Hearing Summit's slightly shocked tone made Katari feel even more embarrassed about the whole situation, much to Ren's delight. Still, she didn't mind the feeling as much as she would have in front of someone other than those who were with her now. Besides, they were Ren's words, not hers that she had to repeat. In a way, she was glad that the two would get along; it wasn't often that the pair disagreed on strangers. Perhaps at first, with their different levels of friendliness to those they didn't know, but it would always even out in the long run. Katari couldn't imagine it any other way. Despite seeming so different, she and Ren were always on the same wavelength, which made it easy to get along with each other. Their silent conversations, the deep understanding, all of it was woven into their relationship, time sealing the bonds.
Katari relaxed a little as Summit's mind wandered back once again to the flowers. She didn't rush him, instead letting him admire their odd beauty. Although every part of nature was beautiful, she couldn't help but pick favorites. She truly admired the pink flowers that grew on fruit trees. They were both a reminder of winter and a promise of the summer yet to come. She hadn't seen them in a while; any plant that lived within the choking hands of the forest had to be hardier and less fragile than her flower. It was something she had in common with it. She knew this forest was not suited to be her home; it would drown her if she played at staying for too long. Ren had been her life raft so far, and now, with the hint of another doing the same, she felt that the edge of the forest was a silly fantasy, a concern that she had the luxury of pushing into the depth of her worries.
Giggles jingled across the forest as She watched Summit get pulled back into the hands of reality. "We were talking about spirits and flowers and water. All things beautiful, of course, even in such a depressing forest." Looking now over the huddled trees and thick underbrush, she could see how things would want to live there. Not her, obviously, but creatures more likely to hide and lurk, only seeing the sun in it's true glory when the canopy allowed it. She was utterly lost, but then again, she had been for the past couple of days. The only difference now was that she had made a friend. A super best friend, to be precise. She was glad about it, the sun trailing slowly across the sky, contemplating the idea of nightfall. She wondered if Summit would spend the night with them, then pushed the idea to the side. Not only was it a silly request to even think of, it also sent both warmth and nausea tumbling through her body. Not exactly the best combination, but she seemed to always have it around Summit.
"Ahh, yeah I suppose that would be a good idea. These trees made it nearly impossible to tell what time of day it is, but my guess is that it is somewhere around late afternoon. We wouldn't want to be stumbling through vines and roots in the dark, would we?" Her voice was light, but inside, the words held a lot more meaning. She didn't mind nighttime, and enjoyed looking up at the many colours of the sky as the sun descended, but she had seen the darkness that this forest wore during the time when the sun slept. It was nerve racking, even with Ren with her. She much preferred to be settled before the sun was. Still, she wanted to spend more time with Summit, and if he was planning on leaving once the stars claimed the sky, then she presumed it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to stay with him until such time, cozy beds be damned.
Another flurry of giggled poured out of her lips before she could stop them, then stuttering off into silence in an attempt at an apology. "Sorry. I shouldn't laugh. Are you okay?" She stepped towards him, through the settling cloud of agitated forest floor, and did a quick once over with her eyes. Despite wanting to rush closer and do a more thorough inspection, her mind planted her feet a couple steps away, tingles-and not the good kind-fluttering about in her chest and throat. She didn't push it, instead ungratefully settling for this distance. Perhaps it was for the best; she didn't want Summit to see that side of her quiet just yet.
