So I have a long way to go before I have enough points to create a pack, but this idea popped into my head a couple weeks ago and I have been playing around with it and so far I really think it could work and be really cool.
(Important details will be in bold)
First off, the wolf I want to make who would start and lead the pack would be blind. This plays a major role in how the pack functions. Because the alpha would not be able to see if a wolf is showing any odd traits, wolves would be accepted based purely on how the alpha thinks they sound. This is going to be a peaceful pack, so evil wolves would not be welcomed. While I have not completely worked out this character, I know it will have had a passed that permits it to tell the difference between honesty and lies in some way, be it wording or intonation. This is how it will make decisions. If a wolf has had a bad past as a violent warrior but sounds like he regrets his actions and wants to start over and is completely honest about it, he will be welcomed. If a wolf with a violent past wants to join and keep up these ways, or is lying about wanting to start over, they will be sent away.
However, the peaceful nature is not the biggest thing about this pack. The most important thing is that they honor and pray to the moon as a goddess. All important ceremonies are done at night and never under a new moon. For those of you who are familiar with the Warriors series by Erin Hunter, they work in a similar way to the cats at gatherings. If the moon is covered, the goddess is believed to not approve of whatever they are doing in their ceremony. If this is the case, the ceremony is instantly stopped and the alpha and anyone else who is majorly important to the ceremony meet the following night to discuss what upset the goddess, be it how the ceremony was done, what they wanted from it, or even just the wolves participating.
Ceremonies are not the only thing done at night. Most pack activity is done during these hours, from simply conversing to small announcements to pack meetings. Wolves are not required to believe the moon is a goddess, but are expected to follow the traditions and ceremonies. Wolves who wish to completely take on the religion are to take part in a ceremony -details have not yet been worked out for this- that ultimately ends in the wolf sleeping alone in the center of the territory under a full moon. This wolf is to be left completely alone for the week following the ceremony.
This is all I have worked out for the pack so far other than the name. I am thinking of naming the pack Lleuad, which means moon in Welsh.
If anyone is interested, please let me know and you can help me figure out details and continue to plan the pack. I will even try to find some sort of gift for the founding members, though it may be a simple, cute drawing of your character.
