Where to begin? Her life had been turned upside down in a matter of days. Not that she was against it all, though. Her life had improved immensely from where it had begun. She had been born into a ridiculous pack that had already failed, and when she had abandoned them for good, she had run into Leviathan. He had been like her, and he had shared her dislike for Valyn. But, not only that, within a few days she had met Raum as well. Now he was different than anyone she had ever met. He was strong and confident, but he was like her as well. They had only spent a short time together so far, but she would make sure that they had more time in the future. For now, though, she was on her own. They had claimed the Occasus as Tenebris territory, but they had yet to cover all of the land in their scent.

She had never truly had a home until now, and she was not about to let anyone take it away from her. So far she was the only female in the pack, but she found that it did not bother her in the slightest. It sounded like Levi would be going after his bitch again eventually, but for now he really did not bother with much effort. Instead, he and Raum had gone off together somewhere and the tiny female found that she as perfectly happy away from all the testosterone for a while. Sure, they were great one on one, but together they seemed to just build off of each other and encourage the male-ness that was both of them. She could not help but silently laugh at the thought, and though she felt a weird affection for both males, she would never bring herself to tell either of them that.

No, instead she wandered in the direction of the Isdyn's Deep, merely out of curiosity more than anything. She wanted to know her new home, for she doubted she would leave it often. She would need a safe place to live and do whatever she wanted, and she had been outside of a pack territory a few times and it had not ended well. She had lost her tail as a pup when she'd wandered off, but it really had not changed her much. She truly had not learned from the experience, though she knew that logically it was safer for her within the claimed territory than it was outside of it. Especially with Raum and Levi around. She did not have size and strength like they did, she only had sarcasm and attitude. That would only get her so far, and with Lilith, it had lost her a tail. She almost visibly shrugged off the thoughts as she finally entered the cave, blue eyes searching the darkness and ears perked to listen for any sign of other life inside. Sure, it was probably stupid for her to just waltz right in, but she had proven many times that she was not one to let fear work as intelligence for her.

[Leviathan]

Though their hunt of the older kudu was successful, Leviathan found that there was still something lacking. Truthfully he knew that Mara would have been little help in the endeavor; the beast, even wounded, was twice his and Raum's size. Though it would take many days for the carcass to dry for Levi to take his skull as well, he was moderately content with the outcome. They needed to start including Mara in these excursions though, if she was ever to get to develop the taste for blood that he and Raum both shared. Mara would have to be initiated in eventually; the biggest issue was her size.

Though Levi often found it more interesting to poke at a wolf's miniscule existence, he never felt the urge around Mara. Though she was small and dainty, there was nothing about her that made Levi feel the need to belittle her. She was the polar opposite of Arya, and that was exactly what she needed to be to keep the Kenai male from terrorizing her. His urge to dominate was what drove him to do many of the things he did, and Mara was strong enough not to bow under his pressure. The male found his mind drifting back to the wanton bitch, Harlot. Perhaps in time he would manage to find her and drag her here. She was quite the enjoyable play thing, and Levi had a knack for developing an unhealthy possession to things he considered "his."

As the brute tracked Mara's scent from their hunting grounds, he drew nearer and nearer to the volcano that had decimated the continent not even a few short months ago. But there was no red liquid trailing from the top, so he supposed it would be safe enough to draw close. Perhaps Mara had discovered something that would be of use to them around here; and quite right he was. The tiny femme's scent led to him to what appeared to be an old lava cavern; Levi had never seen anything quite like it before. Unlike the dens in Valyn, this cave was molded and worn by time, and it was most likely a vein in the volcano from its more active existence before his birth.

But Levi was not content to just casually stroll up to the wolf. As he spied Mara not too far into the caverns, he crept silently along until she was mere feet behind the femme. Somewhere in his mind, this was a good idea; consequences be damned. Leviathan leaped out from behind a lava rock formation, a deep snarl rippling from his throat as he pounced, landing nearly on top of Mara. The sound of his throaty cry bounced off the walls of the cavern, the echoes shaking further and further into the cave.

