A hulking form moved along the terrain. Light-hued paws padded softly. Kismet was a sight to see. It was mid-afternoon. The sun shone mightily, but it's rays were less powerful. The temperature was low, and leaves littered the forest floor. Winter was fast approaching; fall was passing. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Kismet's beautiful blue eyes glittered. A small smile lit up his handsome face. The day was beautiful, and Kismet was enjoying himself thoroughly. He never imagined the tragedy and hard events that were to occur that same day. He smiled, closing his eyes, and was still. A breeze swept through, gently ruffling his coat.
Kismet inhaled deeply. He caught a faint scent and, opening his eyes slowly, a smirk overcame his previous contented smile. Why not? It was such a perfect day, and Kismet's last meal had been quick and small. He never took down prey that was too large, but it would be much more fun to try his skills. They hadn't been tried since before Seth had come--that is to say, a long time. The thrill of the challenge tingled in his paws.
At first, he made a few sounds, a few mistakes. But quickly, his instinct and skill took over, and he became absolute stealth. He stalked his prey, quietly scouting the area around it to check for any of its family. Finding nothing to deter him, he slowly and carefully began to close in. When he was rather close, his audits picked up a small noise. However, he ignored it. The animal lifted its head quickly, turning in the direction of the tiny noise. And Kismet leapt. His jaws closed just south of the animal's jugular. Kismet instinctively grabbed onto the strong shoulders with his paws, digging his claws in, and lifted his head to bite once more. This time he was successful. The animal had jumped and tried to run at his initial attack, and now tried to put up a fight, kicking its legs sporadically. But it was useless, and very soon Kismet stood over the kill. The young buck's horns had not yet sprouted from his head, and Kismet knew that the elk meat would be tender because of how young it was.
After the animal lay dead, Kismet lifted his head. His jaw parted slightly to taste the air in the same moment that he scented it and his eyes ravaged the area. His ears were pricked for any noise. Another wolf had been here, coming upon the elk just as Kismet had been about to kill it. The male's eyes narrowed slightly, trying to pick out any shape. But he found none. Distrustingly, he closed his jaws around the elk's neck, and began to drag it away. It was slow going, but Kismet would not have another wolf try to steal his kill. He would defend it, but he did not wish to hurt anyone. Eventually, he saw a safe place to rest and eat: the Niall Caverns. He hurriedly dragged his kill into the caverns, going deep enough that any wolf that came close looking for the kill would assume that a group of wolves protected it. Finally, he sat down to rest a moment before he began to eat.
He ate the entire elk. It was young, and therefore smaller than a normal buck, and Kismet was ravenous. Now he would not have to worry about a meal for a time. When he finished, he pushed the carcass farther into the caverns before padding to the front. He lay down at the entrance to the caverns, but still inside. He looked back out to the scenery, still enjoying himself. He was full, and the beauty of the scenery almost lulled him to sleep. He lay there, half-asleep, when a sudden noise startled him to full awareness. Jumping up to his paws, Kismet looked around, ears pricked.
"Talking."
