Heat. Intense sweltering heat. Bright colorful tall hot flames. Sounds of cracking and popping. Stumbling to her feet, dazed and confused, panting. Calling, whimpering, listening. Kiba. Running to her brother, running away, Kiba by her side. Calling again for her family, hoping, nothing. Trees falling, become separated, losing sight of her brother. Hesitating, looking back, contemplating if she should run back, die in her home. The scent of burnt fur, running again, breathing heavily. Finally breaking the tree line. Collapsing in the cool sand, breathing quickly, caughing, watching her home burn to the ground. Her heart breaking, thinking her family was dead. Darkness.
The night was cool, the moon full and bright, directly over head. Few dark clouds dotted the black sky and the wind howled through the trees. Few creatures were stirring so except for the sound of the wind, all was quiet. The pure white wolf lay asleep atop a small hill and the moon shone down on her like a natural spotlight. She whimpered and stirred in her restless slumber. She breathed quickly and shallow as her legs moved as if she was running even though she was, in reality, going nowhere. It was clear to tell something was bothering her though it was impossible to tell what that thing was.
Anima snapped awake, gasping for air as she sat up startled and shaking. That was the fifth time in the past week she'd had the same nightmare or flashback. It wasn't enough for the memories to haunt her every wakeful thought, they had to haunt her dreams as well. She didn't want to forget the aweful night her life came to a halt when she lost everything but she had hoped that she could at least put it behind her. However, judging by the fact that she only had two days of peaceful sleep out of the past seven, she knew it would be a long while before her subconscious let her move on.
She whimpered softly as her heart broke all over again for the millienth time. She wanted nothing more than to be able to sleep with her siblings again and to have her mother and uncle watching over them. Losing her home was one thing, that hurt but there was plenty of unclaimed lands they could move to and claim. Losing her entire family on the other hand killed her. She could stand losing her father like she did when he walked away but the rest of them....She howled depressingly into the night sky, letting her feelings reach the heavens, hoping that her family would hear her.
