how long had it been? time had passed like the swift river basin over the round pebbles that kept it upon its course. unlike the ocean, the river went in one direction. it had a destination and at the end it met with the wide ocean in an embrace that was impossible to match. the salty sea breeze overwhelmed the fresh water of the rivers as it cascaded over the edges of the rocky cliffs. it was a beautiful sight as the sun caught the droplets of water, glinting through them and turning them into a shower of multiple colors. the sun seemed to have that effect upon any amount of water as it flew through the air, spreading as though ice had shattered in mid-drop. nature managed to do stunning thing whenever it had the opportune moment. time seemed to be one of the things it was connected to. something completely untouched by the human race seemed to preserve itself within time forever. it was like a picture had been captured in motion, refusing to fade.
spirit sighed, trying to focus more on the scent of the ocean that stretched so vastly in front of her rather than the lingering smells of her mother and her father. she had left their bodies nearby, not quite ready to push them into the ocean just yet. it would be a proper burial for them both, something she would provide for them even in the afterlife. her mother had been on her side the entire time, something she had thanked her so deeply for, but she had never wanted to watch her die on her behalf. her father had killed her mother right in front of her, only because her mother had shielded her in the last moments. she had seized the opportunity to tear the male's throat apart. it had been the only thing she was capable of doing to save herself from the other three. since she had killed the alpha, she became the alpha, but gave the position to one of the others and sent them away, back to their rightful home. their scent was minute in comparison to the death beside her.
the female finally turned to face her dead parents, what was left of her family. starting with her father, she grasped his dark pelt by the scruff and dragged him to the edge. she had always looked so much like him in every way, even the fact that she was over-sized even for a female of her species. the black fur, the white tinges here and there, and even her sheer bulk. some of her facial expressions she received from this male, as unlikely as it seemed. she pushed the somewhat memorable thoughts from her mind and nudged his body over the edge of the cliff. she didn't pause to watch it crash down into the water or to listen to the bones crack on the way. while at one time she had loved the male, she couldn't stand even the sight of his dead body now. he was her father, that much she couldn't deny, ever. it was something she could put behind her now that his life was no longer there, but it was something that would always remain.
spirit paced to the body of her beloved mother and shoved her nose into her fur, drinking in the familiar scent that she had clung to for so many years. though she had inherited so many things from her father, but also from her mother. the personality the female had was no doubt from the femme who laid dead at her feet. a bit of a spitfire at times, but collected and a true warrior for the sake of protecting the ones that she so desperately loved. her pack was important to her. she also inherited those beautiful golden eyes she loved so much from her mother. with a final sigh, she took her mother to the edge, gently nudging her over as well. she closed her eyes tightly and waited to hear the tell-tale splash of the body hitting the water. when she opened her eyes, she watched the waves carry her beloved mother farther from her. filled with renewal, she threw her head back and let out a longing howl. sorrow and pain rested there, but also determination. it was time to go home, though she was so far from it.
