It was amazing just how different the regions of this land were. With but a few hundred miles, the lands transitioned from dense jungle to flat plains, then again into mountainous expanse. While it may have been a bit of a frivolous endeavor to wander out in search of other wolves, it was well within her right to send the pack out. Valeria understood the need of the pack to expand, and without males in their ranks, they needed to reach out to the loners of this land. Surely there would be no risk of them coming back for their young; most males were simply happy to pleasure themselves at the expense of a poor, lone female. Little did they know, Valeria was neither of these things. She could play the part, if necessary, but she had no intention of remaining submissive to any other creature.
The greatest issue that Val foresaw was locating a suitable mate. Not any wolf would do; she needed to find someone at least close to her equal. It would not do any good to have more midget wolves running around. No, Valeria needed warriors, enforcers, and supporters. They would conceive the next generation of wolves, and she needed someone who would help her accomplish that goal. So far, the loners had been scrawny and pathetic at best. It seemed the only suitable wolves were, sadly, related to her. Luckily for the universe, Valeria had no incestuous desires, and she continued on her search. With the central lands scoured, she had no choice but to either head back to continental Anikira or head north.
As she continued along the southernmost border of the Kairos lands, Valeria paused; hopefully the others were having better luck than she. Granted, they likely had much lower standers than the alphess. There was no great legacy to carry on through their bloodlines. But her family was a line of rulers; first her grandfather, then her father and now her. There was also her brother, but he was a bit of a disappointment to the family in the she-wolf's eyes. She had to continue their grand tradition, and that would not happen with a scrawny mule. She had heard rumors of the great wolves native to these lands. Perhaps, in a stroke of luck, she would manage to stumble upon one. Only then would she believe herself to find a suitable partner.
