The falling leaves of different colors crunched underneath the paws of the courageous warrior. With an amber gaze, the horizon was scanned, searching for something. Nothing in particular, just something. Overcast clouds covered up the warmth of the sun, and a cool, quick breeze ran through the fur of the creature like the fingers of a comb. The coat of the animal was thinner than most, and was considered abnormal. A shiver rushed down the warrior's spine, from the nose to the tip of the tail. A quick breath was expelled from the lungs, almost as a sigh. The loneliness was taking it's toll on the female, and finally setting in that she's on her own. That idea was unsettling, and caused her to wince ever so slightly. She enjoyed being alone, but not being lonely. It was one of her biggest fears.
Her beloved father and brother had risked their lives for the pack, and unfortunately, their battle was ended at the time of the incident. They didn't die quickly and painlessly, no. The enemy wanted them to suffer. The last memory that the warrior has of her family was looking into their eyes and watching the fear and the suffering leave their lifeless bodies as they told her to escape. A good warrior would never run from a battle, even if it does result in death, and Adsila was one of the greatest in the territory. But this battle was one that wasn't going to be won. The pack that Adsila had belonged to was one of the largest in the area, as well as the most powerful... or so they thought. The pack was overtaken by a pack that was far larger and powerful than they.
The pads of her paws became damp as she padded into a puddle. She looked around, and only saw the exposed roots of large trees in the water. The moon was shining high in the sky, but also hid the secrets of the shadows. Adsila was trained to move like the shadows, secretive and silent. The shadows seemed to shift as the breeze shook the trees, and ruffled the fur of the passing warrior. It was a warm breeze that embraced the warrior like a warm hug. It was as if her brother and father were walking beside her, guiding her in the right direction.
She sighed heavily, and looked into the water, only to see more than one face looking back at her. Her face was joined by that of her father and brother smiling back at her. "Find your way in this world. We will guide you in the right direction, and help you make decisions. Your training does not stop here, young warrior. The lessons will continue throughout your lifetime, just look for the signs that we give you. Move like the shadows, Adsila. The shadows lie within your coat. Stay wary, Adsila. We have never left you."
She sighed, and watched as their reflections disappeared with the ripples of the water. "It seems as if you have left me, father and brother. But I promise I will not let you down. I will not let your memories die. Please, please send me some sign. I need to know you're here... please."
