Angel’s eyes shot open, a pair of crystal blue sapphires in the darkness. She was alone in the small den... No one was there, not even her pups. She was completely and utterly alone. A whine escaped the white femme’s maw as the wave of intense emotion washed through her – so intense that it drove her to her paws and out of her den despite the late hour of the night. The white female began pacing, brow furrowed with confusion and pain at the sudden ache in her heart.
Why did nobody want to be with her? Surely she wasn’t that bad, was she? All of the doubts which were usually locked away in the depths of her mind swirled to the forefront, until all she could see were the dismissive glances the other Descai wolves gave her and those subtle words directed at her and her offspring. She desperately needed someone, anyone, to tell her that she was loved, that she wasn’t merely the mother of the bastard pups of Descai. No one would though. That was the problem; no one in Descai cared one bit for the tundra hunter. Even Vorilye, the wolf famed for his multiple partners, had rejected her advances when they'd first met despite her obvious willingness to be his. What was wrong with her?
Angel dropped her head dejectedly, ears lying flat against her skull. She only wanted to be told that she was loved, that she was pretty, that she was valuable to someone. That was all she ever wanted. But apparently that was already too much to ask for. It seemed that every wolf in Descai thought of her as nothing but a useless burden. Well, if that was the case, she would have to go somewhere else! Anywhere else, to escape the loneliness that was tearing at her heart. Immediately, Angel abandoned her pacing and broke into a run, dashing in the general direction of the border to the loner lands, determined to leave Kamari and the cruel wolves within it behind.
Really, one would wonder what such an innocent looking lady was doing in a pack with such a vicious reputation anyway; Angel was the ultimate emblem of purity with her soft white fur and sparkling blue eyes. As she ran, her pelt flashed like frosted snow in the moonlight, fur thick and fluffy over her lithe figure as her long slim legs stretched out to race across the terrain.
Truly, she was not an unattractive wolfess, and plenty of males had in fact desired her before. Her memory, though, was not the best as a result of her peculiar mental condition, and when she felt an emotion in its extreme form, everything else went straight out of her mind. Tonight, it was clear that loneliness was in control, and her response to that was apparently to run as far away from the place that had caused it as possible. Which ended up not being very far at all – despite her physique being well-primed due to all the hunting she did for the pack her legs eventually ran out of energy somewhere in northern I’queyer, and the beautiful white femme slowed to a graceful walk, panting lightly from her exertion.
As Angel paused to finally look around at her surroundings, she spotted the wide entrance to what looked like a large cave. What was very odd though was the faint glow that appeared to be coming from inside – having nothing better to do, Angel crept forward to take a closer look, and upon entering she found that the source was a million tiny little lights dotted across the ceiling. She’d never seen such a beautiful place before, and despite the overwhelming loneliness from there being no-one to share the experience with, she felt a tiny bit of awe creep into her heart. “How absolutely lovely…” she sighed, her delicate feminine voice the only sound in the vast empty cavern. If only someone was here beside her – she would give anything in the world, anything at all, just for some company.