She had not gotten far into the cavern when a sudden impact pushed her down into the hard floor and a growl rippled through the caves in echoes. Her tiny body was no match for his incredible size, and her legs buckled beneath her and her head fell to the ground with a muffled thud and a snarl of annoyance. But she did not stop there. No, he would have to be punished for his stupidity, of course. She could not do a ton of damage to him, but she knew he would not dare actually harm her for Raum would no doubt rip his throat out if he did. Plus, she had a feeling that although Levi was incapable of feeling emotion, he actually did care about her at least a little bit. Or at least somewhat respected her enough not to kill her. After all, he was the one that started this. It was only a split second before her head turned, teeth flashing in his direction with the intention of causing as much damage as possible. She might have been little, but her teeth were just as sharp, if not more so, than any other wolf's.

"Get the fuck off me, Levi." She snarled, twisting and snapping at him in any direction she could in an attempt to squeeze herself out from underneath his enormous form. She had no reservations about hurting him, but she avoided snapping at his throat because she honestly did not want to kill him. He deserved a beating, that much was for sure, but she needed - and sort of wanted - him around still. Even if she had heard him coming she would have been no match for his size, but he should have known that doing such a thing would piss her off. Perhaps that was why he had done it. Her blue eyes narrowed and her teeth continued to draw as much blood and do as much damage as they could before she managed to get away from him.

"If you ever do that again, I'll rip your fucking throat out." She growled, turning to face him with her ears pinned backwards and her head lowered in a mild threat. She meant it, too, even if it would not be easy for her to achieve. The male had to sleep sometime, right? The thought of killing another wolf in their sleep made her threatening growl turn into a small smirk, but she let it vanish a moment later when she shook her entire body to rid it of the dirt that now littered her fur and then sat down slowly to glare in irritation at him. "What are you doing here, anyways? I thought you boys were off nursing your little bromance or something." She asked, tilting her head slightly and sighing heavily. She had not seen Raum in days now, and though she enjoyed the time to herself, she found herself missing his company.

[Leviathan]

Though Leviathan did not expect a pleasant reaction from Mara, he could not help but snarl back in irritation as the little brat lashed out at his underside, her claws and teeth scratching and biting at anything in reach. The dainty little thing managed to seize hold of some of the looser skin of the male's neck where he had not completely grown into his own skin yet, her razor sharp teeth slashing into the flesh. The young Kenai male felt the warmth of his own blood against his fur, and he could not help but turn the eyes of hell on the bitch. "I do not know what your problem is, but you best calm yourself," the male droned with nothing but indifference in his voice. The cut bloody hurt, but it would not take long before it was nothing more than a scar and another story about the miniature bunny wolf that his half-brother seemed to care for. He could not bring himself to care that he had nearly frightened the femme into defecating herself. In fact, that might have been interesting.

The male could have turned on Mara, but he did not see a point in blood for blood here. She would be no match, and it simply would not be fun for him. That, and he had a feeling Raum might not be pleased if he took another body part from Mara. She was already mutilated enough, though her lack of tail would certainly make for easier access. "I suppose you should watch your back a little better then," he remarked bluntly, "for I will no sooner allow you to rip out my throat than you would allow me to do the same honors to you." Their ways were different but that did not mean the pair did not have a silent understanding. She had lashed out against him in anger, and he could not be provoked in the same way. In truth, Leviathan was interested in just how the wolf would react to his appearance, but he could not fault her for retaliating. What he would not stand for was additional violence against him. Raum might have taken a particular liking for her, but he was bound by no such affection toward the female.

"It was a success, of course. The skull of the kudu will make for a pleasant crown," he replied. But there was no way to mask the fresh blood that had dripped down the male's brow; his face screamed of the savage takedown and the rather appalling display afterwards. Why would he hesitate, as Raum had, in taking his helm? The severed jaw and profuse bleeding from the previously attached kudu skull had been quite some work, but with his brother's assistance he had managed to don the flesh-covered head, albeit briefly. He would allow the skull to cure, but he was content in his choice. The horns of the kudu were mighty, as was Leviathan. It was a well suited choice for the male.

