Chaika lifted his skinny body from the curled position he had slept in, his flexing muscles were easily visible through his skin and pelt. He desperately needed to gain weight, winter felt much more bitter to a wolf with less fat on him. No, the brute did not intend on becoming overweight, but he could not stay like this. Through his coat, his ribs were nearly visible, and his stomach was smaller than most. He stretched his stiff muscles, his paws grasping the rocky ground of the den he had been resting in. When he finished his stretch, he shook his pelt in an attempt to wake him up from his sluggish mode. It worked well enough, he was in a wonderful mood, he had just recently been accepted into Amar, and he was excited to begin his new life here. He stepped outside of the den's protective walls, the winds had picked up and ruffled his fur as he emerged from the entrance.
It had stopped raining, but now snow floated down to the moist ground, collecting in a thin blanket of white. He padded carefully down the mountain, paying close attention to his footing on the potentially slippery surface. Once he reached the bottom, the Timber brute lifted his head to stare up at the flakes that were falling from the sky. The specks fell onto Chaika's nose, melting in a matter of seconds from the warmth of his skin. The brute loved snow, he only wished that snow did not have to haul along the freezing rain and winds. He trotted to the coverage of the forest, his legs were now speckled with snow, as well as his back. Underneath the trees branches, the wind had lessened and the trees managed to block out some of the falling snow. The brute felt the mossy ground beneath his paws, chilly water seeped onto his paws when he stepped onto it. He wondered if he would cross paths with another member of Amar. So far, he had only met Kiddo, and he was looking forward to speaking with the others, hopefully picking up a few friends from the bunch.
He was wandering aimlessly through the trees, he wanted more to get a bit of exercise from exploring his new home rather than be limited to the Kinath where he had remained since Kiddo accepted him into Amar. He finally began to feel wide awake, he was generally a slow wolf when it came to waking up in the morning. Being more alert caused Chaika to notice a large rabbit out of the corner of his eye. He stopped in his tracks, lowering close to the ground. He had been quick to react and had not startled the rabbit one bit. Remaining low enough to the ground that the fur on his belly touched the forest floor, he slowly crept closer to the animal. He was downwind of the fluffy thing, so he went completely unnoticed. When he was close enough to easily pounce, his muscled tensed and he awaited the perfect moment.
'One, two, three...'
When the time came, he launched himself through the air, landing with his front paws on top of the rabbit, nearly crushing it. He grasped the rabbit behind its ears in his teeth and quickly snapped its neck. He licked his lips, tasting the small amount of blood from the kill. It was warm and sticky, and had a bit of a salty taste. He lifted the now lifeless body from its shoulder area and placed it carefully between two small rocks. He covered it using a few branches, deciding to save it for when he made his way back to the dens after his little outing. He wasn't worried about any wolf of Amar to steal his prey, though he wouldn't mind if they did. His stomach was not currently demanding anything, but the brute assumed he would begin feeling hunger later on. He continued walking, now in an even better mood after his little victory.
He hoped to run into another wolf, he was a fairly social wolf and could not stand going too long without any interaction between another wolf. The brute needed some friends in The Oriens, and he wasn't going to accomplish this without wandering about the territory every now and then. He was not sure exactly where he was, but he was still within the forest and he knew what path to take if he needed to return to the dens. 'If I'm lucky enough to find a friend on this little venture, I will offer to share my prey.' He always enjoyed a nice conversation while sharing a nice meal. The rabbit he had caught was quite large and he wasn't the type of wolf to stuff himself when he wasn't too hungry. He wanted to finish it up today while it was fresh, so sharing was the best option. It wasn't mandatory, but it would be nice.
