A lazy yawn escaped his maw as he listened to his packmates prattle on. There seemed to be a lazy air about the cavern, making everyone a little droopy. Kadhi himself wasn't really tired. He was quite enjoying the warmth the dens had to offer though. The heat radiated from the bodies of the closely gathered wolves, rising up and pocketing the area in just enough warmth to keep the cold at bay. It was pleasant, comfortable, and Kadhi had no intentions of moving any time soon.
And then Xinelil went and opened his mouth. The alpha brute just had to state that he was going on patroll. And he offered to let a few of the pack tag along. Instantly Kadhi shot up, ignoring the answers of the others. There was no way in hell he'd miss this. He hadn't been aloud to tag along on the last mission. Now a chance for adventure was presenting itself, and held the alpha's blessing. Only a fool would say no.
Stretching out a few kinks in his back, the Arabian brute cockily pranced his way towards the mouth of the cavern. He had to blink a few times as his eyes adjusted to the sunlight streaming in from outside. Compared to the dimly lit cave, the outside world was blindingly bright. The sky was cloudless, letting the sun glitter and bounce off the powder white snow. It definately made his eyes sting, and a frustrated snort splayed from his nose.
The sunlight wasn't what caused the small beast to stop, though. The second he'd reached the den's entrance, Kadhi had halted. He stood shock still, utterly frozen as he stared into the distance. His teeth ground together and his eyes widened, tail curling between his legs. Usually tall auds flattened in a heartbeat, and a rather pathetic whimper escaped his maw. "Holy effing hell!" he barked out, his entire body trembling. Just as the Arabian had reached the entrance, an icy breeze had drifted past, and that breeze was enough to erase all thoughts of tagging along from Kadhi's mind.
As another cold gust hit, the small brute immediately jumpped back and scurried deeper into the cavern. For the first time he was really beginning to regret his choice in pack territory. Before Aldgar, the desert had been his home. The desert with its scorching sun and warm sands. That place was nothing like this bone chilling wind and crystaline snow. Right now that place was looking better.
The sound of his claws clicking against the stone floor as he hastily made his retreat bounced off the walls in echo. His body refused to stop shivering, the short orange pelt not enough to keep the cold at bay. It wasn't long before he found himself pressing as far into Jay as he possibly could, trying to soak up as much of the pup's body heat as physically possible. Hey, that ball of fluff had to be good for something!
"You can count me outta this one chief! Ya gotta be nuts for wantin' to go out in that weather! I, uh... think I'll stay in here till spring..." A rather sheepish smile turned up the corners of his lips as his eyes bounced between the various wolves gathered. Unlike him, they all had nice, fluffy, warm pelts made for the snow. Kadhi was practically naked compared to the others. If any of them thought he was going anywheres in this weather, then they certaintly had a screw loose.
It was kind of funny, how the cocky little male had been reduced to a trembling wreck. What was even more ironic was that he had chosen Jay of all the canines to cuddle up to. Then again, Kuna and Meikou had both volunteered to go with Xinelil so they had drifted closer towards the cold. And Syren was the newest of all of them, so suddenly cuddling up to her would be even more awkward in the brute's mind. That just left the pup, his little apprentice. Maybe if he wasn't so damn cold Kadhi would realize exactly what he was doing and scurry a safe distance away. Too bad the wind seemed to have frozen over his brain.
