Even in the middle of winter, Caurus was the most beautiful place in all of Anikira. No. In all the world. And it all belonged to Gemini now. The princess to the Lyrith pack lived almost entirely alone. Loners wandered around the territory from time to time, but Gemini took it upon herself to run them out. Nobody was allowed to enter her kingdom without getting her fangs in their ass. Unless they had a good reason. Which they never did. All they wanted was to steal her land and her food, and she couldn’t allow that. This was her kingdom.
The young Apennine female trotted through the fields known as the Shydar. It was a gorgeous sight of red plumage during the spring, and had once been her family’s favorite place to relax during the warmer seasons. Now, it was desolate flatland of white, broken only by the occasional iced-over brook, and Gemini’s own footprints. But it didn’t matter if it was the ugliest patch of land to look at. It was part of Caurus, part of the Lyrith kingdom. Therefore, even at its ugliest, it was still more beautiful than any land on the entire continent.
Before long, the young femme was standing at the top of a small hill, overlooking her vast kingdom. A light wind ruffled her thickened fur, bringing with it a chilling air. Gem wasn’t quite suited for the frigid northern temperatures, and would definitely thrive better in a warmer climate, but why would she ever leave this place? It was her home, her kingdom, her throne. She saw no benefit to leaving the territory, not even to chase down game. If they got to the border, she simply let them go, much to her stomach’s disappointment. But there was no reason to chase a silly rabbit into Shiya. She would just catch one of her own rabbits.
Golden orbs scanned the terra, ears twitching at the slightest sound. It had been quiet for some time now. Most trespassers had migrated south for the winter. Like little birds. While it made Gem’s task of patrolling the nonexistent borders that much easier, it did make her just a little bit lonely. Sin had been gone for some time now (though why he left in the first place, she wasn’t entirely sure), and none of the loners knew enough about Lyrith to become her friends. The young wolf often attempted to make friends with the creatures that ran around her territory, but squirrels were awful companions, and the fawns often ran at the very sight of her. Maybe one day she would make a true friend.
Some day...
