The white she wolf paced back and forth over and over again as she tried to think of something to do. It was the first day off she had been giving since becoming a pet and she had a lot of mixed feelings about it. On one hand, she hated the idea of suddenly being free again. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was something she did wrong that made him want to get rid of her or if he truly thought she had earned a break. Not to mention, she was so used to every part of her mind being controlled and only ever having to obey what was asked of her that suddenly being on her seemed like a totally strange idea and she kept waiting for someone to tell her to do something instead of having to come up with something on her own.
Once she grew tired of pacing, she lay down for a few minutes and then stood back up walking in a circle before lying back down and repeating the process all over again. To anyone watching, they would surely think she was insane, insanely bored, or suffering from some major form of ocd. When in all reality, she wanted nothing more than to think of something to do. She was afraid that if she traveled too far, she would get in trouble for leaving the area and if she ran into any wolves, he’d want to know why she smelt of strange loners. Either way, she was sure to get punished and she didn’t want that to happen.
Finally, with a bored sigh, she lay down and curled her tail around her like a comforting blanket. She rested her head on her paws and watched the woods around her, every hopeful that Zitao would show himself. She was sure that even if he was around, he would never make himself known and would instead watch his little bird from a distance, making sure she did as she was supposed to. But even knowing that she couldn’t help but softly call out, “Where are you master?”
