[attr="class","pltxt"] As the volcano loomed above him, Venom finally felt as though he were making some progress. This was his first time traveling the entirety of the continent--at least, as much as was wise for a wolf of his size--but he had been here before, and he knew that he was much closer to home than he had been in the lands Airila and Eden called home. Though he preferred the cover of the north, he was impressed to see that the destruction of the last eruption here was beginning to dissipate. Sapling trees and fresh green grass littered the blackened ground, taking over again after what had been devastating only a few short months ago.
Mountains would always be a dark part of Venom's past, but this volcano had done him no wrongs personally; the avalanche that had taken from his his right rear leg was on the other side of the island, part of the range that hid the Oriens from view. Despite it having been a tragic point in his life, the dark male was not bothered by it any longer. He had adapted quickly after taking his ruined leg, and though he was not quite the killer he had been before, there was little stopping him. Venom had killed several wolves in quick succession in the past few weeks, and though he had spied no prospects among the short brush around him, that did not mean he would not kill again soon.
In fact, his next kill ended up being a life that meant nothing to anyone; in his movements through the darkened land, as yet untouched by the morning sun, he kicked up a nest of rabbits, and easily snapped one up into his jaws with one swift, practiced motion. Easily his teeth closed upon the squealing creature, silencing it effectively while the taste of blood and fur consumed his senses. Briefly his green eyes closed in bliss, and without hesitation the male chewed his prey several times and swallowed it nearly whole, unable to savor the meat in his desire to consume it quickly. He had been hungry, and hunger did not care how delicious a meal was but only how quickly it ended up in one's stomach.
Licking his lips slowly, the experienced creature continued in his leisurely, weaving line, looking as though he hadn't a care in the world. There was little danger of anyone sneaking up on him here, and his appearance was simply a facade; every sense of his that could detect others was on high alert as always, specifically his sharp eyes and pointed ears. His hopping gait was smoother than one would imagine, though it was clear even from a distance that there was a reason for the odd way of walking. Venom had grown used to hiding his physical deficit but in no way went to any lengths to disguise it for long; the more an enemy underestimated him, the better.
As the sun began to break across the horizon, the dark male glanced to the east, spying a hint of blue that was the river in the distance. He would eventually head toward it in order to follow the shore to the land where Imperium was hidden, but for now he did not mind being out in the open. If anyone wanted to happen upon him, he would either welcome the conversation or end it--and he had plenty of ways to end things.