"I do believe I may go pay Mother a visit," the male commented errantly, his eyes devoid of the emotion one might expect to see at the mention of a parent. He held no commitment to her anymore, but Mother had at least granted him a home for as long as she did. He could have been tossed aside sooner, and her could only imagine Mara's response to his comment. "I hear my Grandfather is in poor health. Perhaps a pelt of the great elders of the continent would be a welcomed addition to our new home." He did not want the femme to believe his visit to be sentimental in nature, for it would not be in the least. He had every intention of bringing the body of his grandfather back with him, even if it meant killing him himelf. They needed more reason to keep outsiders away from their lands. And if it meant he needed to invoke the fear of Tor and Fenris themselves in every living being who dared to walk into the desert, then so be it.

Mara

He was not pleased with her violent outburst, but she could not bring herself to care even in the slightest. "I do not know what your problem is, but you best calm yourself," Her ears pinned backwards once more and she growled in his direction, obviously not at all worried about his threats. "Don't tell me what to do, I'm not one of your playthings, Levi." She hissed, and if she had a tail, it would have lashed back and forth behind her in irritation. "I suppose you should watch your back a little better then, for I will no sooner allow you to rip out my throat than you would allow me to do the same honors to you." She rolled her eyes at his comment, for she had no intention of actually attempting to kill her first companion. He irritated her, sure, but that did not mean she was stupid enough to try and kill him. But she could not help imagine what it would be like to try and kill him in his sleep.

Either way, what was done was done. She sighed heavily and shook her head as she looked up at the large male in front of her. She had been enjoying her time alone, and his method of greeting her had definitely soured her mood greatly. "I do believe I may go pay Mother a visit," She frowned slightly, taking another deep breath and exhaling slowly. Why would I give a fuck what you did on your own time? She kept the comment to herself this time, a surprising amount of self control springing up inside of her for once. It would not last long, of course, but it was nice to know that she was capable of it from time to time. But she had warned Levi when they had first met that she would annoy him. Sure, he had not gotten angry at her, but she believed she had gotten him as close to it as possible today. "I hear my Grandfather is in poor health. Perhaps a pelt of the great elders of the continent would be a welcomed addition to our new home." He was not wrong, and for the first moment in their meeting today, she found that she was actually interested in what he was saying.

"That would be better than moving the Kairos bitch all over the borders." She said, knowing that no one had any intention of tearing apart Xena's body and spreading it to the other parts of the border. Perhaps later at some point, but for right now the full carcass seemed to be enough of a warning. Then again, she had smelled other wolves on their territory since. She would have gone after them herself, but she knew that she was no match for anyone without either Levi or Raum accompanying her. Perhaps she could do some reconnaissance, but she knew that she was very unlikely to control herself and refrain from confronting anyone that dared to blatantly enter their territory.

So Mara was capable of not lashing out, it seemed. Leviathan was mildly impressed with her ability to contain herself, but he was not about to commend her on her actions. If she were going to spend any measurable amount of time around him, it was best that she learn to tolerate his behavior. He had no intentions of changing his ways, and her mention about not being one of his play things was out of place. "Everything in this world is my plaything," he stated matter-of-factly. "It is just a matter of if I choose play with it or not. You are not my first choice, though it seems you may be Raum's." The casual statement was not intended as a compliment, a display of jealousy, or anything other than the plain fact that it was. He had not had any interest toward Mara since their first meeting, and his desire to anger Raum was not very high. His half-brother and Levi had plenty of learning about each other in store. Leviathan was not a spiteful or vindictive being. He merely... was. Jealousy, anger, and love were foreign concepts. What the other two might or might not have been capable of had no bearing on his behavior.

