Eidus stood among the desolate lands looking at all the little creeks and ponds flowing around the ground. Between the desolate land and the dark rivulets of water flowing everywhere it gave Eidus the feeling of a battle ground with the blood still running fresh over it. He closed his eyes as he dropped comfortably to his haunches and listened to the cool breeze whisper across the land around him. He could almost hear the howls and growls of the warring wolves surround him as the furred warriors clashed in heated battle over some long forgotten insult.
As he leaned into the wind letting his mind fill in the other sense Eidus felt as if he could feel the blood run around his paws. He could almost smell the metallic tang of blood on the air. As he fell into the call of his senses images of the dark furred creatures tearing at each other began to form in his mind. He saw their battle fierce and intense in its violence. He heard their calls ring in his very existence. The calls seemed to stir his blood, making his internal predator awaken and begin calling for blood. As he opened his eyes he felt the world slow for a moment around him.
It seemed like the world around his began to move through water as he watched. He seemed to absorb the world around him all at once. From the flicker of far off trees gently moving in the breeze to the tumbling water in the creeks. His blood sang out deep inside calling for him to hunt something. Where it be prey of the canine variety or the eating variety mattered little. As his heart began to race the world sped back up to normal speed. He had no idea the history of the land here nor what called out to him from these lands but it had very much awoken the sleeping creature he kept locked away.
The thoughts of that predator caused his mind to flash to his cousin Night Wind. The anger it caused made him actively snarl at the mere thought of the creature he was related to. However he could not deny that they shared the deep predator that thirsted for death. The difference between himself and Night was that Night was consumed by it from birth. Eidus fought to walk the line between the two worlds of day and night. He kept his internal hunter in check but only barely. As he looked around he shook his fur out letting the wind pick strands of his multi-colored coat and toss them gently.
He realized that the longer he stood here on his own the faster the hunter that slept normally would take him over. He needed companionship to distract him but no one was near. He knew that somewhere in near by lands Lalani was wandering but he had no clue as to where. The idea struck upon his mind almost as soon as the hunter inside seemed to snarl at him to just let loose. Eidus stood rapidly spreading his paws in a broad stance as he stood up his body filled with energy and a purpose of sorts.
The idea of calling out across the empty lands made him excited for some reason. Almost like he wanted to scream out his rage and blood lust and take these lands for himself. His mind at the thought wandered to Lalani and wondered what it would be like to have a pack with her. He let a loose feral grin slide across his face. That could be a fun idea. However not even the hunter was dumb enough to ever think of dominating that ferocious female, so full of life and vigor. He looked into the wind as he thought to himself No reason you couldn't lead the pack from beside her though his inner hunter said.
He shook the thoughts from his head and wondered if this would be the kind of lands Lalani would enjoy. This place had to have more wolves than just himself and her. Maybe in time he would finally meet more. Maybe then they could make a pack of their own and Eidus could finally move from his past forward. However as with all great changes in ones life it took a step forward in the world. Here it would be less of a step and more of a howl. He grinned into the wind and took a deep breath. The salt had wounded his throat and he knew this would hurt but hells it would be worth it. Eidus leaned his head back as he released his voice in a rough scaling howl of calling. He called out to Lalani even as his voice began to roughen he pushed harder calling hard and letting his notes echo out across the lands.
As his voice came back down his throat hurt deeply but he could hardly feel it over the rush of blood and pleasure that echoed in his body from it. It felt good to let loose like that. Even his internal hunter seemed pleased with the call. His body felt the resonance of the call as it rolled out and gently echoed from the far trees. He enjoyed the power of the call even as his throat raised its concerns about his bodies state. He ignored it and waited for either a call to return or to see who came to see from where the call came from.
