Things were different here than Neviah expected.
The island was crawling with life. It seemed around every corner, there were more wolves, and most of them were related to the emperor. Sabaoth had been kind enough to grant her refuge until she could find Isaiah, but that did not relieve the tension that coursed through her body. There were so many strangers, and while the dire femme itched to make friends and integrate herself into the pack, her entire being sought out Isaiah. It had been far too long since they parted ways, and the young femme was not certain that he would even remember her, let alone still want her. The connection between the two was palpable, at least for Neviah. She was nearly desperate to feel the affection and caring that the male brought out in her. In his presence, gone was the icy femme who combated fear with a sharp tongue. Her snark had no place here. Not now, where she was surrounded by unfamiliar faces and scents. There was only one that she really wanted, and he had to be here soon.
Neviah heeded Sab's advice, opting to steer clear of the southern swamps. The last thing she needed was to lose a limb to an alligator or other swamp beast. In fact, she had no desire to go near the majority of the pack's territory. Unfortunately, the young wolf was smitten by the antagonistic pretty boy from Acerbus. Even though every fiber of her being cried to resist, here she was. Not only was she far too close to her home lands once more, but it was completely by choice. It was crazy the things that love would do... if this was truly love. Neviah was not certain she knew how to love, yet the magnetic pull toward Isaiah was undeniable. If he had not left her behind, she would follow him to the ends of the earth.
Uncertain how else to find him, Nev threw her head back, calling out for the male in the most primal way possible. Her cry carried over the island, and certainly the pack heard her summon. But she could not bring herself to care, for if Isaiah was here as Sabaoth had indicated, she needed to be with him. Why are you doing this to yourself? He is going to be with someone else, the naive voice in the back of her head taunted. But somehow, she held on to the hope that in the months they had been separated, his affection for her had not waned. If anything, the absence only bolstered the femme's desire to find him.
Maybe this was not the exact life she imagined for herself, but that did not mean she could not make a life here. After all, home was where the heart laid, and the day Isaiah headed to Ina'mos, he took Neviah's heart with him.
Home was wherever he was.