"I have no desire to take the life of my own blood, but if the male is on his last leg as it is, I suppose helping it along would do no harm," Leviathan stated, his dual-hued eyes leisurely scanning the cavern. "I believe blocking the western border of the desert would be best. I do not believe Mother will allow me to take Grandfather's body without some disapproval." That was the greatest change about their new life here. He had no one else's desires to bend to, but he could consciously recognize that if Mother saw Grandfather's corpse draped along the border, it would not be long before she would show up here. He knew well enough that they were few in numbers, and though he and Raum could satisfactorily scare any wolf to defecation, he would not hold up against a wall of others. "I suppose it is time we add to the Kairos bitch."

There was no more mention from the brute of his attempt to frighten Mara. It had been a personal hobby of his, attempting to guess what emotion his actions would bring out. The lashing out was akin with anger, or so Hal had told him when they were young. Anything intending to inflict pain was normally linked with anger, while behavior like Arya's constant whining and clinging had been symptoms of... fear? He believed that was the right term. Perhaps it had been something else. There was little more he enjoyed than trying to guess how his actions affected others. Perhaps he was more like his paternal side than he cared to admit, but Leviathan had no urge to seek out his family. He had already met his half-brother and half-sister in Kairos, and he was quite frankly not impressed. His brother won control of their lands on sheer numbers, but Leviathan had witnessed the fight between the pair. Typhon had been significantly larger than Mother, and yet she had held her own against the male. It only drove Leviathan to be greater than his half-siblings. So far, Raum was the only one that did not seem to be overly power hungry or manipulative at first glance. He was there, and so was Leviathan. They could co-exist and live in these sandy dunes without the disturbance of wolves who thought to contain them, and for Levi, that was enough.

When it came to virtues, Mara had little. But patience, that simply did not exist in her world. The larger wolf had already destroyed her peaceful exploration, but his words also drew a low growl from her tiny body. She was nobody's plaything, but perhaps she would allow Raum to claim her. Hell, it was more than a perhaps, but she was not about to tell Levi that. The little wolf had her pride, what little the monster in front of her allowed her to hold on to, anyways. With her ears pinned backwards and her chin raised slightly, she rolled her eyes. "I'm surprised that you have not let go of your entitlement, Levi. I suppose that might be a trait from your mother." She said, making absolutely no effort to conceal the jab that would likely anger any wolf that was not the one standing before her. But she knew he was incapable of feeling such an emotion, even if it was fun to poke and prod every once in a while.

But she tired of the game quickly, instead pushing herself to her feet and turning her back on him once more. She had come here to explore, not sit down and chat idly with Levi. "I believe blocking the western border of the desert would be best. I do not believe Mother will allow me to take Grandfather's body without some disapproval." From what she knew of Levi's mother, she had no doubt that the female would come barging into their territory and demand the body of her father be returned to her. What good such a thing would do her, Mara had no idea, and she honestly did not care. What their little group claimed as their own was theirs, no matter what anyone else had to say about it. "I suppose it is time we add to the Kairos bitch." She paused slightly in her walk, which was very slow anyways, and glanced back at him over her shoulder. "I'd offer to help, but I see no point in trying. I have picked up the scent of strangers on our territory, however. Just figured it would be stupid for me to go after them alone." She said, watching him for a moment and then turning away again to move further into the caverns.

This would be a good place for pups, even if she did not picture herself ever having any. Perhaps she would someday, but she doubted that she would enjoy the process. Then again, as she wandered slowly, she found herself imagining tiny versions of herself, and of Raum. The thought surprised her for a moment, but as she continued to move, she found that it was not something that she was opposed to. In fact, as she finally stopped moving and turned to head back out of the caverns, she found herself wanting to go off in search of the male in order to lead him in the direction of the trespassers. He had impressed her during their first meeting, and she was intent on seeing what else he was capable of.

