Koder quickly followed behind Katari without saying a word. He let her take the lead as they began to make their way across the field to where they once. Traces of the stampede were obvious. Grass and dirt was kicked up from the ground and laid scattered about the field. Their smell was still strong in the air. Koder figured she was going to go back to the place where they got caught up in the mess, but exactly what they could do, he didn’t know. He could pretend to look, but that seemed rude in a strange way. He figured, at least he could be there for moral support. He wished his brother was here. He was better in these type of situations then he was. He sighed, as he picked up the pace to catch up with Katari who got a little ahead of him as he dazed off. Even though it was autumn, it was still rather hot with the sun bearing down at them. He secretly wished they were back at the waterhole with the shade. He knew this was important though.
“I’m sure we will find him soon, he couldn’t have wandered off too far. I’m sure he knows that you would come back for him.” She tried to reassure him, not exactly sure what she was feeling at the moment. It didn’t take them long to return to the accident. His bones ached just remembering it. It was empty all around. He turned his attention to Katari, not quite sure what he was supposed to do or even what to say to her. He turned his attention to the sky when he noticed shade blocking the sun, as dark clouds began to roll in. He frowned. He hoped that it wasn’t going to rain anytime soon. He wasn’t the biggest fan of getting wet and there wasn’t much shelter from the rain. Plus he figured that Katari would be a mess if she didn’t find her friend soon. Please don’t let it rain… he thought to himself.
“Do you…sense...anything?” He asked trying to put the words together carefully.
