Wet paws wadded through the pools of water. The silver-red male tiredly sauntered through the cool waters trying to find a dry place to sit for just a moment. This place tormented him so. With every splash he froze, stood strong and tall, and listened, his ears rotating like radar dishes. Water made so much noise. There is no way for the stud to identify a fish splashing to a stranger approaching.
His sleep has been inadequate for the last four days making poor Niklaus evermore jumpy. As he wadded he found a small cove and lifted his nose to sniff for strangers. Klaus closed his yellow eyes tightly as his nose caught a marvelous mouth watering scent. No wolves present, but something that could make his life slightly easier at this time. Niklaus slowly moved to the edge of the cove and with one leap caught the neck of a small deer in his maw.
Klaus quickly ate his fill of the deer. He kept his ears and nose active as he ate always listening for strangers. He soon left the carcass and continued out of the cove just incase another had smelled his kill. In this way he would not be in danger but his leftovers would be gone if not from another then from the incoming tide. Niklaus slowly wadded into a deep pool of water. When he had gotten to shoulder depth he quickly gave a scan of his surroundings. He took a deep breath and began to lower his face to the standing water. He paused and listened. Only the sound of running water graced his ears.
Niklaus gave another scan of the area knowing with what he was about to do would put him at a moment of weakness. With that he took a deep breath and plunged his face into the moonlit cool water. He lifted his head and as he began to shake the water off his face a figure was before him accompanied by the scent of a stranger.
