History: Kiva was born on a cold winter morning along with her other five siblings. She was the third born, after her oldest brother Cato, and the second oldest, her sister Onya. She also had two younger sisters but she has no memories of them. Because of the bad snow storms that swept through her parents lands, her mother, Sasha knew that she would not be able to properly care for all six of her new born puppies so she did the only thing she could. She took her two youngest daughters and carried them out of the den, leaving them out in snow. Her actions broke her heart but she was a wolf, an alpha, who would do what it took to survive and raise healthy and strong puppies. Sasha knew from the beginning that she had given birth to very special and unique pups. Cato and Kiva both had crescent moon markings. Cato's was white, standing out against his black fur, and Kiva's was blue and went around her right eye. She had never seen anything like it before but she took it as a sign that they were destined for great things.
After her younger sisters were killed, Kiva became the runt of the litter and it definitely showed. Because of how bad the winter had been, there was little to no prey that the pack could bring her mother and that severely affected how much milk and nutrients she was able to produce. Cato always got fed first and was able to eat until he was full. Because of that, he was able to grow strong and healthy. Onya went second and was fed until she was mostly full. She didn't fall too far behind her brother in terms of strength and health. Kiva, however, only got fed what was left, however much her mom let her. She never really got to be strong, only average, and she was at least four inches shorter than her brother. She would become the omega in the pack because of the fact that she wasn't able to do as much as siblings. She wasn't treated badly though, just left out of several things.
As they grew up and months started to go by, their individual personalities started to take shape and they often kept the pack on their toes. Onya was wise, even from such a young age. She learned from watching and took things in quickly. She preferred to be with the adults and couldn't wait until she was grown. Cato was strong, dependent, and strong willed. He was a fighter and often picked fights with his siblings. Kiva was curious, usually getting herself into trouble when her curiosity got the best of her. She was a goody-two-shoes as called by her siblings because she always obeyed and did as she was told. When together, Kiva and Cato were major trouble makers. The fought and wrestled, pulled pranks on the rest of the pack, and would run off to go exploring. It was their shenanigans that would eventually lead to their first major life change.
They had snuck out to the river that was not too far away from their main territory. Kiva knew that as long as they were home before dark, their parents would be a little more forgiving, though still extremely mad as they had been getting into more and more trouble lately. She watched the sun and started to head back when she knew she should. However, Cato started making fun of her always listening and she was determined to prove him wrong. She ran the other way, suddenly forgetting about getting in trouble. By the time they made it home, it was hours past dark and both parents were waiting for them, snarling dangerously. Neither one liked the feeling they got and Cato warned his sister to stay behind him as he approached his father. However, it was clear his father had, had enough and a fight broke out between the two. Kiva moved to defend her brother and her mother turned on her. The fight between the four lasted for what seemed like ages before their parents stopped and told them to leave and never come back. Only a year old and already on their own, the siblings looked for a place to call their own.
Finally, the wolves settled on a decent sized clearing that was about an hour walk from their parents. The clearing was a slight hill and had a creek running horizontally from one side to the other at the bottom of the hill. It was full of fish and offered a place to bathe, drink, swim, and play. It was an easy way to get food if the wolves did not feel like leaving their home to hunt or if they were to sick to or unable to for one reason or another. At the top of the clearing stood a missive twisted tree and a decent size hole had been made into the base of the trunk. The shade that the tree offered was great and the area around the tree would become known as the alpha's resting place as it was not only cool and away from the sun but it allowed them to watch over the rest of the clearing. On the west side of the clearing was a massive boulder that the two wolves would use in the future to make important announcements and be seen above the rest of their family.
The next year went by slowly at first as the pups, now beginning to reach their full adulthood, adapted to survive on their own. They were not used to having to do everything on their own and it took several months for them to be an effective team and to learn how to look out for one another. They often survived off the fish they would catch in the creek because when they would hunt, they would have to hunt together, not yet ready to hunt successfully completely on their own. That meant they would have to leave their territory completely alone and could only travel a very short way so that they could still be somewhat alert to any intruders. It wasn't until they learned to take down fairly large prey by themselves that things started to calm down. While one would go on a hunt, the other would skirt the edges of their clearing to make sure that no strange wolves were in the area. They would take no chance of losing their land and, in November of their second birth year, they decided to form their own pack. Cato would be the alpha male, ruling with a strong yet gentle hand, and Kiva would of course be the alpha female. Sure, it was strange having a pack ran by siblings instead of mates but they knew they could make it work and the bond shared between the two allowed them to grow stronger.
