SPEECH.
The night was wane and bleak. The trees sagged towards the ground, the stars hid themselves, and even the wind seemed to hold an air of sadness in it. It blew softly and gently, but not steadily. Only the moon seemed to reject this. It hung in the sky, full and radiant. It's brightness gave a pretty, soft glow to the earth beneath. Tonight, it was bigger than usual, seemingly consuming the entire night sky. It held the world in a trance; everything was quiet and still. It was as if the moon spoke silence, and the earth beneath obeyed. Instead of the moon revolving about the earth, the earth revolved around the moon for this one night.
One creature defied this command. He was a creature who's only master was the moon. But the moon was also his very closest friend, and he therefore was allowed this disobedience in order that he might speak with his companion. It would seem, at first glance, almost as though a ghost moved through the silent, drooping trees. The moonlight brightened the white fur so much that it almost looked as if a white glow was alive, instead of a living, breathing mortal. However, upon a second glance, you would immediately notice the ink-dipped tail-tip. After this inspection, you would naturally assume that an angel had been tainted by sin, and had fallen to the broken world beneath it's heavenly seat.
And indeed, you would be correct.
For once, he had been an angel. A protector. A guardian to an albino whose name had become almost a ghost to him. Because she was a ghost. How could he ever live his life? How could he forget? And yet, it seemed, he must. For life moved on without him, as he had recently found out. Why, Syd? Why? Why had his aunt deserted her family? Hadn't she cared enough to try and find her nieces and nephews? I thought you loved us... He knew she did. There had to be an explanation. Severus simply hadn't known that explanation. Luckily for himself, he had starved himself to the perfect extent to perform his hunt to the best of his ability. Also lucky was his ability, despite his young age, to hide from his problems and shock in general. He usually did this in the form of solving others' problems, but had managed to pull it off by distraction of the hunt for the Ultoris Alpha. However, tonight he couldn't escape his thoughts anymore.
He had wandered back unconsciously to the last spot he had seen another soul. Maybe he unconsciously actually wanted to run into the kind male whom he had seen only three days prior. What had been his name again? It had begun with a 'K', he remembered that because of his own name and his father's. Kujo. That was it. The male was Kaze's own age, and only a few inches taller, though he definitely carried more weight. Kaze was strong, but he couldn't keep much weight on because of his Iranian blood, which ran dominant through his body. His practices to keep his hunting instincts and abilities high didn't help either. Still, he hoped to see the young white male. He wandered aimlessly through the forest, his belly still quite satisfied from his hunt the previous day.
Sighing quietly, his movement halted. Immediately, he regretted it.
One moment's stillness. That's all it ever took.
NO. NO. NO! ANGEL!
Noise pounded on Kaze's eardrums, so loud that he screamed aloud himself in hysterical pain. Tears welled up in his eyes, as he watched once more, in slow-motion, his mother being torn apart by a massive bear. He felt as if he could hear each individual tear of her skin, and could feel every tooth that sunk into her flesh. He could hear every pitch-fall of her scream, and he could feel his father's absolute terror. Terror. Panic. Disbelief. Anguish. Rage. Hate. And then he attacked his mate's murderer. Kaze could feel the blood running through his father's veins as if they were his own. Power. Strength. The large male's eyesight became consumed in red, and the only beast that was in his focus was the bear. The only beast that was in Kaze's focus was his father. He watched, rooted to the spot, watching his father murdered by the same beast that had murdered his mother.
Kaze's body trembled and shook with agony. Weakness washed over him like a tidal wave as he fought to master the disease that plagued his mind. Shrieks filled his mind to overflowing until his own voice mimicked them. Pleas for help, cries of pain, and shrieks of torture as one can only experience by watching your true love lose their life in a gruesome way. Kaze's incredible strength failed him under the pressure of his mind, and his body crashed to the earth dramatically. He dug his claws into the earth, legs sprawled and swinging frantically. He gripped any nearby plant between his teeth, desperately trying to regain the physical world. He almost became completely consumed when he heard something that he had never befoer heard, not even when he had actually experienced the event.
KIZZY!!!
It was a wail that immediately brought him out of his panic. He recognized the voice immediately. He stumbled to his feet, head spinning around him. The earth grew closer to him, and fell away, and came closer and fell away again. He began to run about wildly, searching for the source of the voice. It couldn't be. It just couldn't. No. No.
Mother?
He could only think the word, still caught in a schizophrenic strain. He was completely unaware that he hadn't actually called for her. But his muscles were still reacting from memory from his episode, and he only managed to get a few yards away before he crashed to the earth again. His shoulder slammed into the ground roughly, and pain filled his leg. He ignored this, however, as the tears continued to well and overflow faster than his heightened heartbeat could pump his blood through his body. He lay like this until he was finally able to slow his hearbeat and breathing, and calm his aching heart. He was glad he was away from his pack now. Had Severus seen that, he would have felt as if he was only a packmate by association with his aunt. His aunt had mated with the previous Ultoris alpha, Fury, who was Severus' best friend. According to his Alpha, they had both disappeared shortly after Osani had been defeated. No word, and no warning. Sydas, who was heavily pregnant, and Fury had deserted their friends and family and went to who knows where. Was Ultoris not suitable enough for them to raise their pups? No. He had to believe that there was some crisis that they had had to respond to immediately. And they must have been injured or captured along the way or something. It was these returning thoughts that calmed his nervous mind.
Suddenly, ivory ears swiveled. Kaze raised his eyes wearily, and finally regained his paws. He was still weak, but able to stand and appear as if he was not. Flattening his ears, he peered in the direction of the approach, readying himself for anything.
