (6-7 ft to shoulder)
Found In: Kal'dyne, R'imdar, Vor'asa
Habits: Small group
Description: A huge flightless bird surviving only on Tas'alea. Their main predator is the Haast’s Eagle and they can only be taken down by several wolves working together. They live in forest and grassland and are herbivorous, although when provoked they can be very dangerous.
Haast’s Eagle
Size: Large (4-5 ft long, 2-3 ft tall)
Found In: Kal'dyne, R'imdar, Vor'asa
Habits: Solitary
Description: A huge eagle surviving only on Tas'alea. They have very powerful talons and a large sharp beak and can fly at speeds of up to 80km/h. They prey mostly on moa but may take down other large animals such as deer and even lone wolves.
Bengal Tiger
Size: Large (10-12 ft long, 3-4 ft tall)
Found In: Kal'dyne, R'imdar
Habits: Solitary
Description: A large, solitary cat with the strength to break even the strongest of wolves. They are predatory in nature and will attack weakened opponents without cause. They are native to Waryk Jungle but have been seen wandering up near the Geysers of Nysm.