Shortly after the siblings turned two, Kiva decided to go off on her own. She simply wanted to explore and to wander for a while. However, it would seem that destiny would have very different plans. She was walking with her head down, watching the ground as she became lost in her thoughts. She had traveled out of their territory and into loner lands. Out of no where, she felt herself run into something and when she came back to reality, she moved back embarrassed. The red wolf that stood in front of her chuckled lightly, his eyes dancing with amusement. He was slightly larger than her but smaller than Cato. He walked a circle around her, though she somehow didn't feel threatened. The words that he muttered quietly and the way he held himself gave him the look of a bad boy, not of a threat. Kiva was intrigued and didn't mind the fact that a wolf she had just met, just ran into, was trying to sweet talk her. In fact, she kind of liked it. The next several months were spent sneaking off from her brother to go visit the mysterious wolf who she had learned was named Jynx. They grew closer and closer until the male finally made the move he had been waiting for since the first time he saw her and mated with her.
Kiva was never sure how Cato didn't realize she was pregnant but she was thankful that he hadn't paid much attention. She wasn't worried that he would do something to her but instead what he would do to the wolf that knocked up his sister. He would find it suspicious that Kiva had kept the male away from their home and had to sneak out to go see him. He would not like him, at all, and she didn't want a fight to break out. One night, a few weeks before she was supposed to give birth, Kiva had hoped to sneak out of their home and to the den that her and her mate had picked out a week before. However, her brother had other plans. Evidently, he had noticed her sneaking out and bringing home the scent of a new male all over her. He had known the she was pregnant and that she would soon give birth. He hadn't said anything about it because he hoped his sister wouldn't keep such a thing from him. He was hurt that she had and he wasn't going to keep that from her. A verbal fight broke out between the two and he tried to stop her from going. She howled to let her mate know she would be late but when he howled back, Cato took off running towards him. Kiva followed after him but could no longer move half as fast as he could and ended up getting left behind. When she arrived at the den, Cato and Jynx were already circling each other, waiting for one to attack the other. Kiva pleaded with them to leave each other alone for the sake of the pups and to tolerate each other. They stood glaring at each other for several long moments before Cato finally backed off and told her that he would be back in a month's time.
Over the next two weeks, Kiva made herself at home in the cave they had chosen and tried to find the most comfortable sight for her to give birth. It was getting harder for her to move and Jynx began having to do all the hunting, as there was no way Kiva could have a successful hunt. Knowing that when she went into labor, he would not be allowed in the den for a few days, he started stocking the cave with various kills. He caught a few small does and several rabbits as well as a fox. He decided that, that was enough to last her and let her feed her pups the way she needed to while still remaining full and he placed them along the opposite wall of the cave. The day came and she knew it was time. Jynx tried to come in the cave after his morning hunt and she snarled at him to stay out. Instead of taking it personally, he listened to her and went to stand guard outside the cave. Her labor lasted only a few hours but she was still exhausted after it. However, she didn't care how tired she was, she nuzzled and cleaned her pups off, nudging them over to her to nurse. Two were silver like her, one was black like her brother, and the other was a solid white pup that reminded her of her mother. The next two weeks went by and the day arrived for Cato to come back and get everyone.
Sure enough, he returned mid afternoon. Kiva introduced his nieces and nephews to him and together, the three decided on their names. The two silver ones would be called Luna and Tsume. The black pup would be named Kiba, after his mother. Lastly, Kiva introduced the white wolf to him. She knew she would mean a lot to him and she wasn't wrong. Immediately Cato named her Anima, for the lively spirit he knew she would show. Kiva nodded, smiling at the bond she could already see forming between them. After all the pups were named, each of the adults took some and together walked back to their territory. The next few months were a blast for Kiva. Still a pup at heart, she had her puppies, her mate, and her brother to play with. She could be fun loving and down to earth nearly all the time but when the times called, her motherly instincts would kick in. She'd become protective, stern but not over bearing, she became a teacher and enjoyed teaching the pups everything they needed to know. She was perfectly balanced between friend and mother and she swore being a mother was what she enjoyed the most in life. She prayed this be far from her last litter.
