The moon shone bright on the snow-cloaked ground below, painting vast swaths of silver and white. Deep, full shadows mingled starkly with the pale moonlight- the bold kind, the kind that shadowed the unseen.
Sanris did not want to be unseen this night, however. He stalked proudly through the snow, head and tail high, in plain sight of anyone. He was giddy, oh yes, giddy, like a young pup on the first day the weather turns warm in spring. He was part of something. He was a pack wolf now, an Osani wolf. Osani. Just the name sent shivers up his spine; he had never felt so powerful, so in control. Before he new it, Sanris was running through the snow, leaping and bounding and just wasting time- had is paws ever been this light? Had this funny, buoyant feeling in his chest ever been there before? This shivering sensation running through his limbs was entirely new to him. Sanris threw his head back and howled, loudly and defiantly, not actually sending a message but simply enjoying making noise, hearing his own voice ring out boldly. The action carried his head and neck backward and suddenly with a muffled whump Sanris was laying on his back in the snow, paws in the air. His surprise was short-lived however; through the snow, he could hear tiny scratchings. Mice.
Suddenly an idea popped into his head. Sanris flipped over, grinning devilishly, and once again pressed an ear to the snow. He sat like that for a minute, before suddenly plunging his head into the snow and flinging it upward, tossing a small mouse into the air before catching it again in his jaws and swallowing. He played this game for a while after, not because he was hungry; but the feeling of tiny bones crunching between his jaws only added to the elation he could hardly contain.
