She was wet. It was all the large female could think about as her paws struck out beneath her at the liquid that surrounded her. How she had gotten into the water, she did not remember, but she knew that she was there now and needed to get back onto dry land. She had escaped the grip of the male that she unfortunately had to call father, but she could not bring herself to believe that she was truly ever free of him. Or his brother. In fact, she really had no idea which had actually sired her. It did not matter, and with any luck, her mother had taken her own life to prevent their disgusting spawn to stretch further than herself. She had been tainted, stained by both of them, but she had not allowed their offspring to survive. No, thankfully her mother was not related to the monsters, but they had pushed to further their genes through her, their own daughter. The memory of killing her pups left a sting in her chest as she pushed herself slowly towards the shore, and though she found it harder and harder to breathe as she thought about them, she was determined to move forward.
She could not let them destroy her, not completely, anyways. Finally, after what felt like hours and left her dripping wet and exhausted, she reached the dry shore. It took a great effort to heave herself up onto the dry land, and she could feel the extra weight of the water that clung to her coat as if another creature had draped themselves over her back. She panted heavily as she shook herself dry, tail swaying behind her for a moment before she lifted her head to look around. One quick inhale told her that she was on a claimed territory, and though she briefly thought about turning her back on the pack that she already knew was Kairos, she lowered her hind end to the ground and lifted her nose. A soft howl echoed around her for only a few moments before she stopped the sound, ears perked and brown eyes looking for any sign of another. If she had any hope of freeing herself from her fathers completely, Kairos would be the pack to help her. They would not dare enter the monstrous pack's territory, and she would be free of them within their borders.
But would they accept her? She was of pure Kenai lineage, but she could not bring herself to be proud of that fact. No, her heritage shamed her, but no one here needed to know that. Perhaps they would find out eventually, but for now there was no need to inform them of her past. She would focus on the future and take steps forward, not back. She would be of great use to this pack, for she not only could provide, but she could also fight and defend if necessary. She adored pups, even though she had been forced to kill her own, and she was no stranger to the beliefs of the pack she was stepping into. Then again, they had recently taken on new ownership. Perhaps there was a better chance of her improving herself and moving up in the world than ever before. If she was lucky, anyways.