Leviathan's disapproving gaze fell heavy on the smaller wolf . He was not pleased at her words, particularly at her comparison between Levi and his own mother. "I suppose you find your temper and demeanor akin to that of your mother as well, Mara. We are not our parents, and you as much as I am aware of that," the male retorted blandly, virtually ignoring that she so much as implied he was a control freak and manipulator. If Leviathan wished to manipulate someone, then he would do so with ease. But it was unlike him to veil his attempts to do so; the male had nothing to hide. Instead, he directed his interest to another statement from the little bunny wolf.

"I do believe it may be a good idea for us to... pay them a visit then," he paused briefly as he thought of the correct term to use without sounding quite as violent as he might have desired. Mara was already irked at his presence; that much was clear from her rigid body and the offhand glares she was throwing his way at every given moment. Certainly offering her some back up to confront the fools who would dare to invade their space would be a good enough consolation. He did not intend to apologize, and knowing Mara, she would not expect him to. In time, he would get his bitch back, and Raum would have his in Mara. But clearly, the she wolf was displeased with him. He was getting better at identifying this "anger" thing. Mara seemed to be filled with anger all the time, so it was not difficult to associate her with the emotion.

"So. Which would you prefer? I bring the corpse of my grandsire back, or we rattle the bones of the unworthy?" the male inquired, a slight twinkle in his eye at the thought of taking blood once more. Leviathan craved the strain of battle, and if chasing strangers out of their lands meant blood shed, he was more than happy to oblige to Mara's desires. There was no room in the desert for the weak, and unless he, Raum, and Mara saw them to be worthy, the wolves who dared to enter their borders had a certain death wish. Their rules, per say, had not truly been established. They need not be. There was a silent understanding between the trio; it was them against the world. Outsiders were not welcome here. And most of all, no one was in charge of them, not even each other. It was a lifestyle that Leviathan could support and adhere to, for here he had no one's rules to violate. He was not subservient to his sisters or mother. He was strong, so he could make his own decision. Life in Tenebris was appealing to the male. He was his own worst enemy here.

Her pool of caring had dried up, about two seconds after she was born. So, as Levi's disapproving gaze fell on her, she found that it was wonderfully easy to ignore. Even as the male spoke to her, she was walking past him - somehow, for his form took up the majority of the cavern tunnel - and out of the entrance once more. "I suppose you find your temper and demeanor akin to that of your mother as well, Mara. We are not our parents, and you as much as I am aware of that," She almost laughed at the words as they echoed around her for a few moments until her head found clear space outside of the caves. "Actually, my mother was a useless bitch, I do hope that she has fallen to the jaws of the Kairos wolves that conquested Valyn." She said, smiling as the words fell from her tongue. She held no affection for her family, and next to no similarities to her soft and weak mother. Other than her fur, she supposed.

"I do believe it may be a good idea for us to... pay them a visit then," His next words, however, piqued her interest. For the first time in a long time, she could feel the anger dripping from her muscles as excitement took over. Just the thought of being able to confront the wolves that had so blatantly crawled onto their lands made a shiver of pleasure run down her spine. "So. Which would you prefer? I bring the corpse of my grandsire back, or we rattle the bones of the unworthy?" She smiled at him now, and if she had a tail, it would have been wagging. "Let's go rattle some bones." She said, laughing softly as the words came from her mouth. Perhaps she should not have been so happy about the idea, but life had been so dull lately that she could really use some excitement. Plus, the only wolf blood she had tasted had been from the dead bitch and the male that she now traveled with. Perhaps it was time to turn her teeth on those outside of their pack.

She wasted no time in trotting away from the caverns, heading out into the desert as if she were moving into an oasis after being without water for weeks. She knew where they had been, but it would take some sniffing about to figure out where they were now. From what she could tell there were only a few trespassers, but they had yet to completely rid the territory of other wolves and their scents. They would need to work harder on marking their borders, but perhaps it was time for some fun before they got down to the irritating work of scent marking. They could do that later, and perhaps they would come out of today with a few new prizes for the trees and rocks that rested so perfectly on the edge of the Occasus.
