Changes were on the horizon.
Though Leviathan had not forseen himself in a pack once more, nor did he believe he would ever coexist willingly with a member of his own blood, the universe seemed intent on proving him a fool and liar. And so with Mara's announcement of Tenebris, Levi found himself sucked into a new world. But there was much about this that he enjoyed. He had the entire span of the desert to patrol and maintain. Though they were but three now, Levi had no doubts in his mind that they were fierce enough to ward off even the most fearsome of adversaries. Mara would have more of her snark to terrify the masses, while Raum and Leviathan could easily control the borders.
Yet Levi found himself wandering off once more in search of something to do. Mara and Raum had bonded in some twisted way, and Levi was not quite keen on lurking around while they danced their intricate and dark mating dance. He had already found a bitch to claim, and Mara would likely castrate him if he tried anything with her. Besides, she was far too dominant of a personality to bend to his whims; it was part of the reason he mutually respected her. Though he did not have any admiration or affection toward the two, there was an unspoken respect between the three that would likely be the basis for this entire farce of a home. The death and destruction of the desert would help to keep others away, while the two beasts of males could easily hunt for the three. Their brute size matched many of the prey animals that patrolled through the sandy dunes of the Occasus. But Leviathan was not looking for a quick meal; in all honesty, he was not hungry in the least. Instead, he hungered for his new favorite pastime; pain. The male was itching to find something to do, and he simply could not turn to Raum or Mara any time the whim struck him. Harlot would be too far away for him to abuse once more, so he would have to make due with what the desert had to offer him.
The kenai male found himself wandering further north toward the massive volcano and the river that divided their lands from the next nearest neighbors. Leviathan could not wait until someone came across to seek an alliance: what a mighty surprise would lie in wait from them in the death of the sands. It was unspoken, but Tenebris would be seeking no friendships. They were already strong, and they would not need the strength of others to help them feel important. That was the thing. They were already dangerous and uncontrolled; they had nothing to gain from an alliance with the other packs of the continent. Many of them had already chosen their sides, and Levi wanted no part of the politics between the packs. They were boring and, quite frankly, unnecessary.
As the male traipsed about the dunes, he unconsciously found himself following a lone kudu; though he normally would not have targeted such a large beast for his amusement, the male quickly piqued his interest. Although it was clear from the bull's massive horns that he was a survivor, it seemed the universe had not been on his side this time. The male was nearly dragging its hind leg, a clear sign of injury. It was likely the kudu found itself in a battle for mating rights, and the other bull had emerged the victor. This one had been left to die a slow, painful death, taken by the sands. So was the way of life in the Occasus; either one lived like a king, or died alone.