When the pups were a year of age, their lives, as well as Kiva's, took a sharp turn. Jynx had grown tired of his mate being an alpha yet he being nothing more than a beta. He wanted the power that being an alpha would bring and he wanted to make her brother the omega. The frustration finally overflowed and he moved to challenge and attack the black alpha. The fight lasted for a long while and both wolves got hut but Cato eventually reigned supreme and banished the silver male from his lands with a fair warning that if he ever caught him around his land or his family, he would be sorry. After that incident, Kiva and Cato both knew that it was time to seriously start raising and training the pups. They chose Kiba, the first born and oldest son, and Anima, the second born and oldest daughter, to be the next alphas. Kiva took responsibility over Kiva and after denying his request to full raise Anima on his own, allowed Cato to take responsibility of training her. The next three years went by, some months slower than others, and were all about training and learning. Every day, Kiba and Anima were either taught something new or practiced what they had already learned. All four of the pups grew to be strong and smart but Anima and Kiba excelled in nearly everything they were taught and Kiva knew they would make amazing alphas one day.
One night, shortly after her pups turned four, something beyond terrible happened. Kiva woke up next to her brother and quickly realized they were surrounded in sky high flames. She quickly woke up her brother and together they had to jump through the flames, both getting burned in the process. Kiva wanted to go to her pups but the flames were too thick. She would have to settle for hoping that they were ok and that she would see them again. Cato had to keep making her run forward and refused to get in front of her for fear of leaving her behind. They were almost out of the fire and to safety when something tragic happened. She heard the crack and the sound of a tree falling but before she could push him out of the way, Kiva watched a burning tree come crashing down onto her brother. She could hear the sounds of his bones shattering and the utterly dreadful scream that came from him. She screamed for her brother to get up, to roll out from under it and she tried to push away the tree, not caring how badly she got burned. It soon became clear to her that she had two choices, leave him there to die from the tree or kill him herself and put him out of his misery. She told him that she had ever done and that she loved him dearly, then before she could talk herself out of it, locked her jaws around his neck and shook her head, ending his life. She screamed again and ran, as fast as she could away from the gruesome scene. Her fur was on fire and she could smell the scent of burning flesh but still she kept running. She didn't stop until she had ran into the ocean, the water putting out the fire. She was exhausted both mentally and physically but she continued. She swam fast and hard, never stopping, until she washed upon the lands of a strange new place. Her last thoughts before she blacked out was how she was murder, a killer, and how she no longer deserved to live. She officially really and truly hated herself
Personality: Kind, Intelligent, Versatile, Attractive. Before the fire and the death of her brother, Kiva was all of the above and more. She was protective an extreme degree, especially over her brother and at times, she was over bearing. She was very loyal and stuck by anyone and everyone that she cared for. Motherly is another word you could use to describe her. Even before having pups, Kiva looked out for those around her and always had their best intentions in mind. She loved being a mother, knowing how to balance being a friend and a parent. Since birth, Kiva has been curious about anything and everything and it has lead to her getting into trouble on multiple occasions. At times and depending on who she was around, Kiva could be flirtatious, enjoying the attention she received from various males. However, after her mate up and left her, she became just a bit more hesitant to trust any potential suitor. Kiva has always been both independent and dependent, knowing how to do things for herself and enjoying short periods of time to herself but still leaning on her older brother. She was an excellent hunter though she was modest of her skills. Outgoing and extremely competitive, she and her brother would turn every little thing they did into some sort of competition. She has never liked to submit and the only times she ever would was when she spared with her brother and, being stronger, he was able to force of her. Despite not liking to submit however, Kiva has always been disciplined and obedient and will do what is asked of her in most cases. Stubborn and strong willed, once she set her mind to something, she would follow through with it no matter the cost.
After the fire that destroyed her home and her family, Kiva became a completely different wolf. She now wanders aimlessly and what once you to be a dominating posture is a sad and defeated one. Her eyes no longer dance but seem hollow and lost. She rarely hunts anymore and instead scavenges off kills that others have made, eating only what she absolutely has to. Where as she once used to abhor getting her coat dirty, her fur is now matted and filthy. Instead of living for tomorrow, her mind is almost always in the past. She hates herself for murdering her brother and wishes she would die. Even if she was made to believe that what she did really did help him, she would still hate herself for not making him run ahead of her so that the tree fell on her instead. She has lost nearly thirty pounds and she is now nothing more than skin and bones. Her wishes of finding another mate, having several more litters of puppies, and living a fulfilling life have been washed the drain as the emotional pain she is in has swallowed her whole and she does not believe anyone would ever want such a pathetic wolf, let alone a killer.
