Ina'mos Island was quite the little getaway spot. It had grown its fair share of foliage over the years and its secluded nature made it perfect for setting up shop. Ajax could work however he pleased, taking his sweet time mixing poisons and inventing cures. Unfortunately, his little island turned lab was lacking one very important feature. Loners were scarce in these parts, not all that want to cross the chilly waters. It made testing out his new concoctions rather difficult. After all, he wasn't about to go trying things out on himself when they had the potential to kill him. His own life was much too precious for that.
Heaving a sigh, the Maned brute forced himself to rise from his spot in the shade of a rock. For some time he'd been pawing at an assorted collection of stems and leaves, wondering just what to do with them. He thought the plants were rather useless when he had nothing to try them on. Beyond that, when was the last time he'd seen another wolf? He had been hauled up on Ina'mos for so long in isolation that he couldn't even remember. By now the corpse had so far rotted that all that remained was some scraps of skin and mostly bones. There was nothing left to study that he hadn't already looked at and, decidedly, a corpse didn't make for very good company.
Which is why Ajax made his way towards the eastern shore. He must have spent the better part of an hour just staring, silver optics gazing across the waters and back to the mainland. Wolves were much more abundant across the small strip of sea. Problem was, if he wanted to go and be around others he first had to get wet... Ajax hated being wet. He wasn't the biggest fan of water, especially in winter. An ironic thought really, considering where he'd chosen to hide out for the last month or so and a half. He was getting lonely though, and while it had been some time since he'd last tried his paw at it, there was something enticing about the life in a pack. Subjects, countless subjects would essentially be at his paws and he'd have food and shelter more easily at his disposal.
"Oh, what the hell. The worst I do is kill them all and move on to something better." The maned brute found some comfort in this, enjoying the way the sound of his own voice caressed his ears. Yes, he did have a point. If pack life came to grow too tedious then he would have little trouble getting rid of those he did not like. Then it would simply be a hop, skip, and a jump away and on to his next great masterpiece. Black lips pulled back in a sinister smile, piercing gaze scanning the shore. The plan seemed well enough in his head; now to find someplace to enact it... There! The cliffs of Ryn-Eldbel were rather enticing, and what was that rumor he'd heard about the pack that dwelled there? They were of a dark, mysterious nature that radiated power? Ajax chuckled. It seemed as good a place as any to start.
Steeling his nerves, the warm weathered male forced his limbs forward and into the water. It bit at his flesh, much chillier than he would have liked, but still he pressed onwards. The swim, at least, was relatively short and it wasn't long before he was pulling himself out onto the shore. The first thing he did was shake his coat out, spraying icy droplets everywhere. Though it didn't help much, at least he was less waterlogged and more willing to stick to his resolve. But first he had a rather pressing matter to attend to. Lifting his leg, a hot stream of piss shot onto the ground. Disrespectful? Yes, but the cold had made him have to go and Ajax wasn't about to tailor his bladder to the needs of any stupid alpha. In fact, he even took his time calling out, instead making his way up to the ridge of the cliffs and plopping himself down in a nice sunny spot to dry. Only once he was content and no longer weakly trembling from the cold did he bother to throw his head up and howl, summoning whomever was in the area to come and greet him if they dared.
